My friend, Marcie, and I started writing this. You should be able to find out why it's called ''Two Short'' as you read it. Marcie and I added two new characters. I posted two chapters at once. I hope you enjoy it!
Chapter 1 In Your Debt
Elessar Nénharma was in trouble when the Huntsclan kidnapped her. Her friends called her Elli for short. She was a beautiful elf, a few months over 13. Most elves could use magic by this age, but she hadn’t finished her training, so she only knew basic spells. She had sparkling green eyes and long, curly, bleach blonde hair with red highlights. This was her natural hair color. She was tall for her age, and like other elves, had pointy ears, which she hid under a hat. She was in a dungeon somewhere deep in one of the Huntsclan academies, when a heroic red dragon named Jake Long rescued her from the horrid place. “Thank you, Jake Long,” she said after being returned home safely. “I am in your debt until I pay back your deed.” She bowed her head. “Nah, it’s cool,” he said. “I’m all about helping magical creatures.” “It was still a noble deed, Jake Long, and for that, I owe you,” Elli said, and with that she bowed again and departed.
About two months later, she saw him again, walking and talking with a girl about his age. The girl had blue eyes and long, blonde hair. “Hello again, Jake Long,” Elli said with a bow. She had been talking with her friend, Maria, who was a human/mermaid changeling with long, straight, dark brown hair as a human, but curly as a mermaid. She also had dark brown eyes and was about average height for her age and was a bit plump. She used a neon pink wheelchair because she was disabled as a human. “This is the dragon that I told you about. Jake Long, allow me to introduce you to Maria.” “A pleasure to meet you,” Maria said politely. “Nice to meet you too,” Jake said. “And this is?” Elli asked, gesturing to the girl next to him. “Oh, this is Rose,” Jake said. “Rose, this is Elessar, or Elli.” “Fravar vos ono, Rose,” Elli said, bowing. “That means ‘nice to meet you’ in elvish.” “Well, fravar vos ono to you too, Elli,” Rose said, smiling and inclining her head in return. “I bid you a good day, Jake Long and Rose,” she said. “Unless there is something you need me to do for you?” Elli couldn’t help but think Rose seemed familiar, and Rose felt the same familiarity toward Elli. “No, that’s ok,” Jake said, blushing slightly. “You don’t need to do anything for me. Bye Elli and Maria.” “Good day,” Elli said, bowing again. “See you later,” Maria said. “Bye,” Rose said. Elli and Maria started to walk in the opposite direction of Jake and Rose, when there was a scream and a yell from Jake and Rose. Elli and Maria wheeled around, alarmed, just in time to see a tall, female figure walking away. “Jake, what’s happening?” Rose exclaimed, pressing her hands to the glass jar she was contained in. Both Jake and Rose had been shrunk to about 2 inches tall each and were inside of separate jars in a woman’s hands. “I-I dunno!” Jake said. “Hey, Lady! What’s the deal?!” “Silence!” she said and shook Jake’s jar, making him feel sick. “Maria, I believe you should follow them in the lake because it looks like that is where she is taking them,” Elli said. Maria nodded and transformed into a mermaid before jumping into the lake. “We can meet up later ahead. I must help Jake Long.”
Chapter 2 Some Kind of Game
Jake sat down and talked quietly with Rose while they waited to arrive. "Where do you think she's taking us?" he asked her as quiet as he could so only she could hear. "I don't know. She looks intimidating from this Level," Rose said. "We're two inches tall," Jake said. "Everything looks intimidating from this level." "Why are we 2 inches tall anyway?" Rose asked, not really expecting an answer. "I don't think she'll answer," Jake said, noticing that the lady ignored Rose. "Still feeling sick?" Rose asked. "You mean from being shaken or from being shrunk?" Jake asked, a little impatient at that time. "Being shaken," she said. "No, but from being shrunk and kidnapped, yes," he replied. "What am I going to do with the boy? I just wanted the fair-haired maiden. Maybe I can feed him to the cat," she said, laughing evilly. Jake cringed at the thought.
"I think they went this way!" Elli said, running along the lake after the witch. "What does she want with them?” Maria asked. Elli slowed down a bit so Maria could catch up and thought hard. "This I do not know," she said. "But I believe she is another magic user. Probably a witch, not an elf." "She shrunk them and put them in a jar, like bugs," Maria said as she stuck her head out of the water again. "Maybe...Maybe it's some kind of game to her," Elli said, thinking of possibilities. "We need to catch up. No matter, I know a simple speed-boosting spell that I could use on you. May I?" "Yes. I thought I was a good swimmer till it really mattered," Maria said. "Oh, but you are," Elli said. "Not to be rude or anything, but elves are faster when running then almost any creature, besides our Elvin horses. I will not cast it without your permission though." "Please do. We need to find them!" Maria exclaimed. Elli stopped. "Hold still, else the spell won't work," she explained. She closed her eyes. "Era tari miriel luthien taralom." Maria glowed for a split second, and went back to her normal color. "That should do it. Do not get too close. We want to do this stealthily. When we are close enough, I will use my powers to take the two jars from her and then we will leave." She ran ahead gracefully, quickly, and silently. "Thank you,” Maria said. "You are welcome," Elli said. "Now, try to stay hidden. I will hide behind bushes up ahead and try to lure them in with my magic." "DRAGON UP!” was heard from Jake’s jar. "Jake no!" Rose gasped.
"I sense danger," Elli said to Maria.
“Oh, a dragon,” said the witch. “Maybe I won’t feed you to the cat after all.” Jake was slightly relieved. He hadn’t planned on becoming cat food. Rose, however, was nervous and scared. “Let him go!” she exclaimed. “I’m the one you want, remember?” “Rose, I-” Jake started, but was cut off. “Please, he’s not the one you want,” Rose said eagerly. “No,” said the witch. “He’s a dragon. Dragon’s are very rare.” “Then at least let her go,” Jake said. “If dragons are so rare, then you should have no trouble letting her go.” “No,” she repeated. “My daughter would be more pleased with a dragon and a maiden.” “Daughter?” Jake and Rose said simotaneously.

Thanks for reading! We just finished chapter 3. Here it is. Chapter 4 should be up tomorrow.
Chapter 3 Wiol ono
"Mia, my darling witchling, we're home," the witch said. "Hi, Mommy!" a small girl with long, black hair and violet eyes said. She was much prettier than her hag of a mother. She ran up and gave her mother a hug. "How are you my sweet baby?" she asked. "Bored!" Mia exclaimed. “I have the gift I promised you. That should help," she said. Mia smiled brightly, waiting for her present. "This does not look good," Jake said, worried. “She's a baby," Rose said hopefully. "Yeah, but she seems spoiled," Jake said with a frown. “Here you go, Sweetie,” she said. "Remember the blonde maiden you admired so much?" she asked. "Thank you Mommy!" Mia said, taking one of the jars. She stopped and looked in the other one. "Ooh a red lizard." Jake clenched his fists. "I am not a lizard!" he exclaimed. "Ooh!" she said. "A talking red lizard!" "I’m a dragon! Your mom shrunk me and my girl!" Jake exclaimed. "Ooh, a dragon!" exclaimed the already excited girl. "Please turn us back to our regular size," Jake begged. "But then you'll run away," Mia said sadly. "No, we won't," Rose said. Jake glared at her. "Yes we...I mean no we won't..." he said. "I need to learn to shut up..." "What do you think, Mia?" the witch asked. "I dunno," Mia said with a shrug. "The girl seems nice, but the lizard is kinda mean." "Dragon!" Jake says. "Not lizard!" "Want me to get rid of the lizard, my darling?" she asked. "No, I mean let the girl go and we can keep the lizard," Mia said. "Dragon!!!" Jake exclaimed angrily. "Hey let's see if he can fight the snake!" Mia said excitedly. "S-snake?" Jake asked nervously. "This kid’s sadistic!” Rose whispered. "No!" Jake exclaimed. "Anything but snakes!" "You don't want your dolly?" the witch asked. "No," she said. "Besides, she wants to go and she's nice." Jake looked at Rose with a look that said, "Go, I'll be fine." "I’m not leaving you with a snake, especially at two inches high," Rose said. "Go," Jake said. "I'll be ok." "But Jake--" Rose started. "Go," Jake cut her off. "Please." She nodded sadly and the witch turned her back to her normal size before teleporting her back to where she found them. Then Mia emptied Jake's jar into the snake cage before locking it. "That's a big snake..." He gulped. The snake lifted his head up and flicked his tongue out. Jake gulped again and started to claw at the lid of the cage. Then, Jake heard a voice. It was so quiet that he couldn't make out the words. The voice seemed familiar, but he knew it wasn't Rose's, and with a flash of green light, the snake fell. He was temporarily stunned. He heard a rattling from above and looked up. The lock on the cage was being unbolted. He looked at the witch, who was just as stunned as he was. The cage lid opened and Jake floated out against his will. He flew out the window and landed in Elli's palms. "Elli!" he exclaimed. "What are you doing here?" She smiled. "I came to rescue you, silly dragon." He smiled back. “You seen Rose?” he asked. “I thought she was with you,” Elli said. Jake shook his head. “The witch let her go,” he said. “Why would she do that?” she asked. “Her daughter asked her to,” Jake said. “Why would her daughter…never mind, let us see if we can find her and tell her that you are ok,” Elli explained. “You do know this means that I am no longer in your debt, Jake Long…?” “Yeah, yeah, I saved you, and you saved me,” Jake said, smiling. “But still,” Elli said. “If you ever need my help with anything, I will be glad to help. Now let’s find Rose…Wiol ono.” She smiled. “And I will help you as well,” he offered. “What does wiol ono mean?” “For you.”

Yep, it has, and I've just finished editing chapter 4, so here it is! Oh, and sorry for stealing from Eragon...I thought it might seem more interesting. Good news, this one is long!
Chapter 4 Secrets Uncovered
Elli skipped along the lake that Maria was swimming in back to the part where Jake and Rose were taken. Jake flew next to Elli and Maria followed, along swimming. "Rotwood is going to kill us," Maria said. "Yeah, I know," Jake said. "Do not worry," Elli said. "I always have a plan." "Like turning back time?" he asked. Elli chuckled. "No, we haven't mastered that yet," she explained. "However, I do have a plan. Where did you drop your backpack?" "Follow me,” Jake said. "Ok," Elli said and followed Jake. "Isn't this where you dropped it? I don't see it." "Where is it?" he asked, starting to panic. "I do not know," she said. "I believe someone took it." "My magic schedule was in it!" he exclaimed. "That would be bad if it fell into the wrong hands," Elli said worriedly. "It’d not only expose me, but other magical beings!” he said. "Perhaps it would be best to go down to the school and see if anybody has found it," Elli suggested. "Maybe,” he said. "You may hide in my jacket if you please," she said. "Thanks,” he said. “How am I going to get back to my original Mack Daddy size? Where is my schedule? If I don’t find it, the magic community could be in major trouble!" "Calm down. I know some more experienced Elves that would most likely help you," Elli said. "But you must never tell anyone where it is. It is more important that we first find the schedule. Shall we look at the school?" "I had it when I was shrunk,” he said. "But you dropped your backpack over there before you were shrunk," Elli said. "It was not shrunken along with you." "Why would it be at the school?" he asked "Well, there's a possibility that someone found it and picked it up," Elli said. "If nobody has it, we can check somewhere else, but for now, that's the only place we know of." "I hope Rotten Wood doesn't have it!" Maria laughs, climbing back into her chair. "Who is that?" Elli asked. She didn’t know anything about New York. "Our Mythology teacher. His real name is Rotwood. He actually Believes in magical beings but knows very little about them,” Maria explained. "Mm, like most mortals," Elli commented. "He'd do just about anything to get his hands on one," she added. "Do you think he'd dissect us like a 7th grade bio frog?" Jake asked nervously. "I do not know," Elli said. "But maybe he doesn't have it." "I sure hope not," he said. "But we need to go look," Elli said. "You cannot be seen as two inches tall, dragon or human. Do you want to hide in my jacket while we are looking?" "Yeah, but how am I going to get back to my full, pretty size?" Jake asked. "Those Elves I know," Elli said slowly. "They have many more years of experience than I do. Perhaps they will help you. There is a small island just off the coast. When the time comes, I will take you there, but you must swear on your life never to reveal its location to anyone." "Hey, I keep secrets all the time…I'm a dragon, remember?" he said. "You must swear in the ancient language," Elli said. "That is the way it is done. The ancient language will bind you to your promise, that way if someone tortures you, you will never tell." "It keeps me from telling?" he asked. "You cannot lie in the ancient language," Elli said. "So if you promise in the ancient language, you are bound to it." “Ok, but don't you trust me?" he asked. "I do," Elli said. "But Elves are forbidden to take outsiders to our land without first making them swear not to reveal its location in the ancient language." "My G swears in Chinese all the time!" he laughed. Elli forced a chuckle. "I will teach you the words. If you do not say them correctly, you may make a grave mistake, so make sure to pronounce them correctly," she explained. Then, she said the words in the ancient language slowly so he could follow. "Yes Ma'am!" he said She repeated the words again so Jake could hear. "Are you ready?" she asked after saying them several times. "Yes,” he replied. "Ok, repeat the words," Elli said and repeated them one last time to be sure he said them right. He said them correctly. "I’ve studied Elvish with G," he said. "Ah, that's good," Elli said. "Then you must know some of the language?" "Yeah, I know some Gnome and ancient Fairy," he said. "No, I am talking about the ancient Elvin language," she said. "I know some of that too,” he said. "I doubt you know very much," Elli said. "There are not many Elvin books on our language that are not on our islands. We should start looking, though. Come, you may hide in one of my jacket pockets if you please." "It dusty?" he asked. Elli chuckled. "Do you think that Elves would let their jackets get dusty?" she asked. "No, I just had it cleaned." She winked. "Sorry I got allergies," he said, blushing. "You smell sweet," he added from her pocket. "Thank you," she said, blushing slightly. "Elves try to smell nice. That is one of the reasons humans find us so...irresistible." "By the way, do you like Rose?" he asked. "Mm, for the time being, yes," she replied. "But it will probably take two moons until I trust her." "Why can't you trust her?" Jake asked. "Elves are trained not to trust anyone completely until they know a bit about them," she explained. "I could effortlessly check her mind for anything not to trust, but that's an invasion of privacy, and elves don't do that unless it's absolutely necessary." "Good policy," Jake said. "Mm," Elli said. “I mean not using it and invading privacy,” Jake said. “G says, ‘don't trust anyone’." "Some you can trust with your life," Elli said. "But others, you can't trust with a pebble." "I trust Rose, Spud, and Trixie,” he said. "That is good that you have somebody to trust," Elli said. "I trust you and Maria with my life." "I do too," he said. "You trust Maria?" Elli asked. “You barely know her.” "Yes, I trust most mermaids," he said. "Speaking of the subject," Elli said. "Maria, could you lead us to the school? I do not know where it is." "Of course," she said. Elli talked as she followed Maria to the school. "Have you ever been...tortured?" she asked Jake. "Do you count Algebra?" he asked. Elli gave him a serious look. “Skull Face once did it when Huntsgirl ran off," he said. "But I mean like tortured, for information or anything else that someone wanted," she said. "Yes, The Hunts Freak," he replied. She looked alarmed. "What did he do?" she asked. "Made me listen to him sing with his socks off," he joked. "Do not do that!" Elli exclaimed. "You had me in shock for a moment!" "Actually being serious, he did shock me with his stick thing, trying to find out where Huntsgirl went,” Jake said. “He thought she was the one I was in love with she's not my type," he said. "Huntsgirl...Now where have I heard that name before?" she asked herself. "Oh yes!” She paused. "One of the Huntsclan girls that helped to capture me." "This one has dark brown hair. I like blondes,” he said. "No," Elli said. "I could have sworn I saw a blonde braid." "No, not her. The one I was talking about had brown eyes. Her code name was Thundercloud,” he said. "Oh," Elli said. "I thought you were talking about Huntsgirl. I swear on the life of Haldamir that I will get revenge on her someday." "I think she's on her way out,” he said. "Out of where?" she asked. "The Huntsclan, or the city. Last time we fought, she said, ‘win or lose, this is the last time you'll see me, Dragon’," he said, trying to sound like Huntsgirl. "Then I will track her down, and once my training is complete, she will be in trouble," Elli said. "What'd she do?" he asked. "Have you not been listening?" Elli asked. "She helped to capture me, and while I was there, I was tortured because I would not tell them where Nargothrond is. That is our island." "Did she torture you?" he asked. "No, but she is partly responsible for me being tortured," Elli said. "For helping to capture me." "Ouch,” Jake said. "Yes," Elli said. "As soon as my training is completed, which will be soon, I will be stronger than her and will be able to take her on effortlessly." "Do you think people can change?" he asked. "With time, yes," Elli said. "But if you are talking about Huntsgirl, then I do not believe she would have changed within the past 3 months." "I’ve heard horrible things that are done to the kids in the Huntsclan," he said, trying to cover for Rose. "Mm, maybe so," Elli said. "But that only makes it worse." She paused. "You do not believe this girl to be good, do you?" "I think she’s just misunderstood," he said, then changed the subject. “Let’s find my backpack.” "The school's right over here," Maria said, pointing. "Mm, ok," she said. She walked up to the entrance and pushed the double doors open, holding them for Maria. “Thanks,” Maria said. "Speaking of finding things," Elli added. "Where do you think Rose would be?" "What time is it?" Jake asked. "It's about noon," Elli said, looking up at the sky. "Probably English,” he said. “She has 2nd lunch at 12:20." "Mm," said Elli. "Do your other two friends have first lunch?" "Yes," he said. “I usually do too.” "Ok, perhaps we should ask them first," she said. "But first, I will tell your teachers where you 'are' right now." "In your pocket, dying for even a corner of a cracker?" he asked. "That's not what I meant," she said. "But I'll find you something to eat as soon as I tell them. Patience, Dragon." Jake blushed, thinking about the other person who called him that. Elli told his teachers that he was off doing some errands and that he should be back in the morning. "Ok, now it's lunch time." "Trix, I just can't understand where Jake could be," Spud said. "Ok, which ones are your friends?" Elli asked Jake. "Those two,” he said, pointing at Trixie and Spud. She walked up to them. "Hi," she said, trying to cover up a giggle that was forcing its way out. She just thought it was funny that they didn’t even know her and she just waltzed right up to them and started talking. "Who are you?" Trixie asked. "I'm Elli," she said. "Your friend helped me out of something and I know where he is." She pulled Jake out of her pocket and couldn't hold it any longer and started giggling. "JAAAKE!" Spud yelled. "Shh!" Elli said. "Yo, Jakey, and you thought you were short before!" Trixie exclaimed. "Gee, thanks,” he said, shaking his tiny fist. Meanwhile, Elli was still trying to calm down her fit of giggles. She set Jake on the table. "Fresh threads!" Trixie said. "Tha-hanks," Elli said, still laughing at a now angry Jake. "I'll just-I'll just go get you something to eat." She walked over to the line, still giggling. "Ask if they've seen my backpack," Jake said. "OH!" Spud exclaimed. "I saw it! I saw it!" “Where is it?" Jake asked. "Yeah, Rottenwood has it," Spud said. "I tried to hold it for you, but he took it away." "He has it?! Magic time organizer and all!" he exclaimed angrily, jumping up and down on the table. "I'm guessing that's bad, right?" Spud asked stupidly. "YES! Why not just give it to the Huntsfreak?!" he asked. "Hey it wasn't my fault," Spud said, picking up Jake with curiosity. "I’m sorry Man, be careful,” Jake said. "Look how tiny you are," Spud said. "You wouldn't even need to eat very much." "I was tellin’ her I could probably eat a corner of a cracker and be full," he said. “Where’s Rose?” "She's in Home Ec.," Spud said. "I bet you could fit anywhere. You're like some kinda mutant rodent dragon kid!" “Cute, and she’s in Home Ec. for 7th period,” Jake said. "Oh yeah," Spud said. Elli walked back to them with a bowl of fruits. "Elves have to eat too," she said with a shrug. "Wonder how much my stomach can hold," Jake said with wonder. "What kind do you want?" she asked. "A grape would probably be easiest to eat." "Yeah, I hope I don’t look pregnant after I eat,” he said. Elli giggled again. "Spudinski! Put Jakey down so he can eat!" Trixie exclaimed. "Aw but he's so small!" Spud said. "I miss Rose already,” Jake said. "You must really like her," Elli said. Spud still hadn't put Jake down. "Put him down, Potato Boy!” Trixie said. "But...!" Spud said. "But what?” Trixie asked. "He's so cool when he's small!" Spud said. "Portable Jake!" "Please! Portable Jake’s HUNGRY!” Jake exclaimed. "Fine," Spud said and set him down. Elli picked out a small grape for him and handed it to him. “That looks watermelon sized to me,” Jake said. That made Elli giggle again. "You know, since I've been here, I've been in my best mood," she said. He tries sticking the whole thing in his mouth, causing Elli to fall backwards out of her seat laughing. Just then, Rose walked up to them, English book in hand. Elli rolled around on the ground, still laughing. "Oh! H-Hi Ro-hose!" she said as she laughed. “What’s so funny?” Rose asked. Elli pointed to Jake, who was still trying to fit the grape whole in his mouth. “He’s still two inches tall?” "Claw-haws Jake!" she exclaimed, still laughing. Elli finally stopped laughing after a minute or so and stood up. “My poor Jake,” Rose said. "I am going to take him back to my island and--" She paused, staring at Rose. "Your eyes...They're familiar." “From where?” Rose asked suspiciously. "I don't know," Elli said, feeling like she had live worms in her stomach. "But it feels like...Like I've met you before." She thought for a moment. "No...No, it can't be...Jake!" She picked him up and shook him like a carton of milk. "That's...That’s...That's Huntsgirl!" “Nah, that’s my girl, Rose,” Jake said. Elli stared at him with a look of pure horror. "You knew!" she exclaimed. "You knew it was her all along, didn't you?!" “Yes,” he said. "And you!" Elli said, wheeling around and pointing at Rose. “But she’s on our side now!” he exclaimed. "HOW?!" Elli yelled, dropping Jake a little too on the table. Spud and Trixie stared, "Yeah, we gotta go," Trixie said, dragging Spud away. "I told her I was a dragon, and she let me go,” he said. "But she helped them! She helped them catch me so they could...So they could torture me!" Elli exclaimed, a tear running down her cheek. "I had no idea what he had planned! I know it's no excuse, but I didn't," Rose said. "I want out, but what can I do? I'm only 13," she said, crying. The cafeteria had cleared out except for the three of them. Then Elli thought of something worse. "I-I swore on my king's life that I'd get revenge! We can't break promises...Especially ones that powerful!" she exclaimed. "What am I supposed to do now without harming you?" She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. “You can beat me up,” Rose said. “I deserve it for what I did in my past.” "No," Elli said. "There has to be another way." “I hate what I was before I knew that Jake was the American dragon,” Rose said. Elli thought for a moment. The only solution was simple but would have a large effect. "You and Jake are together, right?" she asked, feeling stupid. “Yes,” Rose replied. "What if...What if I kissed Jake?" she asked. "It'd still be revenge, but without hurting anyone…physically anyway." “Yes, you can make a lingering one,” Rose said. "I'd ask Jake first, but he's two inches tall," Elli said. "What's he gonna do if he doesn't agree?" "I want to make it up to you and everyone I hurt," Rose said. "Um, hello?" Jake said. "Don't I get a say in this?" "No, not really," Elli said. “It’s either that, or she tortures me,” Rose said. "Fine, I'll let her," Jake said. "But only for a second!!" “I’ve never killed anyone,” Rose said. “But I’ve still hurt people. "Mm," Elli said. "Perhaps I should find a spell to make him his normal size before I...You know." She couldn't help but chuckle.

I've just finished editing chapter 5. It's very long. Please, no negative critisizm unless you have a reason for doing so. Well, here it is!
Chapter 5 Too Furry
"So if elves are so fast," Jake said from Rose's shoulder. "How did you get captured by the Huntsclan?" Elli smiled. "Well," she said. "They had caught me off guard, which is the reason I never let my guard down now." "All the Elves that I know that have been caught were young," Rose said sadly. "Yes," Elli said. "That is because the older elves are more experienced and a lot harder to catch." "If he has a book, how do we get it?” Maria asked. "Either you or Rose could ask him if you could borrow it because you are so fascinated in the subject," Elli said with a smile. “Or even me,” Maria said. “He asked me to help him research…Get this! Changelings and mermaids!” "Coincidence?" Elli asked. "I think not!" “Do you think he knows?” she asked. "I think he is suspicious, but I do not know if he knows for sure," Elli said. "Even the council thought Changelings had died out until my time!” Maria added with wonder. "That's strange..." Elli said. "You might want to be extra careful around him." "They thought it was a combination of the Huntsclan and a virus,” Maria said, distracted by the subject. "Probably more of the Huntsclan,” Jake commented. “I think they did biological warfare experiments,” Rose said. “They dropped them when it only wiped out one cursed species, the Huntsclan told me.” "Bio-what now?" Jake asked. "Warfare. Using a bacteria or virus against an enemy,” she said. "That sounds really gross," Jake said. "Especially for my size." He grinned. “I burned their notes, so they can’t perfect it…not for a while anyway,” she said. "Good thinking!" Elli said. “Hopefully he’ll continue to buy that the building got struck by lightning,” Rose said. Jake chuckled. "That's something I would do," he said with a grin. “What can I say?” Rose asked. “You’re a bad influence.” She laughed. "Hey!" he exclaimed. "I'm not that bad, am I?" “The building was his old office,” she said. “No Sweetie, I just had a bad thought though. What if I had burned the only records of who my real parents are?” Jake glared. "That...Would be bad," he said. "He has to know he kidnapped me,” she said. "He...kidnapped you?” Jake asked, wide-eyed. "Yes…I found out during our little trip to the dream realm,” she explained. "And...You didn't tell me?" he asked, sad that she hadn't been honest with him to begin with. "I wanted to wait till I could find a time when we weren’t being watched,” she said. "Now is an excellent time," Jake said, a little note of sarcasm in his voice. “There’s a lot going on right now, so we might as well get everything out." He paused. "That reminds me! Rotwood still has my backpack! We have to get it back!" “He lied,” Rose said. “He didn’t get custody of me when I was three months old. He kidnapped me.” "That is about the most messed up thing I have ever heard!" Jake exclaimed. "Are they still alive?" "I don't know, but it gets more messed up. I have a twin sister,” Rose said. Jake stared and his jaw actually dropped open. "Guys," Elli said. "We must speak of this later. Right now, we'd better get going. Where is Rotwood's class?" “Identical, I think,” Rose added. "Are you serious?!" Jake exclaimed. "I'll help you find them." Elli sighed. "Maria," she said. "Please show me where his class is? The love birds can stay here and chat if they please, but I'm not going to stand here and waste precious time!" Elli was the least bit worried about Rose at the moment, and had not completely gotten over the fact that she had helped the Huntsclan capture her. "We’ll talk about this later, when you’re tall again,” Rose said. “Taller, anyway.” "Fine," Jake said. "Let's get going then." Elli nodded and followed Maria down the hall. "I know there’s nothing I can do to make you not hate me, Elli,” Rose said. “But I’ve changed.” "I don't hate you," Elli said. "I just...I just cannot get over what has occurred between the three of us." "I still can’t believe Jake forgave me,” Rose said. "Forgave you?" Jake asked with a raised eyebrow. “You haven’t?” she asked, shocked. "That's not what I meant," Jake said quickly. “I mean…Forgave you for what?” “The bad things I did to you,” she said. "Like what?" Jake asked. "Being Hunts--" Elli grabbed him and closed him in her hands just as Rotwood walked out. “You know, hunting you,” she said. Elli sighed. "What are you doing out here?" Rotwood asked suspiciously. "And what's all this about hunting? Come in, come in." "Oh, did she say hunting?" Elli asked nervously. "She meant haunting. Yeah, we're trying to pull a trick on an old friend. Right Rose?" She nudged Rose with her elbow. “Yes,” Rose said. “I love to play pranks.” "You?" Rotwood asked. "Anyway, what is it that you want? I am very busy." “I need to borrow a book about Elvin culture,” she said. "What for?" he asked. “I want to do an extra credit paper,” Rose said. “My uncle’s not very happy with my grades.” "I'll see if I can find it," Rotwood said, going inside. Elli shrugged and followed him. "Oh yeah, I remember him. Maria introduced us a while ago," Elli whispered. "When I came for a visit a little while ago." “Nice to see you again,” he said. "Nice to see you again too," Elli lied. Rotwood turned back around and shuffled through several books. "Here it is," he said. "Be sure you have it back soon." “I will,” Rose said. "Be sure that you do," Rotwood said sternly. Rose made a note to actually write the paper. "Thank you," Elli said, backing out and shutting the door behind them. Once out, she opened her hands, revealing Jake, who inhaled deeply. “You know there’s no oxygen in your hands!” he cried. “And they’re so sweaty!” "I'm sorry, Jake!" Elli said sincerely. “Don’t sweat it,” he said. "We got the book!” Rose said, smiling. "Ok, where should we go?" Elli asked. ”Anywhere away from people,” Maria said. "Just not in the school," Jake said. "Last time we got in trouble." “Where should we go then?” Elli asked. "How about the shop?" Jake suggested. “Yes, very little activity there,” Rose said. “By the way, does Fu chase mice?” Jake glared for a minute. "No..." he said. "Well there was that one time..." *Flashback!* "I am not letting that mouse live with us!” Fu said. *One hour later* “GET BACK HERE YOU STUPID MOUSE!” *End Flashback!* “We have to let him know you’re not a rodent,” Rose laughed. Jake burst out laughing. "I'm sure--I'm sure he'll know," he said. “I hope so, cuz I’m not accustomed to canine hemlock maneuvers!” she exclaimed. Both Elli and Jake burst out laughing. "How else can I get him to release my dragon boy?” she laughed. "He only did it once," Jake said. "And boy, he hated that mouse." “Good,” she said. "Good that he hated the mouse or good that he only did it once?” Jake asked, grinning “That she hated it,” she replied. "Fu isn't a girl," Jake said. "But I can see you're thinking..." He grinned even wider. “Oh, but he looked like one in Miss Magical World,” she said. "You saw that?!" Jake exclaimed. "Twice! Once when the Huntsman tapped into the magic TV station, and once when I went through Fu’s dream door accidentally instead of yours,” she said. Jake fell over in Elli's hand, laughing so hard. "But he did win," he said. "Let's go now.... Since I'm too small, Rose, lead the way to the shop!" ”Why didn’t you do it?” Rose asked. "I'm so small," Jake said. "I'd be too slow..." “I mean play Miss Magical World,” she said. "Do I look like a girl to you?!" Jake exclaimed, offended. "No, but Fu doesn’t either,” Rose said. "He looks more like a girl than me!” he said, still offended. “I love you,” she said, kissing him. "Like that's gonna make it better," he said in a bitter tone, but still grinned. "Here we are,” Rose said. “1008 Cannel Street.” "Ok," Jake said. "Let's go in then...Uh, someone get the door?" “I’ll open the door,” Maria said, opening it. "Thanks, I'm too tiny," Jake said. “Should I stay outside?” Rose asked. "No," Elli said. "Why would you?" "Does your grandpa trust me?” Rose asked, directing the question at Jake. "I think so," he said. "Ok, but just in case, I got a chicken bone for Fu,” she laughed. Jake rolled his eyes and Elli walked inside, Jake on her shoulder. "Yo Fu, G, I'm back...Well, most of me," he said, looking down at himself. "What happened to you, Kid?” Fu asked, confused. "Uh, some witch kinda...shrunk me," he said, shrugging. "But luckily, Elli was there!" he added. “What did you do to her?” Fu asked. "I didn’t do anything to the witch," Elli said. "But I did save Jake from this snake that was possibly about to eat him...And we all know his fear of snakes." Jake flushed. “I mean, what did Jake do to the witch?” he asked. "Nothing!" Jake said. "She just came up and like shrunk me and Rose and put us in jars…It was weird!”
Marcie Gore: "How’d Blondie get back to normal?” he asked. "BLONDIE?!" Rose exclaimed. "Ooh, now you've done it!" Jake said. "Did you just call me BLONDIE?!" Rose exclaimed, her face now pink. "Hey, you are blonde,” Fu said. Rose glared. "I despise you," she said in a dark voice. “I’m sorry, oh mighty huntress,” he said, cozying up to her leg. Rose couldn't help but laugh. "Jake, your dog is sooo weird," she said. "Part of his charm,” Jake laughed. “FYI, she hates being called Blondie.” "Him?" Rose asked. "I thought Fu was a she!" She burst out laughing. "I’m all male, sister,” Fu said. "That's not what it looked like on Miss Magical World,” she said. “Sister!” “You saw it?” he asked, blushing. "Yeah," Elli said. "Everyone seems to have seen it but me...and I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing..." "I have the DVD,” Gramps said. Jake toppled over laughing. "WHY...WHY in the WORLD would you want that?” he asked. "Blackmail?” he said. "Nice!" Jake exclaimed. "Can we get back to the spell though? I wanna be my normal, pretty size again." “I want a copy!” Maria said. Elli snorted at Maria's comment. "Sure, we can get back to the spell...If I can find it," she said. "IF?" Jake asked. "What do you mean by that?!" “It’s a thick book,” Maria said. "But," Elli added. "We might not find it." “You mean I have to stay two inches tall?” Jake whined. "No," Elli said. "There are those elves, but I don't think I want to go back just yet." She smiled. She started looking through the book. "This could take a while.” “I think I got a potion,” Fu said. "You do?" Jake asked excitedly. "Yes, but let me make sures I have the ingredients,” he said. "Oh yeah, did I forget to mention, Elli and Rose had a fight?" Jake asked. "Wool of the Magic Golden Sheep of Greece, check,” he said. se: "Dragon, you know it would do you good to keep that mouth of yours shut," Elli said in a threatening tone. “Toad spit, unicorn hoof nail, bark from that tree with golden apples, and hair of the witch who cast the spell,” Fu said. "Why?” Jake asked. "Because, you talk too much," Elli said. "I said, hair of the witch,” Fu said. They all glared at Fu. "I'm not going back!" Jake exclaimed. "Just joking, Kid,” he said. Jake let out a sigh of relief. "I'm tellin' ya," he said. "She's evil! EVIL!" “She liked me,” Rose laughed. “No,” Jake said. “The GIRL liked you!” “She was sweet,” Rose said. Jake coughed and it sounded very much like "evil!" “She was cute!” she said. He repeated his "evil" cough. "Until she thought it'd be fun to see you fight a snake,” Rose said. "It was a garden snake, but at your height, it may as well have been a giant cobra!” Jake muttered something that only he could hear. "Are you done with that potion yet, Fu?" he asked. "Just a little more unicorn toe nail and it’s done,” he said. "Cool," Jake said. "By the way, your ingredients sound really gross and hard to get..." “You can either drink it or pour it on you,” Fu said. "Pour it," Jake said. "That stuff sounds nasty!!! I ain’t drinkin it!” “The best potion ingredients are gross,” he said. "Then I can imagine what troll snot would do,” he said. "Remember the shape shifting potion?” he asked. “Yes,” Jake said. “Just pour it, k?” “It has to be poured by a loved one,” he said. Jake automatically turned to Rose. “Want your favorite dog, or Gramps, or your sweetheart to do it?” "What favorite dog...Oh...OH!!" Jake exclaimed. "Er...I'm sorry...?" "Me, remember Princess ran away when you were nine?” Fu asked. “I miss the girl too…She was…um…sweet.” Jake couldn't help but laugh. "I said I was sorry!" he said. "Just give me the potion," Rose said, taking it and pouring it on Jake. Nothing happened. "Uh oh," Elli said, looking at a page. “What uh oh?” Jake asked. "Well...I have good news, bad news…and more bad news,” she said. “The bad news is the ingredients were wrong and Jake is going to turn into a mouse in about 10 seconds and the good news is I found the spell to unshrink him…” Just then Jake turned into a mouse. "What's the other bad news?!" Jake yelled in a squeaky voice. "It's an unshrink spell, not a turn-Jake-from-mouse-to-human-spell," she said. “So I’m the American giant mouse now?” he asked. Rose picked him up by the tail. "Not actually giant," she said, giggling. "Shouldn't you be mad at Fu? He got the ingredients wrong!" Rose said. “I put too much unicorn mane. It should have more hoof nail,” Fu said. Elli chortled. "No, not necessarily, she said. "You got the types of ingredients wrong, not the amount." "What are they then, Miss Know-it-all?” Fu asked. "Troll snot--" she started. "Ha!" Jake squeaked. "I told ya!" “And?” he asked, taking out a new beaker. "Wait," Elli said. "Let me see if I can find a spell first...Just to be safe." She folded the corner of the page and went on. It wasn't even halfway through the book. "Have a spell to make the Huntsman disappear?” Rose asked. "Sorry," Elli said. "I got one right here!" Jake said, holding up his tiny pink fingers and balling them into a fist. "He wants me to find a skull, or something else that’s equally sickening,” she explained. "What should I do?" Jake asked. "What can you do? You're just a puny little rodent," Elli said. "Come and say that to my face!" Jake said. She walked over to him. "Puny," she said. He made a sort of growling noise, which made her laugh. “You’re still a mighty dragon to me,” Rose said. "Really? Because from this view you look more like the dragon," he said. "Er...Not that that’s a bad thing,” he added quickly. "I wish I was,” Rose said. "I wonder if I can still fly," Jake said. "Let's find out," Elli said, picking him up by his tail. "Nooooooo!" he squeaked. "I'm just joking," she added, setting him down, his eyes wide.

Ok, in this next chapter, Jake won't be "Two Short" anymore, so please disregard the name for now. This is my favorite chapter so far, so I think you'll like it! Oh yeah, and it's really random...don't ask.
Chapter 6 Reform of 88 and 89
"I will keep looking for the spell," Elli said, walking over to the book. "Keep busy while I'm looking." "Dragon UP!" Jake tried. "It's not going to work," Elli said in a sing-song voice. "Darn!" Jake said, stomping his tiny mouse feet. Elli rolled her eyes, then shot out of her seat. "I found it!" she exclaimed, pointing to the book. "Make sure that’s it," Jake said. "Yes, this is it,” Elli said. "Look here." She pointed to a paragraph, which she read aloud. "Any creature that has been transformed into another creature shall be transformed back into its original form once this spell is used." “Good,” Jake said. “Will I lose my powers?” Elli chuckled. "No, it means that you will be transformed back to what you were before you were turned into a mouse," she said. "Which means you'll still be short. Don't worry. I'll use the unshrinking spell. I folded the corner." “I’m short even for normal size,” Jake said. "You know what I mean," she said. “Can you make me tall?” he asked. "Taller than your usual size?" Elli asked. “Yeah, say 6 feet,” Jake laughed. Elli shot him a look of astonishment. "I can," she said. "But...I think that you are fine just the way you are." She smiled. “Me too,” Rose said. Elli picked up Jake and brought her over to the table where she had the book open. “This might tingle,” she said. She placed a hand over him and said the spell. He slowly transformed back into his normal self, but he was still only two inches tall. “Now for the other spell.” She said that one and he grew back to his normal size. The table was too small, and he fell off. Elli helped him up. “Are you ok?” “Yeah, a small price to be my normal size again,” he said. “And the next one is bigger,” Elli muttered to herself. “What do you mean?” Jake asked. "You heard me?" Elli said. "I have to stop thinking out loud..." “I have ear of the dragon even when I’m lizard-sized,” he said. "But you're not lizard-sized anymore," Elli pointed out. “So my hearing’s even better,” he said. Elli sighed. "Alright, you need to know?" she asked. “Yes, I need to know,” Jake said. "Remember my 'revenge plot'?" she asked. "That's what I was thinking about when I said that. Remember what I said I would do instead of hurting her?" “Yeah, let’s get that over with,” Jake said. Elli swallowed. "I cannot," she said. “What?” he asked. Elli sighed. "It was a stupid idea," she said. “Why?” Jake asked. Elli sighed again. "A kiss is a sign of love," she said. "I'm sure you don't love me..." “Beat me up then,” Jake said. “Just don’t hurt Rose. Elli looked down. "No." “You can kill me,” Rose said, thinking the Huntsman was about ready to anyway. Elli looked Rose in the eyes. "Nothing would make me kill any of the people in this room right now," she said. “You can turn me over to the Huntscreep,” Jake said. "I said I would get revenge on Huntsgirl," Elli said. "Not Rose. Not Jake. Huntsgirl. And that I will...Somehow." “I’ll change into uniform,” Rose said. "No!" Elli exclaimed. "Don’t you get it? I said I would get revenge. I never said when. I could wait as long as I want." She turned to Jake. "I know the other way seems easier, but it has a bigger affect than you can imagine." She sighed. "Like I said before...you don't love me." She looked at the ground. Does she love him? Rose wondered. "Well," she said softly. "I guess since Jake's back to normal I should go." “Want us to accompany you?” Jake asked. Elli swallowed again. "No," she said, trying to keep her voice smooth. "I'll be fine." Somehow, she actually had feelings for Jake, but knew he was too clueless to realize it. Just then, Rose’s pager went off. “Stupid pager,” she said. Elli left. “I think I’ll pretend I lost it or pretend the American dragon ate it.” "Yuck, I wouldn't eat that," Jake said, grinning. “Maybe just go with it was lost,” Rose said. "I was just kidding. I'll eat it," Jake said. "I never did get to eat lunch." “He wants another skull!” Rose exclaimed, reading the message. Jake rolled his eyes. "What is with him and his obsession with wanting to get rid of us?" he asked. “I don’t know,” Rose said. “I think he’d be bored if he did though.” “Probably,” Jake said. “He says to meet 88 and 89 by the lake near central park,” Rose said, walking outside. "I'm coming with," Jake said, following her. Meanwhile, Elli was sitting under a shady oak tree near that lake. She frowned. He'll never feel the same way, she thought. Jake followed Rose to a bridge on the lake. “Oops,” Rose said, as her pager “slipped” from her hands into the lake. Elli squinted at the two by the lake. She sighed, shaking her head. “Think he’d buy that I lost it in a fight?” "Maybe," Jake said. "Maybe not. I don't know what he'll think!" “Maybe I should jump in the lake,” Rose suggested. "To get it?" Jake asked. "Or to get wet so he thinks it fell out of your pocket when you fell in?" “The second one,” she said. "Here," Jake said. "I'll help you." He pushed her in, laughing and grinning. Elli saw her fall in and almost had the urge to help her out, but decided not to. Rose gave Jake a "very funny" look. “Any loose scales so I can prove that I fought you?” she asked. "Hey is that Elli?" Jake asked, pointing at the oak tree. “Yes, hi Elli!” Rose shouted. Elli rolled her eyes and pretended she didn't notice. "She probably didn't see you," Jake said. He waved. She ignored him. "Um...She probably didn't see me either...?" Maria’s head popped out of the lake, causing Jake to jump. “Maria! Don’t do that!” Jake exclaimed. “Why not?” she asked. "Um..." he said. "Never mind. I wasn't scared if that's what you think!" “Need me to get your pager back?” Maria asked. "She dropped it in on purpose," Jake said, winking. “What do I do now?” Rose asked. "Here," Jake said, plucking off a scale. "Ow!" He handed it to her. “Thank you,” Rose said, kissing him. "Anytime," Jake said, smiling. Elli saw her kiss Jake and felt extremely jealous. Why didn't I just do that when I had the chance? she thought. Stop it, Elli! He likes Rose! She frowned. “What do I do when he sends me to get that stupid skull?” Rose asked. "I'll come with you, but stay hidden," he said. "Then I'll come out when you get the skull and steal it. You can act all surprised and mad." “I wish I could just say ‘I quit’,” she said. "What happens if you say that?" Jake asked. “At least, I’ll be sent back to the academy. At most, I’ll be sentenced to death for treason,” she said. He flinched. "No, that wouldn't be good," he said. "One day I'll get you out...or I'll try, but if it doesn't work then I'll do something." “How can you?” she asked. "I'll think of something," he said. “If I don’t hurry, he’ll probably send the twerps,” Rose said. "88, check it out!" 89 said from a distance. "It looks like Huntsgirl and her BFF forever!" Elli saw the two of them with her clear vision. She shot up to warn Jake and Rose. "Jake!" she yelled, running towards them. "Rose!" “Yes?” Rose asked. "Huntsclan!" she exclaimed, pointing at where 88 and 89 were. They saw her and ducked behind a bush. “I knew it!” Rose said. "I have a plan," Elli said. She pushed Jake into the lake. “Hey!” he exclaimed. "Hey what?" Elli asked. "And in case you're wondering, this isn't part of the plan. That's for being an idiot." "That girl just pushed Rose’s BFF forever in the lake,” 89 said. "DUDE!" 88 said. "How many times do I gotta tell you? It's just BFF!" “But why did she do that?” 89 asked. "I dunno," 88 said. "She just ran over there and pushed him." He laughed. They walked over to Rose. “You got an appointment,” 89 said. “And you’re late.” "I'm sorry," Rose said. "I dropped my pager in the lake when I was fighting a dragon." “I’ve heard that before,” 88 said. “I think the Huntsdude’s gonna want proof.” "I got one of his scales when we were fighting," Rose said, holding it out. “Neat!” 89 said. “Who are those weird kids?” Jake asked, trying to sound clueless. "Forget it," 88 said. "We know you're a dragon." "Dragons are fairytales,” he said, making the crazy sign. "We already know about you!" 88 exclaimed. "Jake I think they know," Rose whispered. He laid a big kiss on her. "What are you doing?!" Rose exclaimed, pushing Jake off. “I love you Baby,” he said. Rose looked at him as if he was crazy. "We won't tell the Huntsman," 88 said. Rose looked at them, shocked. “You won’t?” she asked. "I know how much you like this kid," 88 said. "I thought it would be fun to fight dragons and other fairytales, like a video game. Eh, it was kinda stupid." “You want to quit?” she asked. "Yes," 88 said. "I don't know about 89 here," he pointed to 89. "but I do." “What changed your mind?” Rose asked. "Well," 88 said. "I hurt this little dragon.... and I guess I felt guilty." “A little dragon?” she asked, gulping. "Yeah, she was pink," 88 said. “Is she going to be ok?” Rose asked. "I hope so," 88 said. "It only happened a little while ago." “Haley!” Jake exclaimed. "You know her?" 88 asked. “Yes!” he said. "How?" 89 asked. “She’s related to me!” he said, worried. "Really?" 88 asked. "We’re sorry! The Huntsman...he saw her and..." “You speared my baby sister?!” Jake yelled, angrily. "Yes," 88 said, frightened. “Where’d you leave her?!” he demanded. "She's ok!" 89 said. "She's over South of here by Central Park." “She used cute on you…” Jake said. 89 nodded, frowning. "We're sorry, really," he said. “What did you do to her?” he asked as they ran to the spot. "I hit her wing with an arrow," 88 said. “Did Skull Face see you?” Jake asked. "He saw her yesterday and told us to find her," 89 said. "But she's ok." “What does he want with such a tiny dragon?” Rose asked. "She's a dragon," Jake said. There was a beeping sound as 89 received a page: Do you have the pelt of the pink dragon? Jake took the pager from 89 and threw it into the lake. “I can’t believe he saw Haley’s dragon form,” Rose said. "I know," Jake said. "I hope nothing happens to her." “I think he wants a pink purse for number 101,” 89 said. “She just finished training.” "Maybe he wants it for himself," Jake said bitterly. “I never realized that dragons were kids too,” 88 said. “Until I saw her cute little pig-tails.” "Believe it," Jake said. "Where's Haley? You said she'd be near here." "I see her under a pile of leaves,” Rose said, pointing. Jake ran over to her. "Haley, can you hear me?" he asked, digging her out. "Jake,” she said weakly. "Haley, are you ok?" Jake said, picking her up. “Stay away from me!” she screamed, pointing at 88 and 89. "It's ok, Haley," he said. "I won't let them hurt you anymore." He turned to them. "Wait here! If I find out you follow us..." “Sorry, we wanted to see if she was ok,” 88 shrugged. "You did this!" Haley exclaimed. “I know, and I’m sorry,” 88 said. "Go away!" Haley cried, hugging Jake. “We need to get you to Gramps,” Jake said. "Hurry, Jake," Haley sobbed. “Dragon UP,” he said. "You three go," Elli says, pointing to Rose, Jake, and Haley. "I'll make sure these two stay here." “You can trust us,” 88 said. "I'm not too sure," Jake said. "Just stay here." He flew off, Haley in his arms, and Rose following. Elli sighed, staring after them. 88 received a message this time: I want that pelt now! Elli looked at the message. "What are you going to do?" she asked. “I don’t know,” they both said. Elli pouted, still thinking about Jake. “You’re crushing on the American dragon!” 89 said. “Just a little,” she admitted.
