An Unlikely Adventure

Chapter 2: Friends All AroundThe elevator had gone down and the two made their exit out.
Have you ever had an elevator going up and down twenty-one miles per hour? I have. And let me tell you this now, it screws up your ears like they’re probably bleeding, doesn’t it? No? I thought it did. I mean, you probably wouldn’t know. Unless you went to the Stratosphere in Vegas… their elevators zoom like… WHOA.
…………………
Okay, what am I doing again? Oh yeah.
“So, where to start?”
Jake was looking around at the number of people on the first floor. “More like, how many are we going to get through in one moment? It’s like a zoo in this place.”
I kind of admit it; he’s right. I mean, when was he ever right? Well, I guess you can say that now he was; it was like a zoo in the first floor. You have to be there to see it; I know THAT… but come on, what kind of school doesn’t have probably more than hundreds of people? Ahhh, when gives you lemons you get… a fan fic update.
Uhhh… yeah, sure… one heck of an update written by a hyper lunatic that’s never written like this before.
Yeah, I guess I’ll just be quiet now. I have no life, you know?
Jake was scanning around through the crowd, noticing that someone who seemed oddly familiar was over at their direction. “Cat?”
Cat turned around and saw Jake. “Oh, hi Jake!!”
“You… know her?” Kellen acted a little surprised.
“Yup! And… hi Kel!” Cat walked over and gave him a hug. This time, Jake was confused too. She glanced at the perplexed twosome, watching as they both looked at her and each other funny. “What?”
“Wait… seriously, did you guys meet before?” Kel asked first.
“Yeah. She was the first one I met and made friends with in this school.” Jake glanced over at Cat then back at Kel. “And… are you two like… boyfriend and… uh, girlfriend?”
“Guess you can say that,” Kel said.
“And you didn’t tell me this, why?” Jake asked.
“How am I supposed to think to ask? Besides… it’s not like I know everything…”
“Hah, no joke.”
“Hey!”
Cat stared at the immature bickering of the two with a slightly formal look in her face. “Come on, you two. Stop kidding around.”
“Right.” Kel said. “Now are there any other people I should know that you… know?”
Jake took a glance around the building to undertake the attempt on looking out for Shade, if he were somehow on the foremost level. And it was just his luck; he spotted him with a couple of friends.
He walked over to where he was as Kel and Cat followed slowly, holding a discussion of their own (with each other). Aww, isn’t that just sweet?
“Hey Shade!”
This call for him made him turn around and abruptly stop a conversation he was having with two other people, but he didn’t seem to mind, though. In fact, he was actually excited to see Jake again. “Hey there Jake! Great to see ya again!! What’s up?”
The other two people Shade was talking to were looking at him with sheer confusion. They had no idea who Jake was, obviously. And the other observable part was that at least one of them had popped up the sudden question of, “Who is this person?”
Shade looked at his perplexed companions. “This is Jake… He’s new here!”
Jake gave a nod and was now the only baffled individual at the moment. “Now, who are your friends?”
One of them came up to Jake and decided to speak up first. “Hey there. I’m Ashleigh! I’d rather you call me Ash, though.” She sounded real blissful and perky, a lot like Shade, outgoing and very energized.
The boy next to Ash seemed a little more introverted and silent. So she decided to speak on his behalf… Shy people always need that… ahhhh… I remember when I was that diffident.
“Oh yeah, and this is Alphonse. He’ll appreciate it if you call him Al, though. I’m sure…”
Al just gave a slightly timid wave and mouthed a hello. Ash glanced back at Jake, who then noticed that Kel and Cat were busy with their own conversation. They spotted the two hugging.
“Lemme guess, you know about those two?” She was pointing over at the lovely couple.
Jake looked back at Kel and Cat. “Yeah.”
“Well, they’re not the only couple in this school.” She gave a wink at the slightly jealous Jake. After all, Rose wasn’t with him at this school… It’s sort of discouraging, you know?
“So I guess you and Al is the ‘other’ couple at this school?” Jake scratched the back of his head.
“Took you a while to figure that out.” She joked a little. “Yeah.”
“Riiiight. Congratulations.” Jake said with some sarcasm.
“Gee… thanks.”
Ahhh… what would we do without sarcasm? I don’t know. Don’t ask me.
Jake looked around to see if he could find someone so he could introduce himself by his own.
He searched around and around the building, spotting all sorts of things along the way…
Jake was investigating near the floor and was taking note of things such as specific statues and figures… unusual and unique signs and markers that passed him. It’s smart to do something like that. What? Is he trying to act intellectual now? I don’t know. Why don’t you ask him later?
It was like a sort of outdoor marketplace on the first floor… only there was a roof, of course. And there were no shops and whatnot. There were no huge windows or doors that covered the entire story… it was more of an open atmosphere along the sides. Brings in the air, doesn’t it?
As he searched through, he had noticed that a girl around his age was observing him outlandishly, as if he were somebody new…
Oh wait, he kind of is… What am I saying today?
“Hey, who are you?” A girl eyed Jake strangely but with soft, exciting grins. “Guessing you aren’t from around here, are you?”
He seemed a little baffled and nervous. “Well, I just… moved here.”
“Cool! Name’s Kay! What’s your’s?” The hyperactive girl pushed her dirty blonde hair out from in front of her shoulders.
“I’m Jake.” He looked agitated compared to the friendly and upbeat girl. They both shook hands.
Kay was beaming and talking sort of fast. “Oh my gosh! Is that a dream charm? I don’t need one since I can enter people’s dreams anytime I want to! Isn’t that cool?”
Jake looked at the charm dangling in his wrist… It reminded him that he was going to see Rose in his dreams later that night. Ahhh dream charms are a great magical invention, huh? “I see…”
“I see you’ve met Kay.” Kellen said from behind, who was still standing next to Cat. Jake almost jumped but gave a meek smile.
“Heh, don’t worry.” Cat said. “Kay is always hyper like that.”
Jake didn’t deny that and shook his head slowly. He had more to look around to so he started off… then realizing that he was about to leave Kel and Cat. “Hey, where are you going?”
“Sorry,” Jake put a hand behind his head sheepishly.
Well, you should be! You were about to leave your friends! Tsk, tsk… I’m glad they didn’t say that to him. Come on, this is nearly just the beginning of the story… would I really let him lose friends that early?
If I was evil, I would… but I’m a nice person, so I’ll let that slide… for now.
“Anywaaaay… Is there anybody else I should know about?”
“How about me?”
Jake turned around and saw another person he had no clue about. “Uh, sure. I… Hi… I’m Jake.”
“Nice. Name’s Mark.” He didn’t have much to say… or didn’t want to say much for that matter.
“Umm, nice you meet you.”
They both sort of fell silent after shaking hands. Jake had no idea why Mark was being a little quiet, but he just shrugged and said, “Uh, guess I’ll see ya around.”
For some strange reason, Jake had wandered off from the two and started heading over to see if he could meet somebody… you know, who… said more.
Hey, don’t look at me like that. That’s his thoughts, you weirdos.
After sauntering the halls with such pleasure, he seemed to be finding himself roaming around the back of the school. It actually wasn’t as quiet as he thought.
In fact, there were a lot more people than he thought…
There were a lot of “groups” of people hanging around each other. More like cliques and other might call a “gang”.
Yup, it was just like any other school. Where you have to cope with people in a group or hang around alone. That was how some people are these days. I mean, cliques? What the heck are people thinking today?
“Oh, sorry.” Jake almost bumped into one of the people around the area. “I’m… sorry.”
“It’s alright.” The browned hair girl said sweetly. She pushed her long hair back and smiled kindly. “Nice to meet you. My name’s Leah. What’s your’s?”
“Oh, uh… hi Leah.” Jake said softly. He seemed to have glanced at her familiar appearance. “My name’s Jake.”
Naw, she can’t be like a twin of Rose. What am I thinking? Jake shook his head momentarily and cleared his throat.
“Nice! So, I’m guessing you’re new here, huh?” She said.
“Yeah, everybody seems to be noticing that today.” Jake looked down awkwardly.
“Hey, who’s your friend?” Another girl walked over next to Leah.
Leah turned to her compadre. “Oh, this is Jake.” She pointed to him, who waved quickly. “He’s new here.”
“Cool! Nice to meet you Jake, my name’s Madisen.” She said, holding out her hand. Jake held out his as well and they both shook hands.
“So, you girls are like, sisters?” Jake couldn’t believe he was asking that question.
“No.” Leah giggled. “We’re just like, best friends… you know?”
“Oh…” Jake grinned nervously. “I’m… sorry. You guys just seem like you guys are really close friends, you know?”
“I see.” Madisen and Leah said concurrently.
“Hey, you said what I said!”
“Jinx!”
“Double jinx!”
Jake looked at them funny. “Wow, did you guys like… rehearse that or something?”
“No… I guess that just happens sometimes, ya know?” Leah said.
“Heh, I guess.” Jake smiled at the two. “Well, I guess I’ll see you two around?”
“Sounds great.” Madisen said.
“See ya later, Jake!” Leah waved.
Before Jake walked away, he turned back around and eyed Leah. “Are you sure, I don’t know you from somewhere?”
“Well, we just met. How could you have?”
“Heh, guess so. Thanks. And uh… sorry about earlier.”
“Like I said, it’s alright.”
Jake bid his last farewell to the girls and started heading off on his “quest to get to know the other people around the school”.
He continued wandering around the outside of the boarding school and seemed to still be enjoying the cool air that surrounded him refreshingly.
The sun was beaming radiantly at the sky as he kept on strolling around. It wasn’t hot nor was it cold. It was oddly uplifting… made him feel relaxed.
Jake had come across another group of people… someone above the age, I guess.
The three seemed to have noticed him pass by and one of them came up to him first. “Hey there. Are you lost or something?”
“Oh, no… I’m new here… but I’m just taking a look around.” Jake said.
“Oh, cool. So, you new here, huh? I’m Josh. What’s your’s?”
“Jake… Jake Long.”
They both shook hands and looked at each other as if they were already close friends.
“These are my friends, Atecom and Lavitz.” He pointed to each one as he went.
Jake turned to his acquaintances. “Hey. I’m Jake.”
“Nice to meet you.” Atecom said first.
“Cool.” They both shook hands as well.
Lavitz acted a little quiet but still at least mouthed a ‘hello’ and shook hands with his new associate.
It seemed like Josh’s friends were pretty quiet compared to him… since Josh seemed to be doing most of the talking for the past couple of minutes…
“So, where’s your dorm again?” Josh asked.
“Oh, it’s at the fifteenth floor… room 741.”
“Ahhh, roomies with Kellen, eh?”
Jake nodded. “Yup.”
“I see… My room isn’t that far away… room 719.” Josh said. “See ya around?”
“Definitely.” Jake said. He turned to the other two. “You two too.”
Atecom and Lavitz had always seemed to had mentioned their dorm rooms too…
And as Jake had said to his other new friends, he promised to drop them a visit when he had time.
“See ya guys!”
Jake waved goodbye and continued back where he came from. When he walked further inside, he noticed that there were less people. Cat and Kel were among of the only people left and called over for him. He walked on over.
“So, did you meet some new people?” Cat asked.
Jake nodded. “Yup. I think that’s everybody.”
“Not quite.” Another person walked over.
“Guess you never met Kevin before, have you?” Kel said.
“I guess not.” Jake said sheepishly, turning to Kevin. “Hey there, name’s Jake.”
“Cool, you know me, of course… Kevin.” He said.
“Yup. Nice to meet ya, dude.”
“You too.”
They both shook hands. And just like with Josh, Jake felt like he had know him for years after only such a momentary conversation.
OoOoOoOoOoO
It had been such a day for Jake already. Meeting a lot of people and making friends with them…
I guess it wasn’t that hard to make friends after all. Jake always thought after that moment.
“Hey Jake, man… you think we should be heading back?” Kel asked him, pointing to the sun, which was placed in the central point of the sky… almost below the horizon.
“Yeah, guess so.” Jake replied to his roommate.
“Would you mind if I came along too?” Cat came from behind and was walking with the threesome.
“Of course!” They both said.
Cat grinned. “Goodie!”
The three headed up their way toward the fifteenth floor alongside each other, holding a conversation that seemed so funny that there was so many laughs and giggles coming from them.
“Man, I never thought that everyone would be this friendly.” Jake said.
“Why?” Cat asked.
Jake paused. “Never mind. I think I’ll like it here.”
End Chapter TwoSorry if it took a little while to post. And if it didn't seem as great, I'm sorry. I wasn't in the greatest mood while I was writing this, to be honest. I don't know why...
;;
Anyway... chapter three is almost done. Leave it to me and be stupid then write chapter three while chapter two is not freaking done yet.
