Lights began to dim across the skies of New York City. It was nearing 8 PM, and it was dead cold in the middle of October. The mist was unusual, but it didn’t stop anyone from doing their normal, boring daily routine.
“Holy crap! It’s alive! Ah! Kill it, kill it, KILL IT!” A voice screamed. The voice that had screamed was female and had red hair and deep blue eyes.
“It’s just a spider Ash! It’s not gonna kill you!” Another voice replied. He had thick, jet-black hair and brown eyes that were eyeing the spider that was at his feet. Ash didn’t look down; there was no way she could. Anything that was even closely related to a spider would make her jump, scream and run at least 20 feet away from the room it was in. (A/N: I really do that. XD) She hid behind the boy, and didn’t even bother to open her tightly shut eyes.
“That’s what you think!” Ash retorted, her eyes still glued shut. Even if Ash was behind him, and he couldn’t see her, he could tell that her body was shaking with fear. It was just her reaction to any spider. “Lewis, could you please just kill the spider?”
Since the moment I first spotted you,
Like walking around with little wings on my shoes,
My stomach’s filled with the butterflies.
[/b][/I]Like walking around with little wings on my shoes,
My stomach’s filled with the butterflies.
Lewis was silent. The way she reacted when she saw the spider, he just couldn’t help but to smile. He knew all too well that Ash would just think that him smiling was just his way to cover up his laughter, but little did Ash know, there was a very different reason why he had a smile on his face.
“What are you waiting for? Kill the d*mn thing!” She said, fear still clinging to her voice. Glancing around, he saw nothing that would kill the abnormally large spider. Well, he could use his foot, but then it would result in spider guts all over the bottom of his shoe. The black spider moved and he felt Ash jump up onto his back, clinging on to him. (A/N: awww. XD)
“KILL IT! KILL IT!” The redhead screamed in his ear, her arms clinging around his neck.
“Ash, I’d be able to kill it if you would get off my back,” Lewis replied, still trying to find something besides his foot to kill the spider.
“I am not putting my feet on the ground. There is no way you can make me, not a chance at all. If you kill that spider, I promise, I’ll get off,” She replied, her voice trembling more so now then it had before. Lewis sighed and then said, “Or, we could just get out of here, y’know.”
“But the spider could run after me! Can’t you please just kill it right now? I know that the spider is huge, compared to the normal ones we see, but just stomp on it! Who cares if your shoes are new? JUST KILL IT!” She replied, still clinging onto him, fear of letting go. Lewis’s face formed another grin as he raised his foot and killed the spider.
Ooh, and it’s all right,
Bouncing ‘round from cloud to cloud,
I’ve got the feeling like I’m never gonna come down,
If I said I didn’t like it, then you’d know I lied.
[/b][/I]Bouncing ‘round from cloud to cloud,
I’ve got the feeling like I’m never gonna come down,

There was the sound of something smushing against the floor, and Lewis raised his foot as both him and Ash, who had opened her eyes when she heard the smushing sound, looked down. “Eww,” Ash said, looking down at the green guts of the spider and it’s twitching legs as she got off Lewis’s back.
Every time I try to talk to you,
I get tongue-tied.
It turns out that everything I say to you,
Comes out wrong and never comes out right.
[/b][/I]I get tongue-tied.
It turns out that everything I say to you,
Comes out wrong and never comes out right.
The black haired boy opened his mouth to say something, but struggled to find the right words. Why was he getting tongue-tied? He could always talk to Ash without getting tongue-tied. “Uh - I – umm ... e-” Lewis tried to spit out, but just couldn’t find the words to simply say, “So, what do we do now?”
Ash looked up at him, “Are you okay?” She asked him. Lewis looked at her, snapping back into reality. “What? Oh yeah … I, yeah, I am,” He said. Wait, this didn’t make any sense. Just mere seconds ago, he was struggling to find the words to say to her, and now he could speak to her like nothing was wrong?
He knew all to well that he had a crush on her, but he had always been able to hind the fact. Not to mention that he could always talk to her without stuttering. But this … this was different.
So I’ll say, why don’t you and I,
Get together and take on the world and be together forever?
Heads we will, tails we’ll try again.
So I’ll say, why don’t you and I,
Get together and fly to the moon and straight on to heaven?
Cause without you, they’re never gonna let me in.

[/b]Lewis sat there on the couch, his mind racing. He knew that he liked Ash more than a friend, but what if he told her that he liked her and she didn’t feel the same way around him?
“Lewis, you have to tell her!” Emi said, sitting down on the carpet next to the couch. Lewis bit his lip.
“I want too … but what if she doesn’t like me back? I’ll just look like fool,” He said, looking down at the ground and began twiddling his thumbs.
“I’m sure that you won’t make yourself look like a fool. In fact, I know you won’t,” Liam said as he sat down next to Emi. Lewis bit his lip again, “How would you know?” he asked them.
“Really, can’t you just tell you won’t make yourself look like a fool? She likes you,” Emi said. Lewis looked at her, “Yeah, right,” he replied. Emi rolled her eyes, “Lewis, I know you’re worried that it might make your friendship awkward … that’s what everyone worries about when they fall for their best friend … but just take the chance!”
“And don’t worry about rejection, mate. Ash likes you, she wouldn’t reject you,” Liam said.
“Yeah, right,” Lewis said.
“SHE LIKES YOU, YOU A**HOLE! DON’T YOU GET IT?” (A/N: Liam’s a meanie. BIG TOUGH BULLY. *inside joke* XD)
There was silence between the three before Lewis let of a soft sigh. He didn’t know what to do, and he sure as hell couldn’t believe the fact that Ash liked him, but that just came with having a crush on your best friend and not sure if it would make it awkward. But maybe they were right, maybe Ash did like him.
When’s this fever going to break?
I think I’ve handled anymore than any man can take,
I’m like a love-sick puppy chasing you around.
[/b][/I]I think I’ve handled anymore than any man can take,
I’m like a love-sick puppy chasing you around.
“Do you want me to tell her for you?” Emi asked.
“Ok, ok, ok … I’ll tell her,” Lewis said, admitting defeat. He felt his stomach suddenly become sick at the thought of telling her. Biting his lip, he waited for Liam and Emi’s response.
“Good boy, Lewis,” They both said at the same time, a smile on their faces. Lewis gave a small smile as he got up and glanced out the window. But what if … what if, she did reject him? The thought just wouldn’t leave his mind. Both Emi and Liam knew that he was still debating with himself on telling her, but they both knew that he would do it sooner or later.
“Really, Lewis. Don’t let the fear of rejection get to you,” Emi said, putting a comforting arm on his shoulder. “I can tell you’re debating on whether or not you’re going to tell her, but once you tell her, it’ll all be over with. You might be surprised of what she’ll say when you tell her.”
Ooh, and it’s all right,

[/b]Denial.
One simple word that would speak more than a thousand letters jumbled together. I guess you could simply describe Lewis’s condition as ‘denial’, because that’s what it was. He had spent the last week or so trying to figure out how in the hell he was gonna tell Ash that he liked her. And every time Emi would ask if he had told her yet, Lewis would avoid her glance. Why must people on T.V shows and movies make it look so easy to tell someone you like them?
Every time I try to talk to you,
I get tongue-tied.
It turns out that everything I say to you,
Comes out wrong and never comes out right.
[/b][/I]I get tongue-tied.
It turns out that everything I say to you,
Comes out wrong and never comes out right.
“So … uh … I- .. eh – umm-” He began to stutter. It was just two simple words, “what’s up?”, so why was he stuttering so badly? During the whole week, whenever he was talking to her, he would stutter to her almost continuously.
Ash looked up at him, “Are you sure your ok? You’ve been stuttering a lot this week … Are you sick or something? Cause if you are, I don’t wanna catch what you have,” She said.
“What? No … I’m not sick, I’m just .. j-” And he was at it again, stuttering to say, “I’m just thinking about something that’s throwing me off track a bit,” But yet again, it was so hard to even say ‘hi’ to her now.
Ash, however, didn’t buy it. “Lewis, you’re stuttering again. Is there something you wanna tell me?” She asked him. Lewis felt his stomach do multiple back flips.
So I’ll say, why don’t you and I,
Get together and take on the world and be together forever?
Heads we will, tails we’ll try again.

Yes, yes, yes! There is something I want to tell you! Ash, I like you. I like you a lot, I like you more than a best friend. In fact, I think I love you, He thought to himself, biting his lip. He gave a nod of his head, and then suddenly realized what he was doing.
“Uh … no, there isn’t,” The black haired boy lied. He could feel his stomach doing back flips as Ash put her hand on his shoulder.
“You sure? You know you can always tell me anything. I guess I’m just a bit worried, ‘cause you’re acting a bit more odd than usual,” She said. Lewis said nothing as he looked out the window, where the rain was plastering against the window hard and uncontrollably.
Slowly, I begin to realize,
This is never going to end.
Right about the same tie you walk by,
And I say ‘Oh, here we go again’
Oh
[/b][/I]This is never going to end.
Right about the same tie you walk by,
And I say ‘Oh, here we go again’
Oh
“Yeah, I’m sure,” He said, avoiding her glance. The rain still plastered against the windows. “Well, we have to leave sometime, we might as well do it now,” He said, looking out the windows through the schools door.
“Might as well, we’re like the last people to leave,” The redhead said with a laugh. “Well, besides the teachers, but yeah, whatever.” Lewis gave a small laugh as both of them opened the doors and walked outside. Ash quickly put her sweatshirt hood over her head while Lewis grabbed one of his books and stuck it over his head, but it didn’t give as much protection as it did with Ash’s sweatshirt.
“So …” Lewis began to say, but he felt his throat close up. Oh god, not again! Ugh! That’s it! I’m gonna to tell her … right now
“Ash, there’s something I need to tell you,” He said as he held the book to cover his head from the rain with one hand and grabbed Ash’s hand with the other, causing her to stop. She looked up at him, “Yeah?” she said, pulling back the wet strands of hair in her face that the wind kept on blowing around.
Every time I try to talk to you,
I get tongue-tied.
It turns out that everything I say to you,
Comes out wrong and never comes out right.
[/b][/I]I get tongue-tied.

He shoved the dripped wet hardback book into his backpack and then looked at Ash, still holding one of her hands. Lewis put his free hand up against her face, and brushed back the strands of wet hair that was in her face. Ash’s face turned ten shades of red as he gently stroked her face.
Slowly, with the wind and rain still blowing towards them, he leaned in closer to her. Ash felt his lips press against hers, and almost jumped back, but stayed in the lip lock as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders as Lewis put his arms around her waist.
So I’ll say, why don’t you and I,
Get together and take on the world and be together forever?
Heads we will, tails we’ll try again.

After a minute or so, the two broke apart and looked into each other’s eyes, both of them smiling. “So … is that why you’ve been stuttering this past week?” Ash said, her arms still wrapped around his shoulders and his arms wrapped around her waist. Lewis gave a laugh.
“Yeah, I guess you could say that,” He said. Ash’s face was still bright red as she leaned towards him (A/N: on her tippy toes cause freaking Lewis is freaking taller than her by like … a lot. XD) and pressed her lips against his. The thunder began to roar over them as the rain become even more of a downpour …
So I’ll say, why don’t you and I,
Get together and take on the world and be together forever?
