Chapter 45: The First Day of The Hunt
Jake woke up and felt someone holding him close. He opened his eyes to see Rose was holding onto him. He smiled and rubbed his hand down Rose’s scales. They were warm to his touch and he felt love for her as remained close to her and stroked her. He heard movements behind him and he turned to see Dave shooting fire at a pile of wood on the ground. They were lit and a dim light filled the cave. “Good morning,” Dave said softly to Jake when he saw Jake looking at him. Jake smiled and said, “Good morning,” back to Dave and turned his head and proceeded to stroke Rose softly again.
Haley woke up with a yawn and stood up and stretched. She walked over to the fire and sat down. “I am going to make some things to eat in a moment,” Dave told her and Haley nodded. She looked around the hardly lit cave and thought about how horrible it was to be stuck in the Grand Equinox Hunt. Haley heard about it from Jake but she didn’t think it was this terrifying. Dave smiled at Haley and placed a clawed hand on her shoulder and walked out of the cave.
Laoshi got up next and watched Dave go out. He looked over at the fire and Haley and followed Dave out. He saw Dave trying to catch fish and Laoshi smiled and proceeded to help him. After they caught enough fish, they walked back to the cave instead of flying. “Dave, how did you get your dragon form back?” Laoshi asked him. “I tore a sleeve off my short by accident last night when I was running. I then suddenly transformed and I looked back at my sleeve to find out a piece of sphinx hair was in it,” Dave explained. “How do you think it got in there?” Laoshi asked. “I felt something tickle my arm when I was holding the baby one night. I bet that is when it got in there,” Dave said. Laoshi nodded and they entered the cave.
They looked around to notice that Jake and Rose were still holding each other except Rose was now awake. Laoshi and Dave went on to prepare the fish and get the meal ready for everyone. After they ate and talked, they heard a horn. “Oh no,” Jake said. “That is the horn signaling the start of the Hunt,” Rose said. “Day one of the Grand Equinox Hunt has now officially started,” Dave said.

Chapter 46: The Hunters
Sarah walked out of her tent before everyone was up. She went to look at the poles to talk to the dragons again to notice they were gone. She growled and ran to the Huntsmaster’s tent. “Huntsmaster!” she yelled as she entered his tent. “What is it Sarah?” he asked her. “The dragons have escaped!” she said to him and left to her own tent. She walked in and she put on her uniform and walked back out to see the Huntsmaster with the horn. He blew it and the members of the Huntsclan came out and the Hunt started.
Sarah was paired with Karalyn and they went into the forest. They looked around to see if they could find any sign of the dragons they were looking for. “Do you see them anywhere?” Sarah asked. “No, do you?” Karalyn asked her. “No, I don’t or I wouldn’t be asking you,” Sarah said. Karalyn growled and then smiled and said, “Do you know who all of these dragons are?” “No, why?” Sarah asked. “I am just curious. I know each and every one of them,” Karalyn told her. “Who are they?” Sarah asked. “You will find out soon enough, I am sure,” Karalyn told her. ‘I wish Dave was here,’ Sarah thought, ‘He would love to see dragons. But, I can’t let him know that I work for the Huntsclan.’
They continued to walk when they saw a cave. “They may be hiding in there,” Karalyn said. They slowly approached the cave and entered it to see a fire going but it was empty. "They were here not too long ago,” Sarah said. She then turned to see one of the dragons flying by. “Goodbye dragon,” Sarah said softly and aimed and then fired a ball of green energy at the dragon.

Chapter 47: The Hunted
Jake and the others had a look of worry on their faces after they heard the horn. They immediately rose up and looked out of the cave. When no one was in site, they left the cave and started to fly away. “What is happening?” Haley asked. “The Hunt has started. The Huntsclan is going to be after us in an instant,” Jake told her. They flew over the forest and saw the Huntsclan at the camp getting ready to leave. Rose then opened her eyes wide. “I forgot my locket!” she said. The others looked at her.
“I transformed to my human form last night to take my locket off my neck to look at the picture inside of Jake and I. I left it behind,” she told them. “I will go back and get it,” Dave said and flew back. “Dave no!” Laoshi said. Dave was already gone. The other flew down and shot fire at the Huntsclan members. Shot were fired and the dragons avoided it and continued fighting against the Huntsclan.
Dave returned to the cave and entered it to see the locket lying on the ground. He smiled and went over and picked it up. It was still partly open and Dave opened it to see a picture of Rose and Jake on both sides that looked like it was taken a few years ago. Dave closed it and closed it in his right hand. He took off and started to head for the cover of the forest. Then he felt something shoot him in his arm. He fell to the ground and got up to feel a net thrown over him. “Feel lucky this isn’t sphinx hair dragon,” Sarah said. Dave growled as Karalyn and Sarah carried him away with difficulty.
Jake and the other fought against the Huntsclan when they heard someone approaching. They turned to see it was Sarah and Karalyn carrying Dave. “No!” Rose yelled and she held onto Jake. Sarah and Karalyn tied him to a post and Karalyn handed a HuntsStaff to Sarah. “You can slay him,” she said.

Chapter 48: Truth Revealed
Sarah smiled. “My pleasure,” she said and aimed at Dave. The light started glowing and Jake noticed that only Sarah and Karalyn were around. The other Huntsclan members were gone. Rose held onto Jake and tears ran down her face. “Time to die dragon!” Sarah yelled. “Sarah wait!” Dave yelled. “Excuse me?” Sarah asked. “If you want to kill me, then do it when you know who I am,” Dave said and transformed to his human form.
Sarah quickly pulled off her Huntsclan mask. “Dave!” she exclaimed. “It is me. I am the dragon you shot. I am the one that yelled last night,” he said. “No, this can’t be true,” Sarah said. “It is true Sarah,” Jake said. “Who are you all?” Sarah asked Jake and the others. They all sighed and transformed to their human forms. “No...,” Sarah said after seeing who the other dragons were. They nodded and transformed back to their human forms, leaving Dave as the only dragon in his human form. “I don’t know what to say,” Sarah said and looked at Dave. “Sarah, leave the Huntsclan and be with me. I love you,” Dave said. “But I can’t leave the Huntsclan. I am marked,” Sarah said, showing her Huntsclan mark.
“Sarah, you may be marked but you don’t have to do this,” Dave said softly to her. “This is almost like what happened to us,” Rose whispered to Jake, tears still running down her face. “I got to fulfill my destiny!” Sarah yelled and shot at Dave five times, each shot hitting Dave. “SARAH!” Jake yelled as Dave fell to the ground.

Here is the next update! Next chapter after this will have a plot twist ----------------------------------------------------- Chapter 49: Fleeing Dave looked up at Sarah. “Why?” was all he asked. “I can’t believe I did that. Dave! I’m sorry!” Sarah said. Laoshi moved towards Sarah and knocked her to the ground. Jake flew forward out of Rose’s arms and grabbed Dave. “Come on, we need to get you home,” he said softly. “Gramps! Rose! Haley! Come on! We need to go!” Jake yelled. The others took off in flight right behind Jake and they looked behind them to notice that not a single Huntsclan member saw them and that they were getting away without trouble. “Sir, how does Dave look?” Rose asked Laoshi. “I won’t be able to know until we get home to take a closer look. Until then, we just got to have faith that everything will be fine,” Laoshi said. They continued to fly when a green energy shot flew past them. Jake turned his head and say the Huntsmaster shot it. Karalyn shot a green arrow at them and it barely missed. “What is going on?!” Haley yelled. Rose growled in anger and turned back towards the Huntsclan. “Rose!” Jake yelled. Rose shot fire angrily at the Clan and hit the Huntsmaster. “This is for all the years you forced me to fight the man I love!” Rose yelled. She shot a fireball at him and it hit. Rose turned around and flew back towards the group. The group continued their flight home and arrived at the Long house. They entered the house in their human forms. Faye come out from the laundry room to see a bloody Dave. She gave a scream and David came running downstairs from his office. “What is going on?!” he yelled and saw Dave. “What happened?!” he asked. “It is a long story,” Laoshi said calmly and Jake carried Dave upstairs. Jake gently laid him down on the bed but when Jake tried to take his arms away, Dave clung to him. Jake looked back at Laoshi. “He is unconscious. He still thinks we are in flight and he is holding onto you for he fears he will fall,” Laoshi told him. Jake nodded and said, “Dave, you are home in bed now.” Dave then let go of Jake and Jake pulled his arms away. “Let me look at him,” Laoshi said and everyone but Laoshi left the room to give him some privacy. :”What happened Jake?” Faye asked. The story was explained. Faye and David was in shock and Faye almost fainted after the story. “So Dave was shot by the girl he loved?” David asked. “Yes, that is what happened,” Haley said. Laoshi then came down the stairs quietly. Faye stood up. “How is he Dad?” she asked. “He will be fine. I got him patched up and he will recover,” Laoshi said. David smiled. “That is great,” he said.

Chapter 50: An Unexpected Visit
Dave was lying in his bed, staring at the ceiling. He was recovering slowly from everything that had happened the previous night. He was still mad that Sarah had shot him and thought that if she really loved him, she wouldn’t have done that. He heard someone walk into his room and he turned to see who it was. He could have died on the very spot. “You have some nerve coming here Sarah,” Dave told her.
“I wanted to come to say I am sorry,” Sarah said, walking towards the bed. Dave growled at her and Sarah looked hurt. “I didn’t mean to hurt you,” she said. Then she felt Dave’s arms around her. She thought he was going to kill her on the spot but Dave just pulled her down onto the bed with him. She found herself being kissed by Dave. When they parted she said, “I love you Dave Long!” Dave kissed her. “I love you Sarah Jackson!” They started to hug each other and kiss and stare at each other lovingly.
Laoshi opened the door to check on Dave when he saw the sight of Dave and Sarah. He gave a small gasp and shut the door. He felt anger in him and he stomped down the stairs. “What is wrong Dad?” Faye called out. Laoshi went into the living room where Faye was and said, “Dave is upstairs, kissing that girl that shot him!” Laoshi almost exploded. “What?!” Faye exclaimed and they both went upstairs and saw the scene. Faye closed the door. “I can’t believe it,” she said. “I can’t either but we have to wait until they come out,” Laoshi said. They walked back downstairs and sat down. “What will happen after he recovers?” Faye asked.
“After he recovers I want to take him back to the Isle of Draco for training to become a councilor. It was his dream,” Laoshi told her. Faye nodded. “Do you think he can make it on the Dragon Council?” Faye asked. “I believe he can,” Laoshi told her. “I just hope that he doesn’t do something wrong,” Faye said.

Chapter 51: Curses
Dave and Sarah held each other and smiled. “I’m so sorry for shooting you Dave. I guess it was just the shock at finding out that you were a dragon,” Sarah said to him. “Baby, I love you no matter what you are or what you do,” Dave said. “Same for you,” Sarah said and they started kissing again. “Hold on,” Dave said and got up and locked the door. “Don’t want anyone coming in on our private time,” Dave told her and climbed back into bed.
Laoshi and Faye walked upstairs to see if Dave was fine when they heard moans and sayings of ecstasy coming from the other side of the door. Faye growled and started banging on the door. “Dave! Open up now!”” she yelled but this had the opposite effect. Dave and Sarah kept it up and the moans continued to increase in volume. Faye pounded on the door now and she finally stopped. “Curse you! You hurt my son!” she screamed at the door. Laoshi partly held on to the now crying Faye. “She hurt him and they are making love!” she said, crying.
Laoshi held on to Faye still. “I want her to die! She tried to kill my son!” Faye sobbed. Laoshi took a hold of her and brought her slowly downstairs. “I hate her!” Faye yelled. Dave and Sarah continued on and kept repeating their words of love as they continued expressing their love for each other. Finally, after a few hours, Dave and Sarah finally fell asleep in each others arms, wanting nothing to come between them ever again.

Chapter 52: Going To The Isle
Dave woke up the next morning to find himself still in Sarah’s arms. He got up and picked up his clothes from the floor and walked downstairs. He was confronted almost imediatly with an angry Laoshi. “What did you do last night?!” Laoshi yelled. “I slept with Sarah,” Dave said cooly. “SHE TRIED TO KILL YOU OR DID YOU FORGET?!” Laoshi proceeded to yell. “Gramps please, stop yelling or you will give yourself a heart attack,” Dave said. Laoshi seemed to become even angrier by these words. “What did you just say?”: he asked with a soft but deadly voice. Dave took one look at him and knew he made a mistake.
“Sorry, but I don’t see what the big deal is,” Dave said. “You don’t see? Try first of all, you only being sixteen and you have had sex with a girl already,” Laoshi said. “Jake got Rose pregnant before our birthday and I didn’t see you yelling at him. Besides, it wasn’t like I got Sarah pregnant,” Dave told him. “Second, she tried to kill you. She is your enemy,” Laoshi continued, ignoring Dave. “We love each other, she just made a mistake,” Dave said. Laoshi sighed, “You are perfect council material Dave but your trust may be your downfall,” Laoshi told him.
Dave sighed, “I know but I guess like grandfather like grandson,” Dave said. “What?” Laoshi asked. “I am like you in a way. You love Chang and have been seeing her yet you know she is your enemy. Just like I love Sarah and I slept with her even though she is my enemy,” Dave said. Laoshi sighed, “You are right young one,” he admitted. “Let’s head to the Isle of Draco now.” “Now?” Dave asked. “Yes, the sooner the better.” Dave nodded and looked back at the bedroom where Sarah was. “No one will hurt her,” Laoshi said. They left and went to the subway, heading to the Isle of Draco.
-------------------------------------
Edit: I changed the last sentence of the chapter. I originally had them flying but I decided to make them use the subway and when I finished typing the chapter, I accidently left in that they transformed. It is fixed now.

Thanks for the review and compliments! I always love seeing compliments on my work. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 53: Seeing The Council Laoshi and Dave arrived at the elevator and the code was entered. “Where is Jake?” Dave asked out of curiosity. “He is already at the Isle. Because you two are becoming close to adulthood for dragon, he has to train and take a final test when he turns eighteen,” Laoshi explained. “But we are only sixteen. Why is he training now?” Dave asked. “He is also there training Rose on how to handle her dragon powers,” Laoshi said. They entered the elevator and took it down to the Isle of Draco. When the doors finally opened, they stepped out onto the Isle of Draco. “I love coming here,” Dave said without really thinking about it. Laoshi just smiled and they walked to the council building where a cradle was sitting in the corner. “The baby!” Dave exclaimed and ran to the cradle. In it was the very child they saved from the Dark Dragon’s mansion. “Why is the child here?” Dave asked, picking it up. “We want to know how it is getting its dark powers. Something just doesn’t seem right here with the child,” Andam said. Dave looked at the cradle and thought, ‘Could it be the cradle that is doing it?’ He didn’t voice his thought out loud and continued holding the baby. “My baby Aaron,” he said. “What?” Kulde asked. “I am calling it Aaron,” Dave said. “Aaron?” Laoshi asked. “For the moment,” Dave said as if it were final. The councilors just sighed and said, “Now Dave, you are here to see us about a position on the dragon council,” Andam said. “Yes sir,” Dave said. “Well, before we start that, Laoshi, we want to ask you to be a member of the dragon council,” Kulde said. “Me? A member of the council?” Laoshi asked in disbelief. “Yes, you would be perfect for the position,” Andam said. “This is an honor. I accept,” Laoshi said. Dave smiled, “So coming here was good for us all,” Dave said. “Now onto your matter Dave. We would like you to take a test to become a member of the council. Because you are only sixteen, we will have to guide you for a little while but when you are eighteen you are free to do what you wish in the council,” Kulde said. Dave nodded, “I’ve been studying my whole life. Let’s take the test,” Dave said.

Chapter 54: News
*Three Weeks Later*
Dave shot fire at Jake and dove out of the way as Jake shot a fireball at him. “Is that all you got?” Jake asked. “I should be asking you the same thing!” Dave yelled and shot his own fireball at Jake. Jake moved when they heard a voice, “Councilor Long!” Dave and Jake landed and transformed back to their human forms. Dave saw Kulde standing there. “Councilor,” Dave said. “I see you are doing some training,” Kulde said with a smile. Dave gave a small, inaudible sigh of relief. “Yeah, just testing our abilities,” Dave said. “Dave sucks though,” Jake said playfully. Dave hit him on his shoulder. “Be nice,” Dave said laughing.
“I came to get you councilor Long because there is someone here to see you,” Kulde said. “Where?” Dave asked. “At the council building. I didn’t get her name unfortunately,” Kulde told him. Dave turned to Jake and said, “I will be back.” Dave and Kulde walked to the council building. “How does it feel being a dragon councilor?” Kulde asked Dave. “It feels great. I am loving every minute of it,” Dave told him. They walked up the steps and into the building when Dave saw Sarah. “Sarah!” Dave said and Sarah ran to him and hugged Dave. “I missed you Dave!” Sarah said. “How did you get here?” Dave asked. “Oh, I convinced a certain dog to tell me,” Sarah said. Dave rolled his eyes and Sarah laughed. “Why did you come here other than to see my pretty face?” Dave teased. “Oh, I came to tell you some good news,” she said. “Oh, what would that be?” Dave asked. “We are going to have a child!” Sarah said excitedly. Dave was surprised at this news and he walked over to the council table with Sarah and that took a seat beside each other. “I’m...going to be a...father?” Dave asked in disbelief. “Yes, you are,” Sarah said with a smile. “This is great news!” Dave said. “Congratulations Dave. This is another cause for celebration,” Andam said. “Another cause?” Sarah asked looking at Dave. “I am now a dragon councilor,” Dave said. Sarah smiled and hugged Dave. “Everything seems to be working out just perfectly,” she said.

Chapter 55: Advanced Shades
Dave and Sarah walked around the island, hand in hand. Dave still couldn’t believe the news that he was going to be a father soon. He started laughing and Sarah smiled and placed her head on his shoulder. The pleasant breeze surrounded them on that hot day. “Does it get any cooler than this?” Sarah asked. “It is usually pretty hot here,” Dave told her. “You and Karalyn, I need to know something,” Sarah said. “What is it?” Dave asked. “Did you know Karalyn at all?” Sarah asked Dave. “We grew up together. You see, she is a dragon as well but she turned her back on her own kind and joined the Huntsclan,” Dave said. Sarah gave Dave a look of mild surprise and they kept on walking until they stopped at a beach. “This is beautiful,” Sarah said, looking out. Dave pulled Sarah close. “Just like you,” he said. They turned and stared in each others eyes and then kissed. They pulled away and stared back out at the water. Dave smiled and transformed. “Climb on,” Dave said to Sarah. Sarah climbed on and held onto Dave. Dave took off and slowly flew around the island, showing Sarah the island from the air. The breeze felt good to Sarah and she wished the flight would never end. Dave eventually landed back on the beach and Sarah got off.
“That was great,” Sarah told Dave when he transformed to his human form. Dave hugged Sarah. “Dragons aren’t bad at all. Only very few are,” he told her. “I realize that now,” Sarah said and looked around when Dave heard a noise. He saw a Shade or what looked like a Shade. “What is that?!” Sarah cried out, holding onto Dave. The Shade had very sharp claws and just from looking at it, Dave could tell that Shade was unlike any other he had seen before. The Shade started to approach them and Sarah screamed. Dave grabbed onto Sarah’s hand and they started to run. They heard the Shade running right behind them and Dave turned to see it was faster than any other Shade as well. They ran into a small forest and crouched, hoping the Shade would go away. Then the Shade appeared and Sarah screamed again. “What is happening?!” she screamed. Dave held onto her and they fell backwards when the Shade took a step towards them. They crawled backwards, continuing to stare at the Shades. Dave didn’t want to take the chance of Sarah getting hurt if he left his side and he was afraid that his choice could cost them their lives.
