This movie obviously is for mature audiences only.
But d*mn! That's one heck of a movie! A+!
EDIT: Apparently my last line didn't make it here.
This discussion is for the original version of the movie. Known as the directors cut.

I read the short story it's based on and I just saw it on Halloween.
I'd say that it does justice to the story, however emphasis was put more heavily on different things in the story and the movie. In the story the part with the phone saying "Six, this is six. all your friends are dead, we have killed all your friends." was more important than other things. Overall though it gets pretty d*mn creepy, good casting too.

The directors cut does actually say that phone line. The ending on the directors cut is completely different than the theatrical release.

The trailer was friggin misleading. XD
Concept was awesome, but I don't think they did Steven King's story justice...
It wasn't even that scary... The movie "The Descent" was friggin gnarely... I had nightmares from that...

I had nightmares from that... It's not meant to be scary in the sense of spook. It's meant to be scary in the sense of "what's next?". Though, if you haven't seen the Directors Cut, you should. It's far different. I don't want to produces a spoiler, but go on Wikipedia, and look for the "Alternate Ending", which is technically the "Original ending"..

It's not meant to be scary in the sense of spook. It's meant to be scary in the sense of "what's next?". Well duh, it's Steven King, he's the master of suspense. What I was saying was that I don't think they did King's story justice... I think they could have made it better, but that's just my opinion. I'm a movie FREAK, and one tough critic. XDD I rented the DC. Yeah, gore doesn't "spook" me, it just makes me go: "egh... that was gnarly".. Although, if it was ever to be used correctly, it could add to the realism of the situation. The best use I've ever seen it used was in the descent. (I don't know why, but that movie freaks me out... XD) I've seen a several Steven King movies, and 1408 isn't the greatest IMO. None-the-less, I still enjoyed the film.
