Chapter 4 – A Romantic Evening
ADJL-Freakazoid
Cat was walking down the street, with Kel by her side of course.
“So where to first?” she asked with a slightly shy gaze.
“Beats me, hehe,” Kel replied.
Silent arose within their conversation.
“Hey, you know, I did hear about this new thriller movie that’s out in the theatres,” Cat pointed out.
“Hehe sounds cool. Want to go?” Kel asked.
“I don’t know, do you?” Cat giggled, “Haha, fine fine, let’s go!”
She grabbed Kel by the hand and she started running.
“Hey, hey! Slow down!” said Kel with a laugh.
“Oh come on, the previews probably started by now!” giggled Cat, slowing down a bit. She still continued running, though.
But you know, even for a date, their attire was pretty casual. So it really wasn’t a problem to run; wearing tennis shoes help.

“Sold out?!” Cat said, shocked.
“I’m sorry, but you should’ve gone here earlier. Those people over there got the last tickers,” the lady said, pointing to a threesome at the snack bar.
“Oh, are there, by any chance, other times it’ll show again?” Cat asked.
“I’m really sorry. This was the last showing time for today,” she replied.
Cat sighed.
“Never mind then. Thanks anyway,” She said politely.
She walked out from the front of the line and walked toward a set of chairs, where Kel was sitting.
“So,” Kel asked, “how did it go?”
Cat sighed again, “They’re sold out…”
“Oh, well, did they every say anything when the next time it’ll play again?” He asked.
“Sadly, no. They said it’s pretty crowded today,” she replied.
“Yeah, it’s Saturday today,” Kel pointed out.
“So, now that the movies are down the drain, what do we do?” Cat asked, sitting next to him.
“Hmm,” Kel pondered.

“This isn’t working out too well,” Huntsgirl said.
“Hush, Thorn. There’s probably just a minor setback,” the Huntsman said.
“So what’re we going to do?” She asked, curiously.
“We’ll see,” He replied.

“Look, this isn’t the end of the world. We can always do something else,” Kel said, trying to cheer Cat up.
“Yeah, as long as it’s something with you, it doesn’t matter,” Cat beamed.
“That’s the spirit!” He chuckled.
She giggled, wrapping her arm around Kel.
“You’re the best,” she said, “truly…”
“Aww, you’re too sweet,” Kel said.
Suddenly, there was an indistinct, inaudible conversation coming from a corner.
“I’m really sorry, but you know… tonight really isn’t the best to watch it.”
“Alright, I guess there’s always Monday or something to look forward to.”
“Yeah.”
The two were a couple obviously, one was an obnoxious man and the other was a lady with an attitude. Yes, they were the perfect twosome, am I right? Eh, whatever…
“Well, I better get going.”
“Okay, see ya tomorrow.”
The lady had walked past Cat and Kel. Both of them spotted her making the weirdest, yet most silent, and relived laugh. This probably meant that she was happy that their movie plans were canceled.
Cat gave an awkward look as she watched her “prance” out the door of the theatre.
“That was weird,” Kel said.
“Yeeaah,” she said, nodding in agreement.
The two then turned to the man, who has at the corner.
“I guess there’s no point on using these now,” He said, tossing the tickets he was holding down to the ground. He then made his way out the door in disappointment.
Kel waited until the man was out the door and he looked down at the tickets. He bent down and grabbed it, skimming through them and giving a grin.
“What are you doing?” Cat asked.
Kel sat up again then showed Cat the tickets he had grabbed, leaving her to gasp.
“Looks like it’s our lucky day,” he said.
“Oh my gosh!” Cat said.
“Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go watch a movie!” Kel said.
Cat grinned and got up.
“Sure,” she said, “let’s go!”
“Hey, hey, don’t you go dragging me and running again!” Kel teased.
“Oh, don’t worry. I won’t,” Cat winked, “after today!”
She grabbed Kel’s hand.
“To the theatre!!!”
She then started running, holding his hand.
“Hey! Hehe,” said Kel, leaving them both to laugh.

Cat and Kel were sitting at the middle row of the theatre, watching the movie while eating some popcorn and candy.
The movie had already gone through half an hour. As soon as a slightly scary, thrilling part had gone through, Cat stared at the screen; her eyes widened in fear and horror.
She started getting a little scared and held on to something that was close by. Little did she know that she had grabbed Kel’s hand; she also didn’t notice him looking at her with slight amusement.
The movie went through another couple of minutes then an ear-piercing scream could be heard, making Cat get a little more freaked out. She started grasping her hand with Kel’s.
After that scary moment was over with, Cat had noticed that she was squeezing Kel’s hand the whole time.
She started blushing a bit as she adverted her gaze down to the floor. Kel could tell she seemed embarrassed but he made her feel comfortable by putting one arm around her. Of course, it made her feel a whole lot better.
The two gave each other a smile then turned their attention back to the movie.

It had been around another hour and a half, and now the movie was over.
“That was so cool!” Kel exclaimed as the two walked out the theatre.
“And scary,” Cat added.
“Hehe, I could tell you thought it was,” He teased.
“Yeah, haha, I’m such a baby!” She laughed.
“No, no, of course not,” Kel said.
“Aww, you see? These are one of the reasons why you’re so great; you’re totally sweet to girls,” Cat grinned.
“Aww, you’re sweet too!”
“No, you!”
“You!”
“Nuh uh, you!”
“No, no, cut it out. Everyone, especially me, obviously knows that you’re the sweeter one.”
“Nah, you’re the sweetest, Kel!”
“No you!”
“You!”
“You times infinity!”
“Do’h, you win!”
Cat giggled and hugged Kel.
“Hehe, yeah, yeah you do,” she smiled.
“Haha, so… where to now?” Kel asked.
“Hmm, I don’t know,” Cat said, wrapping her arms around herself.
“Me neither,” he said, “you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m just… c… cold,” she replied, “I forgot to being a jacket.”
“Oh, well here, let me help you with that,” Kel said, taking off his sweater and putting it around her.
“Aww, thank you so much,” Cat said, giving Kel a clingy hug.
“Hey, it’s cool. I’m just looking out for you,” He said.
“Anyway, hehe, where do you want to head off to now?” Cat asked.
“Hmm, I heard there’s a dance going on in Central Park. How does that sound?” Kel asked.
“Sounds awesome!” Cat replied.
“Then let’s go,” Kel said, “I’m ready to be dragged!”
“Oh you, hehe,” she said, “You read my mind!”
Cat laughed then grabbed him by his hand and they both ran off to the park.

“Well, here it is,” Cat said.
“Hehe, wow, cool,” Kel said.
The two looked around the amazingly vast park and saw a sort of dance going on, just like Kel had said. It was filled mostly with couples and partnered people.
“So, may I have this dance?” Kel said.
“Hehe, glad to!” Cat beamed.
Despite the fact that most of the people were dressed formally (like in a dress and a tux or whatever), the two didn’t really mind the fact that their casual attire stood out in the crowd.
A band was playing lively and smooth music, and the two kept on dancing around with enjoyment.
Everything seemed well at first, but it started getting a little chilly. The wind started blowing ferociously, making everyone stop as they heard the lead singer of the band giving orders that there was a chance of a blizzard. It was the first day of December, so it wasn’t a big surprise.
With disappointed looks, everyone started heading out to find a warm, safe place to stay in. Kel and Cat shrugged then they both walked together somewhere.

Well, there goes our dance down the drain,” Kel said.
They were now at a local diner, watching make it’s way into a form of a blizzard like a velocity. It meant they were pretty much snowed in…
“Hey it’s fine,” Cat said.
The two were sitting at a table near the front window, both facing other; sitting in opposite sides of the table. Kel looked out the window and sighed.
“Looks like we’re going to be here for a while,” He said.
Cat got up from the seat she was now in; she took the seat that was next to Kel.
“You know, as long as we’re together, I don’t even mind being here,” Cat said.
They hugged and looked at each other with a grin.
“Thanks, Cat. You know, I really wanted to make tonight special… but everything didn’t really turn out as we planned it,” Kel said, “I’m glad you understand.”
“No problem. You know, like I said, as long as if I’m with the best person in the world, I’m happy enough,” she said.
Kel smiled.
“Nah, nah, you’re the best.”
“No, no, YOU!”
“You!”
“You… uh… times infinity!”
“Dah, man, you win this time!”
Cat scooted closer to Kel and leaned her head on his shoulder then sat up again, looking at him.
“It’s only fair,” she teased.
“Yeah hehe,” Kel said.
Cat nudged Kel.
“Hey, you know what I’m in the mood for?” She asked.
“Hot chocolate?” He guessed.
“Yup! Hehe, you read my mind!” She giggled.
“Yeah, I know… I’m in the mood too,” Kel said.
“Come on then, hehe, my treat,” Cat said.
“Oh no. It’s MY treat,” He said.
“Don’t sweat it Kel,” she said, “I’ll buy it.”
“No, no, I’ll buy it!” Kel said.
“Hehe, how about this; I buy for you, but you buy for me?” Cat suggested.
“That’s a great idea! Oh, you’re so smart!” He said, getting up.
“Hehe, nah,” Cat said, “Come on.”
She got up and they both walked up to the front counter.
They both ordered hot chocolate and paid for each other’s order.
After they had gotten their cups, they grabbed one for each of them and sat back down to the same seat they were in.
“Thanks for the treat, Kel,” Cat teased, taking a sip of her cocoa.
“Haha, no prob. And thank YOU for the treat,” Kel said.
Both of them talked, laughed, and drank their hot chocolate.
After finishing, they still kept talking with such pleasure. Music was playing in the diner and a particular song had started, making Cat stop and ponder.
“So, want to dance?” She asked.
“Of course!” Kel replied.
He got up and offered Cat a hand, helping her up. The two walked to the middle of the diner and took each other’s hands, gradually moving around the diner.
The music was upbeat and lively, so the two danced around with slightly quick speed. They twirled, spun around, held each other close, held each other’s hands, and danced to the beat. Before the song was over, Kel took Cat’s hand and made her twirl around multiple times—just like at the talent show they entered and won in months ago.
The people were obviously watching them, since they all applauded and the two took a momentary bow.
“Thank you so much for tonight, Kel,” Cat said.
“No problem,” Kel said.
They both hugged and kissed.
What a wonderful night…
