Now now, take your time no one is rushing you. Just take a moment to let your mind relax before trying again, there is a difference between just typing a story and actually telling it. Your inspiration shall return, I'm sure we will all be patient with you. It is your story to tell, not ours

It's like Saphiredragon89 said. You'll get around this soon enough. Sometimes it helps just to step back and not think to hard about it. If you want ideas, you can always try reading other people's fan fics. It might spur your inspiration and get you back on track. Works for me.

Chapter 6: The Second Attack
Miranda unlocked the door and stuck the key in her pocket. “Mom?” She called. “Mom, are you home?”
Silence, and Miranda sighed softly with relief. A jolt of pain from her left hand up her arm throughout her body, however, brought her back to reality. Grimacing, she slid her backpack off her shoulders and walked into the kitchen. She glanced uneasily over her shoulder, unless Selena was lurking in the shadows somewhere. Seeing no sign of her mother’s flamed hair or her poisonous eyes, Miranda opened the cabinet. She rummaged through the medicines, pushing them aside, until she found what she wanted, a small bottle filled with light blue liquid. She pulled it out, shaking it slightly to stir the contents, before uncorking it and drinking. The cool liquid washed down her throat, and the effect was immediate.
The pain in her hand subsided, and when she looked down, the mark glowed white before fading from her hand, leaving it unmarked. She sighed. Selena always told her not to be ashamed of her heritage, but she couldn’t help it. She didn’t want to be a Dark Servant. She just wanted to be Miranda.
And Selena would never accept that.

“There’s been another attack?”
Lao Shi nodded as he and Jake flew over the city. Rose’s leg was still bothering her, and at Jake’s insistence she had stepped down from the mission. Kellen had decided to sit this one out as well, since had had gotten a C- on the math test and was in desperate need of some studying. Today Lao Shi and Jake were on their own.
“They managed to get away with something, as well.” “What did they take?” “A vial of Dark Potion, dark magic in liquid form.” “So it’s like the Orb of Malorfis.” “Yes.”
Jake sighed. “It’s like Darkfire all over again.”
Lao Shi said nothing, but his silence said more then any words could.

“Kellen?” “Hmm?”
The boy looked up at Rose. Her eyes were worried. “What’s wrong, Rose?” he asked.
“Maybe I should have gone with them.” She shook her head irritably. “Why?” “It’s stupid.” “Rose, come on. You know me better then that.”
Rose looked at the ground. “I… I just have a feeling something bad is gonna happen. Something they can’t handle.”
Kellen sat up. “What kind of something?”
“I don’t know… that’s what scares me…”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Jake flared his wings and landed in the old building. It had been abandoned years ago. He blinked a few times, and sneezed. “Man, doesn’t anyone ever dust this place?”
“Why should they?” Lao Shi moved ahead. “It’s been abandoned for years.” “Yeah, but still…” Jake sneezed again.
Lao Shi quietly examined the floor. Small footprints were marked in the layer of dust that had settled on the floor. A door hung slightly ajar.
“What is it, G?” “The person must be here. Probably behind that door.”
“Good.” Jake walked to the door, pushing it open. “Let’s just get this over with.”
“Jake, wait…!” Lao Shi began, but Jake had already opened the door and stepped inside. Lao Shi stood tensely for a moment, tail lashing uneasily, but there was no sound of an ambush on the other side of the door. After a moment, he sighed softly in relief.
“Perhaps I was wrong to believe…”
A shriek of pain on the other end of the door made Lao Shi fall silent, and he shot forward like a bullet shot from a gun, desperate to get to his grandson.
“Jake!”
Another shriek of pain, this one louder and shriller then the first, and though he had not been witness to the attack, Lao Shi knew that Jake, his grandson, was in trouble, and not even the Dark Dragon himself could have prevented the old dragon from rushing into the room.
Jake was suspended in mid-air by red magic, which sparked and lashed from the fingertips of a young woman. She was clothed in black from head to foot, her eyes cold and calculating, showing no sign of human emotion as she quietly studied the young dragon. She tightened her hand into a fist, and the magic squeezed against Jake, releasing a shrill wail from him.
“Release my grandson!” Lao Shi roared. The woman barely stirred at his voice, only turning her head slightly to gaze at him. A chill seeped down Lao Shi’s spine at her eyes; they were green, almost poisonous, and there was laziness within them, as though she was playing a game, not taking a life. She flicked her wrist slightly, and the magic brightened, tightened, and another wail burst from Jake. She gazed at Lao Shi coolly.
See? Her eyes seemed to say. See what I can do? With a flick of my wrist, I can destroy him. With a simple hand gesture, I can kill him.
“Let him go!”
A smirk played briefly across her face, and she loosened her hand slightly. The magic loosened its hold on Jake, but did not release him, and he slumped forward, moaning weakly.
“Let me take what I came for,” she said, “or I’ll kill your precious grandson.” She snapped her hand back like a whip, and the magic brightened until it blinded Lao Shi, and Jake’s shrieks of agony rang in his ears. He knew it was wrong, it was his duty as the Chinese Dragon, but there was too much at stake.
“Take what you want,” the old dragon rasped. “I won’t stop you if you don’t harm my grandson.”
The woman’s smirk widened into an evil grin. “Good boy.” She pulled her hand back, and the magic stopped. Jake fell to the ground with a dull thud, moaning weakly. Lao Shi rushed to his side; the woman observed this calmly, almost amusedly.
“We’ll finish this some other time, old man,” she whispered, and without a word stepped into the shadows, disappearing. In one hand she held a dusty, leather book. She had what she needed.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Jake was to weak to fly back to the shop, so he dragoned down, and Lao Shi put him on his back, carefully wrapping his grandson’s arms around his neck. Jake moaned weakly into Lao Shi’s neck. “Gramps?” he whispered hoarsely, before his body went limp, and he passed out. Lao Shi gently touched his hand.
“Rest, young dragon. Soon all will be well,” he whispered, desperately hoping it would be true.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Rose was so restless she couldn’t concentrate, so she opted for pacing around the room like a caged tiger. Kellen watched her, to uneasy now to work, and Fu sighed.
“Look, Rosebud, I’m sure Jake and the old man are okay,” he said. “There’s nothing yet that those two can’t handle.” His ears perked up at the sound of the back door opening. He bounded down and went to greet them, shooting a glance at Rose as he went by. “See, what did I tell ya?” he called to her as he walked by.
Rose sighed before shooting Kellen a rueful look. “I guess I overreacted there, huh?”
Kellen opened his mouth to respond.
“Hey, Lao! How was the night? Was the kid hard to… What the heck happened to him!”
Rose was off like a shot, ignoring the pain that flashed up her leg at the sudden movement, and Kellen sprang after her. They came just as Lao Shi went back to his human form, Jake tumbling off his back into Rose’s arms. She sank to her knees, letting Jake’s weight pull her down.
“What happened to him?!”
Lao Shi just shook his head angrily. Kellen paced cautiously to Jake’s other side. Rose gently stroked Jake’s cheek.
“Jake? Jake, come on, you have to wake up. Jake!”

Chapter 7: Miranda’s Stand
Selena slipped through a window and slammed it shut, wiping at her eyes, before putting the book on the table. Why had Miranda locked the door?
Because she’s being stubborn. Again. Selena sighed. Her father was that way.
“Mom?”
Selena turned and smiled weakly when she saw Miranda there, looking uneasy. “Hey, Mindy. What’s wrong?” Miranda stared at her mother’s shoulder; the Dark Mark on her shoulder was positively sparking. “Mom, you didn’t,” she whispered hoarsely. Selena shrugged. “He was in my way. I had to get the spell book somehow.” “MOM!!!”
Miranda’s jaw hit the floor at her mother’s apparent coolness to what she had done. Selena glanced over at her daughter, blinking at the distress that was obvious in her normally gentle brown eyes. Miranda whirled on her heel and marched out of the room. Selena lunged forward, grabbing Miranda’s arm. “Miranda, wait!” “Let go of me!” Selena’s eyes were deadly. “Why should I? You’ll go straight to him!”
All her life, Miranda’s dark powers, the ones Selena used so frequently and carelessly, had slept dormant within her, probably for the rest of her life, but at that moment she was so full of rage and anger and betrayal that the power roared to life, swirling in her belly and warming her, her fingers beginning to spark dangerously with black magic.
“I said let go of me!”
Miranda’s hand smashed into her mother’s arm, and a jet of pure black magic went with the blow, electrocuting Selena and throwing her back, releasing her daughter. Without even pausing to see if her mother was okay, Miranda wrestled her dark powers back under control and ran from the room, flinging open the cabinet and grabbing the bottle of light blue liquid, as well as a gray one. Without hesitation she brought the gray potion to her lips and drank.
“Show me the American Dragon.”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Jake wasn’t getting better. If anything, he was getting worse.
Dark magic, although quite popular, was rarely used as a serious weapon, but Lao Shi knew that the woman in the building had devastating control over her dark magic, and she used it to her fullest advantage. Since dark magic wasn’t consider an attack weapon, only defensive, all his books had no cure for what would happen if someone had been offensively attacked with dark magic.
Rose was pale and shaky, but considering past circumstances was enduring incredibly well. Kellen occasionally drifted between sitting and pacing restlessly, occasionally glancing at Jake, who was not responding to anything that had been done for him. Rose held one of his hands in her own, and in the dim light it was almost impossible to see the tears that streaked her cheeks.
“He’s gonna be okay,” Kellen murmured. “He’s gotta be.”
Rose stayed silent. Reaching out, she gently stroked Jake’s cheek, and a soft sob escaped her.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Miranda ran as though she had winged feet; she didn’t even take the time to feel shocked over the American Dragon’s identity; she didn’t have time. She’d be shocked later, when he was safe. Right now she had to focus on helping him. Her hand tightened slightly on the bottle she held as she ran.
She screeched to a stop when she reached his training spot; Long’s Electronics, and ignoring the “Closed” sign on the door she grabbed the knob and pushed the door open.
An old dog looked up as the bell rang, signaling the door opening, and he sprang down as an even older looking man walked in. “Did you not see the sign?” he asked. “I am sorry, but were are closed…”
Miranda ignored the old man, letting her dark powers guide her for the first time in her life.
He’s here… I can sense him. He’s getting so weak… I have to hurry!
She turned, plunging through the doorway that gave off the magical feeling of the dragon’s presence, ignoring the shouts, and all hell broke out around her.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“Miranda!” Kellen sprang to his feet in surprise as she burst through the door. He walked to her as she caught her breath. “What are you…?”
“No time to explain,” she panted. “Where’s Jake?”
Kellen moved aside, and after a moment she walked past him, pausing to touch Rose’s shoulder gently.
“Miranda…?” “Don’t cry,” the brown-eyed girl soothed. “He’ll be alright now.” She gently pulled Rose to her feet. “I need space,” she said, standing next to the motionless boy. After a moment she sank onto the bed beside him.
“Hey, Jake. It’s me, Miranda. Surprised? I am… I never expected this… Then again, what do I expect, with my mother the way she is…?”
Miranda gently lifted Jake’s head so it was cradled in the crook of her arm. Cautiously she uncorked the potion she had brought, bringing it to Jake’s lips so he drank. She nodded to herself as the light blue liquid emptied into his body. She lowered his head to the pillow, wiping off sweat, and nodded to herself before sliding off the bed to walk over to Rose and Kellen.
“He should be alright now,” she said, choosing to ignore the disbelief in their eyes. “That potion is the only kind that can counter dark magic; I made it myself. He should be around in a few hours.”
“How did you…?”
A low moan from Jake made Rose turn. She walked over to him hopefully. “Jake?” she called softly.
His eyes opened. He moaned again, smiling weakly at Rose’s gasp of delight. She rushed to his side, taking his hand in hers again. He laughed weakly.
“Hey, babe, you know nothing keeps the Am Drag down…”
Kellen looked at Miranda questioningly, but she shook her head; now was not the time for answers. He frowned, but after a moment leaned over so he was speaking into her ear.
“Do I want to know?” “Later,” she murmured, delicious tremors of pleasure tingling up and down her spine at the feeling of his breath against her skin.
Kellen shrugged after a moment, deciding not to question it; Jake was alright, and that was all that mattered.
After a moment, he grabbed Miranda’s hand, and looking down he saw her smiling.
