"Papers Walls" is the sixth album from Florida based, Punk Rock band, Yellowcard which is actually yet to hit the stands until July 17th. Fortunately, I was able to find myself a Torrent of this album and download it over a week before it was released.
Anyway, what can be said about Yellowcard's new album? Well, it's great. Probably their best work yet. The band abandoned their 'more rock' style featured on their previous work "Lights & Sounds" and returned to highlighting what made the band famous, Sean Mackin's Violin.
The album is of incredibly high standard (especially seeing as it was released only one year after "Lights & Sounds"), with each song holding the potential to reach single status ranging from Acoustic to Soft Rock to the band's famous Punk Rock style.
The lyrics feature some of Key's greatest work yet, showcasing a great story or message with every song. Such as love, and how it can be pure and everlasting, even when two people reach their elder years (as shown in the song "Dear Bobbie") and several songs portraying the regret and misfortunate experienced with the departure of former Lead Guitarist Ben Harper from the band, in the song "Five Becomes Four".
The first single "Light Up The Sky" has hit radio stations recently and is in the process of making a music video as well. Though, I personally prefer "Fighting" and believe it should've been the debut single.
But overall, this is a great album that I would recommend to any fan of Rock or Punk.
Track Listing:
1. "The Takedown"
2. "Fighting"
3. "Shrink The World"
4. "Keeper"
5. "Light Up The Sky"
6. "Shadows And Regrets"
7. "Five Becomes Four"
8. "Afraid"
9. "Date Line (I Am Gone)
10. "Dear Bobbie"
11. "You And Me And One Spotlight"
12. "Cut Me, Mick"
13. "Paper Walls"
