Hehe, thought this would be a cool idea if I wrote it from Rose's point of view. The name could use some work. Anyway, that's about all. It will probably be a one-shot unless I decide to continue until season three, but I'll need a lot of reviews for that.
Disclaimer (I always forget these. XD): I do not own American Dragon: Jake Long or any of its characters, but if I did, it wouldn't be cancelled. This story is for the amusement of other people. Yadda yadda.
It was Friday night. I was walking home from school with my friend, who spoke a little bit of English. Why did we have to move to Hong Kong? Why couldn't we go somewhere where people spoke English? I only knew a little bit of Chinese, so I said good-bye to my friend and continued home.
"Hey," said a voice behind me. That was weird, because hardly anyone spoke any English. Must've been a tourist.
"Hey yourself," I replied. He looked a little familiar, but then, there are lots of look-alikes in this world.
"It's Rose, right?" I stopped and turned around.
"Do I know you?" I asked.
"You do," he said. "Or, you did. My name's Jake Long. We went to school together back in New York." I was starting to remember a little bit, but I didn't actually know him. He went on. "It's complicated. Can we go somewhere and talk?" This was a little too weird for me.
"Talk?" I asked. "About what?"
"It's just..." he sighed. "You won't believe me."
"I'm pretty open-minded," I said with a smile. "Give it a shot."
"Okay, here goes," Jake said. He took in a deep breath. I could tell this was going to be long. "The happy life that you're living now is an alternate that I wished for you. You're actually a mythical dragon slayer, who was kidnapped by the Huntsclan and trained since birth to fight and slay dragons. I need you to come with me to Victoria Peak tonight to slay the Dark Dragon in order to save my grandfather and possibly the entire magical world." He sighed after saying all this very quickly. "Phew."
Whoa, that was a little too much. Was he serious? It was pretty laughable, really. How stupid did he think I was?
"Yeah, I'm not that open-minded," I said, turning to leave. He followed me still
"Hold on," he said. "Look, if you just let me explain, I--"
"Look, just leave me alone," I cut him off, starting to get frustrated. Yeah, it was official. He was a complete loon.
"You have to believe me," Jake continued.
"Okay, if I'm some sort of dragon-slayer, that would mean that dragons are real, right?" I said, not believing a word he said.
"Absolutely," he said. "We're the good guys actually."
"We?"
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I'm a dragon." Cra-zy.
"I'm officially creeped out. Bye!" I really hoped he wouldn't keep bothering me. This was really freaky.
"Look, wait," he said, running up to me and grabbing my arm. "Look at this mark on your hand. It's a dragon." I pulled my arm away in shock.
"How did you know about that?" I asked.
"Come with me someplace private," he said. I think he was serious about this dragon stuff... either that or seriously crazy. "I'll turn into a dragon and prove it to you. Rose, look at my eyes. Somehow you have to remember me." I looked and didn't remember anything.
"Let me call ahead and make sure my family's not home," I said, taking my cell phone out. "If you have proof, you can show me there." I walked down an alley so I could talk to them in private. "Mom? It's Rose. I'm coming home, but there's this boy that keeps following me, insisting that he's a dragon.... Yeah, I know, but I think he's maybe hallucinating or something. He knows my name somehow. Okay, bye."
We walked to my house, and up the stairs. I opened the door.
"So, here we are," I said.
"Rose," he said. "I'm so sorry I had to spring all this on you." I walked into the living room as he talked, not looking back. "It's just that my grandfather's..."
"Jake," I said. "These are my parents."
"You called them?" he exclaimed.
"I had to," I said. "Listen, Jake, you seem really nice, but you obviously have some powerful delusions, and I think you need help letting go."
"Rose, no!" Jake said. "I know it sounds unbelieveable, but everything I've told you is true. I can prove it! Watch this. Dragon oof!" Two cops pulled him away.
"Please, don't hurt him," I said.
"Rose, wait, you have to remember me," he said. "You have to." I stared after him. My parents had already gone back into the kitchen.
I sighed a few minutes later and headed into the living room, when something caught my eye. He had left his jacket.
"Hey, Mom, he forgot his ja..." I stopped and looked at the small piece of paper that had fallen out. I picked it up and looked at it. It was a picture. Even more, it was a picture of him and I at a dance. I remembered that night! It was all coming back now, as if there were two sides of everything now. I remembered pretty much everything about us.
Then I realized that Jake needed help. I ran upstairs and searched my closet. There it was. In the back, there was a red and black suit that I had drawn once. My parents thought it was so neat that I designed it that they had it custom made and bought it. I hadn't ever worn it though. I was going to tonight though.
Afer it was on, I hiked up to Victoria Peak, looking up at only the moon. The eclipse had already started. I hadn't seen an eclipse in so long. It was just too busy for that lately. Packing, moving, unpacking, and getting settled in school was all I had time for lately.
Finally, I reached the temple at the top of Victoria Peak. There were many dragons fighting a much larger dragon, most likely the Dark Dragon, and I went around the side and to the back, so I wouldn't be hit by another dragon, or worse, spotted by the Dark Dragon.
"Are there none who can challenge me?" I heard the Dark Dragon say. At that point, I reached the top of the wall and jumped down on him, with a "hi-yah!", hitting him in the face. He growled and covered his face as I jumped onto the top of his head.
"Rose, heads up!" I heard Jake say, as he passed me a Huntsclan staff. I smiled and grabbed it gratefully. Then I started shooting at the Dark Dragon. Just as he was about to attack, I jumped down and ran across the steps. He clawed furiously at me as I dodged his attacked.
I looked up at the moon. The eclipse was ending soon, and the temple started disappearing. I watched as all the dragons left. Now it was just me and the Dark Dragon. I continued fighting, but then realized the place was going to collapse and jumped toward the exit. A long piece of wood fell on my foot, and I was trapped.
I tried to push the wood up with my staff, but it wouldn't budge. Then I saw that Jake was flying toward me. He tried to lift the log.
"Jake, it's too late!" I said. "Let me go!" He ignored me and kept trying to lift it. Finally it lifted and Jake picked me up and flew off with me, when something grabbed his foot. It was the Dark Dragon's tail.
"Huh?" Jake said, trying to fly away still. Finally, I chopped the Dark Dragon's tail and he let go. Jake and I escaped, landing face-first in the dirt. Everyone cheered.
I grabbed Jake and kissed him.
"Rose," he said afterwards. "You remembered. But how?"
"You left this at my house," I said, showing him the picture. "Let's just say it brought back some memories." He held my hands as we stood under the moonlight.
Soon, he had to leave, and I went home with a smile. Now that I remembered him, I was glad.
