I'm writing this as a modern tribute to one of H.P. Lovecraft's stories called "The Statement of Randolph Carter". It will take place in modern time unlike the original and will include my fan character in it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We see a dark and foreboding swamp and a putrid smell that reminds one of a corpse rotting away in sunlight, somewhere not too far ahead we see a young man walking in the swamps. He seems to be in an amnesiaic shock as he just wanders aimlessly until a pair of fishers discover him and pick him up on the boat, despite their best attempts to talk to the young man, he does not respond to anything, he just watches a cemetary far off in the distant with a blank stare, as if he had seen something very horrible. The fishermen decide to take the young man to a nearby town called Charlestown where they admit him to a mental hospital, the doctors attempt to speak to the man with everything they know, but he just keeps staring blankly.
Then we hear a young man's voice narrating.
"See that sad shape sitting in the corner there? Thats me. My name is Kåre Kristensson and I have had the most horrible experince ever in my entire life. And it all had its beginnings only the morning of this day."
A flashback and we see Kåre sitting at a desk, reading a Sherlock Holmes book while from time to time taking a sip from a mug containing soda. Then all of a sudden a man walks up to Kåre and coughs to get his attention. Kåre looks up and smiles, it seems like he knows the man.
"Long time no see, Kåre" the man says.
"You got that right, Nick. How have you been?" Kåre responds.
"I have been busy studying a new occult book I managed to obtain not too long ago" Nick says.
"Really? What is it about? Ancient spells or something similar?" Kåre asks.
"Something better, my friend, something better. The book has information about gateways between our world and another, a world that can't be described" Nick says with pride.
"What are you getting to, Nick?" Kåre asks with a hint of curiousity in his voice.
"I read that there is a such gateway in a cemetary in the swamps. I was thinking if you maybe could join me in this little adventure?" Nick asks.
"Why not? I have been having less and less things to do as of late, so I'm coming with you. When are we going to the cemetary?" Kåre says.
"Tonight. The weather is perfect for this sort of thing, clear nightsky and not too warm" Nick says.
"Alright. Will we need anything for this?" Kåre responds.
"We are gonna need two flashlights, one for you and one for me. A pair of walkie talkies and of course some food" Nick says.
"Only that? I can fix all that stuff in no time" Kåre responds with a smile.
"Good. Then meet at the docks at 19:00 hours tonight when you have the stuff" Nick says.
"Alright my friend. I'll be seeing you later tonight" he responds, Nick then smiles and walks away, Kåre reads a little more from the Sherlock Holmes book and then puts it aside and heads out into town to get the stuff they need, later that evening they both meet at the docks. Nick have a boat that has an engine that doesn't make too much noise, which is perfect for this.
They get on the boat and head into the swamps, Kåre feels a bit uneasy looking at the trees, they almost seem to have contorted faces that are screaming out in agony. But Kåre shakes the uneasiness away as they arrive at the cemetary. The cemetary's gates were covered in rust and made a bonechilling creaking sound as they opened up with great diffcultiy. Nick and Kåre then walks through the cemetary, Kåre doesn't know what to look for, but Nick seems to know, they keep walking until Nick stops at a big tombstone.
"Here lies that gateway. Help me push the tombstone" Nick says and Kåre helps him push the tombstone, underneath is a stairway that leads into darkness. Kåre lights one of the flashlights and shines it at the stairway, it seems to go deeper then it looks.
Kåre is just about to go down the stairs when Nick holds up his right hand and says "You can't go down there, I'll go down there by myself". Kåre looks worried at the idea and is just about to protest at it when Nick calmly says "Don't worry, if anything happens I'll contact you on the walkie talkie". Kåre nods and watches Nick head down the stairs into the cold darkness. Nick contacts Kåre a few times on the walkie talkie saying that he haven't found anything interesting yet, until....
"OH GOD!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!!!!" Nick's panicked voice shouts through the walkie talkie, causing Kåre to fall on his back, but he manages to quickly get up and says with noticeble touch of worry in his voice: "What is it Nick??? Are you hurt???".
"THERE IS SOMETHING AMAZING DOWN HERE!!! I CAN'T DESCRIBE IT, ITS SO AMAZING!!!!" Nick responds.
"Get out of there, Nick!!!" Kåre shouts in the walkie talkie.
"I CAN'T!! THAT THING WILL FOLLOW ME!!! GET OUT OF THE CEMETARY WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!! RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nick shouts and then Nick screams in pain and then its eeriely silent.
"Nick?" Kåre asks with a shaken voice, no response from Nick.
"Nick? Are you there?" He asks again with an almost panicked voice.
But then he hears something that made his blood go cold, an alien voice booming "YOU FOOL!!!!!! NICK IS DEAD!!!!".
Then everything goes black for Kåre and then we cut back to the present where Kåre is still sitting in a corner of the cell he was put in, staring blankly at a wall.
"When I told them about what had happend at the cemetary, they deemed me as a madman, perhaps that is the most merciful thing for me. The thing that got Nick can not be described and is too frightning to see. And therefore I can be considered a madman now, forever lost to a sea of madness and god knows what else" Kåre narrates as the camera zooms out of a lonely window in the cell and looks up at the moon and a bonechilling alien laugh can be heard.
The end.
