I hope so when it comes to the UI selection, if everything is all Metro and even if you set traditional and won't revert back and must always set it manually every restart, then it's a problem. A hack is always preferred when it comes to certain things we don't want.

the point of my post was as it is its a really simple registry hack to get it to ALL WAYS boot to the traditional desktop UI. (literally just changing a 1 to a 0) if its that easy to make a permanent setting change then they really should allow this natively threw the OS. it would make businesses happy, enthusiasts happy and let the average dumb consumer continue being belligerent. (seeing as they will more than likely welcome the simplicity of metro, as most consumers see the computer as a box of confusion)

Even still, I hope the OS is friendlier as well, iSheeps continue to say Mac is way more user-friendly than Windows, let's hope Microsoft can tip over. Or maybe they already is except iSheeps really love to bash Windows.

I say Mac is more user-friendly because the UI makes for a quicker workflow and is easier to learn. Also OS X is specifically made for the computers which it is officially supported on (by which I don't mean that Microsoft doesn't do the same, just that the OS X range of computers is small enough for Apple to customize for that range alone.). Still I have mad love for Windows and I have a Boot Camp partition on my Mac which is really essential for me especially now that I havn't gotten to learn the video editing software on a Mac so well. So I vote in favor for both

Hmm, no wonder. Not to mention I remember there's a myth that Mac can utilize all the processing power while the PC only use up about 70% or 80% of the entire horsepower. Even my own i7 I was expecting to be blazing fast, but sadly it's not always the case.

that is one nice thing apple has over windows with its limited hardware support. it can really optimize the OS for what its sitting on. (similar to how counsels work for gaming)
if your willing to learn a new UI and work with its limitations (so far limitations that i'm unwilling to work with) then the metro UI of windows 8 will be really simple. its pretty much a updated version of the windows Phone7 UI which while not the sexiest UI out there, it is the simplest one and one of the quickest. considering that most people are moving to tablets, MS's push for a tablet friendly OS may pay off in the long run even if its enthusiast groups don't move up this iteration.
one thing about PC performance. its all about the slowest part in the system. to eliminate that issue, i use an SSD. (set up as a Intel SRT drive) gives me fantastic performance for boot, internet, applicators and the few games i still play. (however the way an os is written can still have great effect on disk performance, consider windows XP vs 7 in disk IO performance)
also those numbers on maximum usage by windows are probably form windows XP. back when the threading scheduler was parc. it should be much better now. (however it will never make it to the usage of Apple's OS on Mac)
i'm still waiting on the day that a Mac doesn't treat me like i'm stupid while it acts stupid. getting tired of it saying "**** what your doing im doing this" or "your files are ****ed, U MAD?". i've lost hours of work to its shenanigans. (and grades)

Yeah, Metro UI, very simple but very ugly. I prefer the square types like Android & iOS would use.

after 4 pages of looks bashing i was hoping that we were past that and on to being capable of intelligently discussing the usability, features and functionality of Windows 8. but i guess i was wrong...

if that thing gets a full sized x86 processor then it could vary well be the first tablet to be wholly comparable to a laptop. basically, this could be the first tablet that wont require a PC counter part (awesome!) and would open up the options of tablets as a true successor in the portable computing market. (i'm still partial to keyboards, but Ive all ways despised track pads)
this is finally getting interesting, Microsoft's actually got a well known hardware manufacturer working with its new OS in the manner which its been wanting it to be. (also Bulldozer has shown marked improvement under windows 8)

um, all that they are doing is giving a larger auto grace period. (and as usual you can just turn off the auto updater or installer, as i do)
also it now wont kill your parcs to do the reboot.
your reacting to a positive like its a negative, your confusing the truth.
