Thanks for the replies! Yayie! Here's chapter three. All you need to know is that the song is bolded and italicized and the thoughts are italicized. ^^
Chapter 3: Far Away
After a heart-warming afternoon, Jake and Kel, along with Cat, had gone upstairs to their dorm. It was such a pleasure to the innovative Jake that they paid attention to someone who was unfamiliar to the surroundings of the school.
It really made him feel “at home”…
But something… just something seemed to trouble him… Making him feel distressing and low. Kel and Cat had noticed and stopped what they were doing right away. Jake was looking out the window… the sky lit a light blue and periwinkle. It was a pretty sight to see outside.
“Hey… you look a little… down. What’s up?”
Jake turned to Kellen and Cat. “Nothing… I… just… I miss someone, that’s all.”
“Oh? Your friends?” She guessed.
“Naw.” Jake shook his head slowly. “It’s some girl…”
“Girlfriend?”
He nodded. “But I didn’t even get to say something to her for a while.”
“I see…”
Jake took a seat on the bottom bunk of the bed. The two had followed and placed their selves next to him. “So, what else is it that’s bothering you about her?”
“Don’t even get me started…” He said. “You know how you’ve heard of the thing called opposites attract?” Jake started to break it down a tad first then take it a little more rapidly.
“Um… yeah. What about it?”
Jake took a deep breath. “Well, I’m a dragon right? And you know this group called the Huntsclan? Erh, she’s kind of part of it.”
Kel paused. “Wait, wait, wait… stop right there. Did you say… Huntsclan?”
“Yeah, I know hard to believe but—”
“No, you don’t understand. I’m part of it too!”
Jake looked a little stunned. “Oh my… I… me… uh… great! I mean… uh… do you know this girl there named Rose?”
“Yeah, of course.” Kel said. “What about her?”
“Whoa… so, you two are actually… friends or something?” Jake tried to make sure. Kel gave a nod. “Soo… that means… you’ve gotten in touch with her lately?”
“Totally. She’s always bugging me if she’s ever met this guy named Jake… Wait… so… you and Rose are boyfriend and girlfriend, right? So… that means… WHOA. That’s awesome!! I can finally tell Rose that I found you!”
“Huh?”
Cat whispered to Jake. “Don’t worry, I’m confused too.”
“Anyway… You see… Rose has always been bothering me to find you so you two can reunite together again without having any troubles. Since she’s always telling me how you guys still go to the same school… but the Huntsman’s been keeping a close eye on her.” Kel started off.
“So… if you were looking for me, why are here?” Jake asked.
“It’s kind of complicated. But the Huntsman wanted me to move here so I can get information about what’s going on and anything new that’s taking place. Even if, you know… I’m not even sure what he’d do with a quiet, normal magical creatures boarding school. Nothing interesting has been goin on besides you moving here.”
Jake, already, was titling his head in confusion. “I see…”
“I just… want to see Rose without having any troubles… I mean the dream thing has been pretty cool… but I want to see her in real life.”
“Yeah, Rose told me about this dream charm she’s always using.”
Jake showed Kel the dream charm he had. “I know… it’s cool and all… buuut… it’s still so hard because every time I wake up, I feel like we’ve pulled apart again. Like we’re still so far away from each other.”
“I feel ya. But that’s love, man… What are you gonna do?”
“I just… got to find her.”
“Crazy, much?”
“But you know, Rose has been telling me what’s been going on in the Huntsclan every night in my dreams.”
“Really, like what?”
“Like how the Huntsman totally bought the whole, ‘pelt of the American Dragon thing’ or whatever. And how their entire search for another dragon has gone… downhill… if you know what I mean.”
“Say what? Jeez… they never tell me these things anymore.” Kel mumbled to no one in particular.
“What was that?”
“Uh. Nothing! Anyway… is that all she’s been telling you?”
Cat glanced at him peculiarly. “Ahem…”
“Right. But you know, if you see her every day at school and every night in your dreams, what more do you need?”
“That’s just the thing, Kel. I know I see her every day and every night… but when we’re in school, it’s like she’s such in a hurry and we can never pick up a good conversation, you know? And whenever my stupid alarm clock wakes me up every single morning to interrupt the time we have together… It’s just hard to spend time with her. She might be around the corner from me or something, but it’s just not enough.”
“Wow…”
“Yeah, you know… I want more than just short instances together at school… and dreams at night that relentlessly get interrupted because of the early morning… it’s like a TV show leaving me in suspense; WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?”
“Jeez, you’re like a soap opera… only without supplementary characters and a television to fit it in…” Cat said incoherently.
“I guess drama and missing someone can get the best of me and… wait, what am I saying?”
Yeah, good point. What is he saying? I don’t even understand him anymore… And I’m the one writing this story, jeez! What have you gotten yourself into, Jake? Liek wtf were ya thinkin man? … Oh wait, that’s a conversation I should be holding on AIM. Anyhow… let us continue on with this episode.
“Eh, you know… if you feel that way, I guess I can find a time when Rose ain’t busy… then I can bring her over here.”
“How?”
“Trust me, there’s more to the Huntsclan than just… never mind. Just trust me okay?”
“Okay, okay… but thanks. Normally this doesn’t happen until I become really good friends with someone… and I guess you kind of are like my best friend and all but…”
“Blah, blah, blah! You’re like a sports car that never stops going. Going on and on and on and on… BLAAAH. Oh sorry, did I say that out loud? That was supposed to stay in my mind and… gaaah, I’ll be quiet now.” Cat grinned sheepishly.
“Guess I kind of am hogging your time, huh?” Jake said nervously.
Cat felt almost completely awful. “No, no… it’s not that. Oh, don’t mind me. I can be stubborn sometimes, you know? Gah, Cat… why do you have to be such a jeeeerk?”
(A/N: I think that to myself all the time. RAFFI… Why do you have to be such a jeeeerk? :000 Anyway…)
“Heh thanks. I guess I haven’t been able to have such a good conversation like this in a while…”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s just… I know I got my best friends, but we… I always seem to space out and talk about something else. And you know, they kind of get tired hearing me blather on about how I miss Rose and everything. I’ve always just wanted someone to talk to about this…”
“Well, we’ll tell you this now then, Jake; whenever you need to talk about something, we’re always here…” Cat said. “Oh, and if you need a shoulder to cry on, that’s me! I… I mean… Don’t ask me! Heh, I mean… I’m sure there are plenty of other girls that would totally help you. Not that we can’t.”
“Oh… kaaaay. I don’t know whether if I should be terrified or grateful.” Jake turned to Kel.
“Just be grateful.” He nodded.
“Okaay… then I’m… GRATEFUL! Thanks!”
After having one of the most unsurpassed discussions he had had in a while, Jake lied in his bed… thinking about what would happen if he saw Rose again…
“Hey Jake, Kel and I are gonna hang out with some friends downstairs… wanna come?” Cat asked sweetly.
“Oh, no thanks… I just need a little time to… think.”
Cat smiled cutely. “Alrighty. Well, we’re just on the first floor if you need us. It’s a really nice hangout spot at night, by the way. So if you wanna come, you’re always welcome!”
“Thanks.” He said.
No wonder she’s Kel’s girlfriend… Jake thought as Cat made her way downstairs.
“Rose… what if I really did see her again?”
This time, this place
Misused, mistakes
Too long, too late
Who was I to make you wait
Just one chance
Just one breath
Just in case there's just one left
'Cause you know, you know, you know
“Rose!!”
“Jake!!”
They both ran over to each other and wrapped their arms around the other. “I can’t believe it’s you again!!”
“Oh, I can’t believe it’s you either, Jake! I really missed you.”
“I did too… so much.”
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymore
“So, now that we’re here… what do you want to do?”
“Hmm…”
On my knees, I'll ask
Last chance for one last dance
'Cause with you, I'd withstand
All of hell to hold your hand
I'd give it all
I'd give for us
Give anything but I won't give up
'Cause you know,
you know, you know
They both headed over somewhere that seemed a lot like the first floor of the boarding school… and it was. Only… it looked a lot different.
For one thing, everyone was there… all of Jake’s new and old friends. It was all the people Jake remembered, recognized, and made friends with.
And it looked a lot more like… you know, a paradise…
“May I have this dance?”
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymore
“You may.”
Jake and Rose both took hands and started traveling through the entire area with ease… no interruptions… just the two of them.
Everybody watched… some doing a couple of awes as they did.
So far away
Been far away for far too long
So far away
Been far away for far too long
But you know, you know, you know
They shared their last dance with a serenade…
A soft, but sweet, one that went along with the music that seemed to have chimed together in their hearts.
“Is this the last time we’ll ever get to do this?”
“We’ll have to figure out ourselves…”
I wanted
I wanted you to stay
'Cause I needed
I need to hear you say
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I forgive you
For being away for far too long
Before they both departed, they both shared a last heart-warming cuddle… both not wanting to let go.
“I just wanted to see you again… and now I got my wish.”
“So did I…”
“I guess we both did, huh?”
“Yeah…”
So keep breathing
'Cause I'm not leaving you anymore
Believe it
Hold on to me and, never let me go
Keep breathing
'Cause I'm not leaving you anymore
Believe it
Hold on to me and, never let me go
Keep breathing
Hold on to me and, never let me go
Keep breathing
Hold on to me and, never let me go
Jake heaved a sigh… but not a sad, gloomy one… but content and relieved. His thoughts were probably never this happy in the longest time…
He then thought about what Cat said about meeting some friends and left the dorm room with a flash, going down the elevator.
“Hey, wait up, you guys!!”
End Chapter Three
Not the best, I know. Fitting that song into a thought like that wasn't the greatest idea... but I loved 'Far Away' so much when I wrote that chapter... so gedduvah it. It was 8 pages of pure crappyness. XD
I should've written this while I was in a more 'sensitive' mood... hehe. ^^;;
Well, chapter four is already being worked on. It's the least I can do since I skipped merely two weeks on AUA. Plus, I'll take a little more time on it. x.x;
