Happy Early Christmas, everyone. yeah, I just got hyped up for the holiday spirit and decided to work on this fic a little early. Mwahaha. Well, I hope you guys read the Author's Note I put up in the "AUA Special Sidestory Preview" thread. That section was actually the prologue, by the way. >.> Sooo... anyway. I'll be alternating stories as I work on them; I'll go from ROTY to LAAB. (funny acronyms XD). Well, it's pretty short and full of... weirdness. But enjoy anyway!
The North Pole has always been said to be some sort of a âlegendâ where it was just a large, arid area that reached temperatures way below zero. But if you really and truly believed in Christmas, a trip to Santaâs Workshop might just be the best surprise ever. In Santaâs Workshop were elves, reindeers, dwarves, and all sorts of unimaginable beings surrounding the place. But they werenât here to mess around or kid like little immature brats, everyone who came to this place were serious and devoted their hearts to helping Christmas be the best it couldâve ever been every year; so they do that by improving by at least a single percent ever holiday season.
Sounds of dinging, clicking, and ringing were being heard all over while âJingle Bell Rockâ played over and overâas well as other Christmas Carolsâto motivate everyone to work with such comfort and joy. The worker elves were full of activity as they were sorting toys and putting them each carefully into a conveyor belt where they were sent to the others to be hand-wrapped with beautiful bows and wrapping paper that could only be even more beautiful by their wonderful source of magic. After the worker elves would finish covering the boxes with beautiful paper, all of the gifts would be sent out to another assembly lineâbut for shipping. Outside of the workshop were Santa and all of the reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donor, Blitzen, and lastly, Rudolphâthe reindeer that lead the sleigh while he ventured through the foggy atmosphere. All of the presents would be given to Santa to put in his big red bag; which has been said to be able to hold anything without worrying about the fabric breaking open and having any nasty tears.
Of course, all the while, elves do get tired after a long day at work. Though their need for sleep can range from as short as fifteen minutes to something decently long like five hours, all of them still need breaks. Among the large group of worker elves were two young twin sisters that were getting ready for their hour-long shift; that was, until they had to go back to work again until another seven hours passed by. The two young elves were both upbeat and bouncy, as they had scampered their way out of Santaâs Workshop. The temperature that day was probably eighty below zero, maybe even colder. Any normal human would freeze to death within seconds at this type of weather, but not any of the elves up in the North Pole. It was quite easy for them to adjust anyway.
The two elves were walking out of the shop together as they had wandered at a Candy Cane forest filled with, what else, candy canes and chocolate sweets. It was like a kidâs junk food, sweet tooth paradise. Though this wonderland was off-limits to everyone except for the elves that were on their break, it was still really colorful and very enjoyable to look at. These two elves, anyhow, were named Tinker and Kimper, who were said to be two of the youngest workers in the entire toy factory; they were only ten, after all. The two were always proud to know that they worked in a place like Santaâs Workshop.
âChristmas is sure to be fantastic this year!â grinned Tinker as they skipped merrily through the fluffy snow.
âI bet so!â Kimper beamed with agreement. âThe toys look great, Santaâs sleigh is working in great shape, AND the best part is⊠the Christmas Spirit gauge is still fully up to the top!â (A/N: By the way, these elf names are very original and came from the top of my head.)
All the while that this Christmas town might be a wonderful place to visit, that was like a very secrete area where only such trusted people were allowed to know. Meanwhile, the setting has been switched to Draco Islandâs School of Magic, where the winterish atmosphere and snow made the place even more astounding. Some who actually have been to the North Pole can call this area the âsecond best place for Christmas Townâ. That, though, has only been known by a few amount of peopleâafter all, they knew that not every magical being truly agreed at the essence of Christmas and its wondrous surprises. Among two of the students were Shade and Florence, who were just outside on the second day of December⊠putting up what seems to be, well, a snowman.
âAww, look at his cute little nose!â Florence remarked, poking the carrot that stuck out of the snowman they finished putting together. âI think this Frosty is really adorable!â
âFrosty?â Shade asked all of a sudden. âWhy name it Frosty? Itâs so⊠well⊠itâs⊠itâs a really common snowman name, you know?â
âCome on! Canât we keep the name? Itâs cute!! AND Itâll get him even MORE confused!â She giggled with enthusiasm, as if the snow figure were actually real.
âBut Flo, there are better and more original names we could think of other than,â He paused, âFrosty.â He had put more meaning and emphasis in that previous word.
âFine, you want to name it Freezy then?â Florence teased.
âWell, itâs a better name to listen to other than some imitative name like⊠Frosty.â Shade teased back, rolling his eyes.
âYou and your big words,â She grinned with more humorous taunting. âOkay⊠itâs settled; weâll name it Freezy then!â
âHey! Butââ
âShade⊠I named it something other than⊠Frosty! What more could you want?â
âOh, you!â
While those two were doing a very playful-like âbickerâ, Cat was being a little lazy and was playing around with her electric guitar with the amplifier turned on when she should be helping out with the Christmas decorations with Mark.
âAnd I miss you⊠been far away for far too long,â Cat sang along with the songs to a Nickelback song that she played, âI keep dreaming⊠youâll be with me and youâd never go. Stop breathing if I donât see you anymore!â
âUh Cat, a little help here?â Mark said, trying to get her attention. âSheesh, why did I even volunteer in the first place?â He mumbled. She rolled her eyes, ignored the last remark, put down her electric guitar, and climbed up the ladder. Cat wasnât actually that tall enough to reach the mantle-like surface that was set up on the schoolâs exterior. Then again, not a lot of people were that tall. Around the walls were even thicker strands of sparkling garland that were as shiny as it could be. The two had worked together to put them up in an easy manner and, more importantly, a wondrous one. Unfortunately for Mark, though, Cat was a little stubborn and went back to playing the guitar after they had finished putting those set of ornaments up.
âEvery memory of looking out the back door, I have a photo album spread out on my bedroom floor. Itâs hard to say it, time to say it. Goodbye! Goodbye!â She continued with the chords to another Nickelback song until Mark interrupted her yet again.
âThis isnât the time for games,â He said, plugging off her amplifier, âThereâs only twenty two days until Christmas, so we got to get this done! We donât even have the first floor finished.â
âActually, thatâs twenty three,â Cat corrected with a grin.
â⊠Yeah, that too. Anyway, would you care to help with the Christmas lights?â
âIn fact, I got an easier way,â She said, changing into dragon form, âDragon style!!â
Before Mark could even uncoil an inch of the clump of lights, Cat took flight and grabbed them, maneuvering herself gracefully around the level as she started placing the Christmas lights around poles, walls, corners, everywhere you could possibly imagine. When she had finished in a rapid manner, she landed and reverted back to her human form while grabbing two sets of plugs and putting them together. In a blink of an eye, flashes of light glimmered throughout the place. Mark was astounded at Catâs work.
âWow⊠that was quick.â
Ash and Al entered the scene shortly after, holding hands as they had just come out from yet another stroll around the places that was in DISOM. Ash stopped and looked around with awe, as the lights twinkled in her eyes.
âWhoa guys! The decorations look great! And⊠and these lights are so bright!â She exclaimed.
Mark looked at her with a bit of awkwardness. âI⊠uh⊠umâŠâ
âI try!â Cat grinned, blasting her electric guitar once again. âShow me what itâs like! To be the last one standing!â
âGah! Enough with the Nickelback songs!!â
âTinker! Kimper!â A voice called out in the quiet, breezy air of North Pole.
The elf twins had quickly turned around, watching as a figure had started approaching them. They had slowly walked over when they noticed a familiar friend that had the same age, who had the name of Sherlyn. She was a really close pal with the two sisters. (A/N: Actually, one of my best friends offline is named Sherlyn. HeheâŠ)
âGuys!â She said, placing her hands on her knees as she bent down a little, trying to catch her breath. âSanta needs you guys! Pronto!â
âWhat? Whatâs wrong?â Kimper asked curiously and worriedly, her pointy ears perking up with interest.
âNo time to explain!â Sherlyn said, glancing at both Kimper and Tinker. âThereâs something really bad!â
âŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ
The three had rapidly made their way to Santaâs Workshop. Tinker and Kimper gasped softly as they had noticed the horrible scene. Snow blanketed the conveyor belts, seeing as they had been running real slowly. A majority of the elves were panicking or running around, trying to find a way to settle this conflict.
âNo! Christmas is doomed!â They heard one of them say.
Tinker had her eyes almost filled to the brim with tears; she was always the most emotional one after all. âIt canât be! Who would do something like this?â
âWe donât know.â Sherlyn said softly, âI was just on my way to the workshop from my break when I saw all of the elves running in fear. Luckily, I calmed them down. But things donât look too good here. I donât even know where half of them are.â
Kimper nodded. âDid you see what happened, Sher?â
She shook her head slowly. âUnfortunately, I wasnât at the scene at that time to ever see who was there. But I thought I saw these guys dressed real funny⊠And they had these funny-looking staff-a-mabobbers that they had, thatâs all.â Sherlyn sighed. âAnd the even sadder part is,â She pointed at the Christmas Spirit gauge, âThe meter is almost empty. At this rate, Christmas is bound to be disastrous this year.â
âItâs just sad to hear that,â Santa said as he entered the workshop.
âI know,â Tinker nodded gradually as the four were gathered in a standing circle. âI wonder what kind of people had that much of a cruel hear to ruin the holiday season for all of us.â She could feel tears forming in her eyes. Santa draped an arm around her to comfort the sobbing elf. She sniffled and wiped her tears away with her free hand.
âUnfortunately Tinker, there really are those types of people out there,â He said, âBut I donât understand why they would want to in the first place.â
âNeither do I,â Kimper shook her head.
âSo what are we gonna do?â Sherlyn gave a shrug. âWe donât even know where or even who those people are.â
âWe can call for help,â Kimper suggested. âAfter all, there are heroes in this world other than you, right Santa?â
âOf course there is,â he nodded. âAnd I know a certain someone.â The three listened closely. âHeâs always been mentioned as the American Dragon. I think he can help save Christmas.â
âWhere is this American Dragon?â Tinker asked, âAnd does he even know that you and everyone one of us exist?â
âThat all remains a mystery to me,â Santa said, âBut all that matters is that we get him to help us.â
âHmm, I wonder where we could find him,â Sherlyn pondered aloud.
Welp, hope it wasn't that bad. >.> Hehe. Well... I'd better get to work on ROTY. I hope you guys check it out some time. Thanks to the two people who reviewed it already. ^^
Anyway... later guys! Don't forget the information I need! *pokes AUA SSP thread* Sorry again if this chapter was too short!
