You probably need to update your version of Java.

Oh my god the lol smiley.
Anyawys, it could be a flash problem. Or a screwy thing in the server. Have you tried signing out and back in?

I don't think the chat room uses Flash. So it wouldn't be that. It could be a security issue on the computer though, parental software can disable the use of Java.

Running behind a proxy?
Try a different browser, preferably Mozilla Firefox.

Oh your on Linux? You should have mentioned that from the start.
Do "about:plugins" in the URL without quotes.. Make sure Java is installed correctly. It should show JRE (Java Runtime Environment).
Since this is a Linux question, I can't help you here.. I only support Windows and Mac OS (which is sorta close to Linux, in the sense of Unix commands), but not Linux or raw Unix.
Hopefully someone here with experience with Linux can help, especially your specific distro (which you should state).

Uhhm... I'm also experiencing problems with the chat, (I have Windows, I SWEAR!!!) but it's not the Java issue... The chat is nowhere 2 be seen... Is it my skin or are you updating something??

Guys I can help ( I'm pretty good in computer stuff and even a bit with Linux ) . So I think that you'll have to enable the Java Scripts of your internet browser. Swedish Drag' tel me : are you usign Firefox -like me - or Internet Explorer or another browser ?? For you Protoss Dragon I think that the problem is the same : your browser can load the page but he can't show it because a script couldn't be runned so , you know what to do ^^
