Ahh yes, Linux, it's been a very long time since we heard it. But sadly, when Linux remains not that very popular, we don't hear a lot of sound from it.

Ugh seriously guys I don't like at all this ribbon thingy God why can't they just keep the same thing Win7 has ? It's simple, logical and very easy, not like this ribbon thingy >.>

I know, but here's one reason why they put it into Windows 8, it's to make it touch-friendly when we use our fingers. No matter how we look at it, it's too late now.

They made their OS touch friendly, and their faces to me are very punch friendly.

what would be the smartest thing in the world for MS to do is have a stupid option that lets people like us just toggle back to the standard menu system. Businesses will be happy, mice users will be happy, tablet tools will be happy, MS will be $$$$$.
im still going to beta test the OS however if this ribbons not removable/hide-able i think for once i may be sitting on an older windows again. (i was one of those Win2k people that kept on saying that WinXP was bloated)

I did a short beta test of it on a VHD last week. It was not any good really... I think it was Build 7989 or something but it was not ready for daily use imo

I wish it was like you said Clone, as it would have given more flexibility to the OS >.>

I think it was Build 7989 or something but it was not ready for daily use imo dah... darn... beta might be a bit further off then i wanted then. in the mean time, Ive been able to find that their is indeed a hide button for that parcty ribbon in explorer so i should be happy. (look closly at the published screens LINKi'm all keyboard and right click-y so Ive never once used that menu up their before so the ribbon change wont be a bother. (however still a Nuisance)

Since I didn't beta test the product, which usually I don't (Not even when Vista & 7 were in beta tests that time), but we'll see. The explorer will be fine as long as they minimize it to avoid nonsense inconveniences. But what I'm still aftering is the ability to keep the traditional UI rather than have to see the startup Metro boxy style all the time and have to switch to the old one manually.

I prefer to minimize all the way including setting to the traditional UI permanently, it's kind of like turning on the Aero mode or off and we have a choice. So far, we may still hate them, but these bad features are already set in stone, poor Bill Gates that he's no longer our true pirate of Silicon Valley. Now he's nothing but a retired captain and can't provide anymore good ideas.

weather or not you can default in to the traditional desktop or not is still up in the air, hopefully this can be confirmed some time before beta as i really have no want to mess with metro on a desktop.

I think it's a side thing. Like maybe a hotkey combiniation or touch/trackpad gesture/swipe will bring the Metro UI up

Same case like my father's HTC Mozart, there's a shortcut that leads to the Metro UI. But luckily, thanks to HTC, the Sense UI kept him from being all pi$$ed like I do, just like me, he prefers that UI more than WP7's. Even if he would to pick iOS or Android, he'll love them both for being a lot more friendly to the customer's eyes and appeal.
