Chapter 6- The OC (The interesting one not the tv show)
*A Dark Room somewhere in L.A*
“Master, our spies have reported seeing our subject in Holywood and Ventura county.” A cloaked man said as he walked into the room.
“Very much so. But theres one problem.”
“What is that?”
“He is with her, The Californain Protector.”
“That’s what it looks like.”
“Well Im going to need them both. Bring him to me, and Kill the Californain Protector and make it hurt. For both of them!!”
*Back to the story*
15 Minutes later they landed in Anaheim.
“We have to go to your grandfathers” the pixie said as Shinsei transformed human again. “Quickly as well, You are in great danger”
They walked down a couple of streets. It was midday by now and people were now all gathered at the vast amount of fast food stores surrounding the 2 theme parks. They stopped when they reached a small house.
“Ahh Gramps house” Shinsei said with a smile. She rushed up to the front door and rang the doorbell. A man who looked no older then 40 answered the door.
“Gramps” Shinsei said excitedly as she hugged him.
“Dear Shinsei, Where have you been?” he asked.
“That’s Shinsei’s Gandfather?” The kid asked the pixie in amazement. “Wow, he loks old enough to… to be her brother”
“Well he is 87” The pixie replied back.
“Damn it” The kid replied.
“Don’t worry Grand Father” Shinsei replied to her grand Father. “I can’t quite remember myself.”
Her grand Father then looked at the kid with the pixie. “Who is that, and why is he present with a magical creature”
“Its ok Grandfather, he was just lost. Theres no way we could have avoided it. You Just have to believe me.” Shinsei replied.
“Ok, but by dragon law, he gets a memory potion to forget about all this”
“Ok” Shinsei replied.
“Come in all of you” Her grandfather said. “You to” He pointed at shinsei’s new friend. “We cannot have you go off alone now that you know our secret.”
“Ok” he said and walked up to the front door.
( I have to end the chapter here, Im too busy at the moment)
Ok, this is the part of the story where things start coming together. YOu have to read the story carefully because each chapter contains several subtle clues, no longer will they be easily found like they were for Shinsei. If you can put the story together, and the clues, maybe you can solve the mystery of the Bretheran and the Betrayer, The Kids Past, and the events of the previous night, before I reveal near the end of the story.
Chapter 7- The Bretheran and Betrayer
They walked through the living room, through a door at the back, then into a small study. Shinseid grandfather shut the door behind them.
“I have received word that the time of the Bretheran and Betrayer is near.”
Shinsei gasped in astonishment.
“The what and the What?” Asked her friend.
“This doesn’t concern you” The pixie scolded.
“Do we know who either betrayer is yet?” asked Shinsei.
“No, we don’t” Replied her grandfather. “But we are working towards it”
At that moment there was a ring at the doorbell. Shinsei’s grandfather sighed. “Ill get it” he said then he rushed out of the room.
“Whats the Bretheran and betrayer?” Shinseis Friend asked her. “We are magical creatures. Magical creatures are hunted by the huntsclan, nobody knows why.”
“Yes a group of cult like people who make it their sworn duty to hunt magical creatures, especially dragons.”
“Well According to some number system, which only the most wise of wise beings can interpret there is bound to be a brethren and betrayer. One of us, who betrays us, and helps the huntsclan.”
“Why would someone do that?”
“Their motive is unknown” replied Shinsei.
“Wow that’s bad”
“Yes, but there is a good side to it as well. They also predict that when this happens, a member of the huntsclan, will betray it, and join our side.”
“Geez that is strange” he replied shaking his head.
“Shinsei!!!” Her grandfather Called. “Its Jason!!”
“Oh, Jason” Shinsei replied, and left the room.
“Whos Jason?” her friend asked.
“He is Shinsei’s ex Boyfriend.” The pixie replied. “He can be a real jerk. He says that he is over her, but its plain to see he isn’t.”
Shinseis friend slowly walked out of the room, into the room where Shinsei and Jason was. Jason caught site of him.
“Hey” Jason said.
Shinsei turned for a second.
“Oh, Jason… this is… is… Edward” Shinsei said.
“Hey Edward, getting comfy with Shinsei eh?” he said winking and pointing his fingers.
“Quiet Jason” Shinsei sighed.
“Hey, he kind of looks like me, no wonder, you still have taste Shinsei”
“Ok enough Jason. But your right, he does look like you.” She got Her friend to stand next to Jason.” Wow, I can’t believe how much you 2 look alike, almost could be brothers, same height and all.” She stood looking at them for a second. “Oh, Edward, this is Jason. Did I mention, he is a dragon as well”
“Dragon?” ‘Edward’ yelled jumping.
“I sure am dude” he replied patting ‘Edwards’ hair “I came around cause I heard about the Brethren and betrayer”
The Pixie came out with a memory potion.
“Its time” Shinsei’s grand Father said. “Shinsei, he must drink the potion.”
The pixie gave Shinsei the potion.
“But… we can’t just leave him to figure out his past on his own” Shinsei protested.
“Im afraid that’s our only option… Well according to dragon law, there is another option, you know what I mean, but im sure you wish to avoid that circumstance.”
“This is wrong.” Shinsei groaned.
“Take him away from the house, then give him the potion.” Her grandfather ordered. Shinsei sighed.
“Ok come” she called, beckoning her friend.
“Hey I wish I could come to see his memory wiped, they always act so funny afterwards. But… I have to stay” Jason sblack personed.
“Shut it Jason” Shinsei whispered.
“Does.. Does this hurt?” Shinsei’s stammered very nervously.
“Don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing.” She replied reassuringly.
They walked down the street for a couple of blocks in silence, heading towards Disneyland.
“So will I forget you?” he asked after a while.
“Unfortunately yes, and we can never see each other again” she replied frowning. “You will have to piece together your own past.”
“But..” He stopped walking. Shinsei stopped as well and turned around.
“Yes?” She asked.
“But..” he continued “I.. I don’t want to forget you” he put his head down. “You have been so nce to me, and I find it awesome that I know a dragon… and.. I.. Like you a lot.” He blushed.
“To be honest” Shinsei replied “I don’t want you to forget me either.” She sighed again. “When I look at you I see something. I don’t know, maybe because you remind me of Jason, but a lot sweeter.” She began to blush a little after that.
“And its not just cause you have all that cash” she said attempting to brighten the mood. She forced a giggle, and so did her friend but only to be polite. “I will have known you, and yet, never known your name, or who you really are. I don’t want this either, but I have to, the alternative is far worse, our secret needs to be kept a secret.”
“But I would never tell anyone” He replied, his voice sounding lower and lower. “I would feel so lost without you we were in this together, I know you better then I know myself, literally. All this will have been for nothing.” He continued staring at his feet. Shinsei patted his back.
“Ok” he said looking up. “I have to do this, no more excuses. I must take the potion… I do this for you.”
Shinsei stood there. Inside her a battle was going on. One side, told her to give him the potion. The other side told her to throw it away. What would she do. She looked at her new friend. ‘Should I, or shouldn’t I’ she wondered. ‘I know I will flip I coin. Tails, I give him the potion, heads I don’t.’ She pulled out a quarter and flipped it. It made a ping sound as hit hit the ground, then managed to roll a little bit. She stepped over and looked at the side of the coin that was facing up…
“So… you won’t give me the potion?” Her friend replied hopefully.
“Nope” Shinsei replied. She walked over to a drain and poured the poition into the drain.
“Are you supposed to be doing that?” her friend asked. “Won’t it end up in the LA river?”
“If you call that little trickle of water a River.” She replied. “Ah well its been done, and now I have to hide you somewhere.” With that she turned and began walking back towards her house.
“Thank you” Replied her friend and he walked after her.
“Any news on our friends yet”? The a man wearing a dragon skull asked a cloaked man.
“Not yet sire, though our spy is out there finding information” he replied.
“Good. Any news of the Secret weapon?”
“Not yet, but it should be ready in about a week, just in time for the conference.”
“Good, All Magical creatures have 1 week to live, but first we must dispose of the Californian Dragon, Ill call my our agent, see what’s going on”
Shinsei and her friend were walking along the side of a busy street.
“I know where you can stay” Shinsei commented, “It’s a perfect place, where you will not be found.”
Suddenly they both head a phone ring. It was coming from Shinsei’s new friend.
“You have a cellphone?” Shinsei asked.
“I… I don’t know” He replied looking puzzled.
He patted around his pockets, but didn’t feel anything. The ringing nose seemed to be coming from lower. He patted around his legs, and sure enough he felt something solid. There was a hidden pocket there. He pulled the phone out and answered it.
“Hello?” He asked. Then he said “Hang on.” He turned to Shinsei.
“I will just go around the corner, it’s too busy to hear what they are saying here.”
With that he walked around the side of a house.
‘Wow I can’t believe im doing this’ Shinsei thought. ’This could get me in so much trouble.’
After a little bit, her friend came back from the side of the house.
“Who was it?” Shinsei asked. “Anyone you remember?”
“No”.. He replied slowly “It was… Just a wrong number”
“Uh ok then” Shinsei replied, but something about his response made her uncertain. They continued walking the rest of the way to the house in silence. Once there, they had to sneak around the back of the house. Shinsei went ahead to make sure all was clear, then she slid open the back door.
“Quick, down these stairs” She instructed him.
He quickly but quietly rushed down the stairs. There was a door at the bottom. Shinsei followed him and opened the door. Behind it was a bedroom.
“This is my Bedroom” Shinsei said walking over to a door on the other side of the room.
“Here is a small room that no one ever goes into” Shinsei continued. “You can stay in there till you get your memory back”
“Thank you” he replied.
The room was dark, but it had a light. It had a concrete floor, and was very bare. It looked fairly cold.
“Why is there an empty room?” He asked.
“It was there from before we bought the house.” She replied. “Don’t worry, I will get you a matress and some warm sheets, I can also easily sneak food down here. I guarantee you are safe.”
The sounds of hammering, sawing and clanking resonated through the house as Shinsei walked up the stairs.
“Alright Grandpa I’m going out for dinner tonight” Shinsei called. The sounds stopped for a second.
“Alright then” He replied then continued.
Shinsei and her friend walked out the back door into the cool air of the night.
“Man that was loud” He said. “What does your grandfather do?”
“He is a technical engineer for the rides at Disneyland and California adventure” Shinsei replied.
“What, a dragon master forced to build rides for kids?”
“Well he does have to have make a living human world” Shinsei replied.
“Oh right of course” he replied.
They walked quietly for a little longer. “What about your phone?” Shinsei asked after a while. “There might be some names that you recognise”
“I’ve tried looking through the contacts list” he replied. “ About half the names seem familiar, but I just can’t seem to put faces to them.”
They walked along the side of the road in darkness for a little longer, then a stream of cars passed by them, it seems the cars had chosen the exact moment that they needed to cross.
“I can’t believe your not deterred by my secret” Shinsei spoke after a while of standing there.
“Well to be honest, it almost feels natural now that I think about it, almost as if I somehow knew before hand.”
“Wow, I see we still have quite a bit to learn about each other” Shinsei replied, trying her hardest to think back to the previous night.
After a while there was another break in the stream of cars and they were able to cross.
“Why do you live with your grandfather? Where are your parents?” Shinseis friend then asked.
“Oh my parents?” Shinsei replied. “They live and work in The Greater L.A area, I stay here so that my grandfather can effectively teach me.
“That sounds cool” he replied.
She looked into his eyed. He turned away for a second in a quick bluish, but forced himself to look back. They stopped outside a French restaurant.
“Care for some escargot?” Shinsei asked him?
“Uhhh yeah” He replied.
They walked in together.
“Bonjour” The waiter greeted them.
“Un Table pur duex” Shinsei replied.
“You speak French?” her friend asked.
“A little, most of the French I learned from this restaurant” She laughed. “I just asked for a table for 2”
“That is so cool” He replied, “Learning French at a French Restaurant.”
They followed the waiter to a vacant table.
“Care for some escargot and Cuisses de Grenouilles? As usual Madam” The waiter asked.
“Oui” she replied.
“Et pour le monsieur?”
“Ill a cest aussi” she replied.
The waiter left with their order.
“okaaay” her friend said, so what was that about?
“I was just ordering for you” She smiled almost deviously.
“Whats going on?” he asked suspiciously.
“Don’t worry nothing” She smiled back.
“What did you order me?” He asked.
“It’s a surprise, I will tell you afterwards.”
They talked a little while longer. Of course they didn’t have much to talk about since one didn’t seem to have a past, but they began talking about how much they enjoyed each others company.
“This is great, I can’t thank you enough for sparing what’s left of my memory” He told her.
“No problems” She repeated.
“I think I love you” He blurted out without thinking. He suddenly realised what he just said and groaned, bringing his hand up to his face.
“Its ok” She replied, “I seem to have feelings for you.”
“You do?” He asked.
He felt his heart flutter less then a day of knowing someone and he had already hooked up. He began blushing. He was still blushing when the waiter brought them their food. After what had just happened, he didn’t feel in the mood to question what he was eating, but he thought it tasted good. He complimented the food, which made Shinsei smile, but it was another one of those devious looking smiles. After they finished eating, they decided to leave. Shinsei’s Friend pulled out his wad of cash.
“How Much?” He asked the waiter.
“$50” The waiter replied.
“$50” He replied out loud. “That’s highway robbery.” Then he remembered Shinsei. “Ok $50 it is champ” he smiled a little uncomfortably at Shinsei who just shrugged. He paid then put away the cash, and they began to walk back to Shinsei’s house.
Everything seemed so tranquil, serene and placid on their walk home, it was so quiet, they could hear each other breath, and not a car seemed to pass by. But they could see a storm approaching on the horizon, and decided not to ruin the silence. They finally got to Shinseis house and walked around the back. She got ready to Open the door, then she turned and said.
“Oh and by the way, at the restaurant, you had Frogs legs and snails”
“Ugh” he replied then laughed. “I had a feeling you would do that.” He didn’t care much though he was happy. He just followed Shinsei into the house and went down to his hideout.

Chapter 10- Murder
That night the wind piked up to gale force as a storm raged outside the house. It was enough to keep Shinsei awake, as the wind howled and the thunder boomed in the sky. Shinsei lay in her bed, attempting to sleep, but sleep wouldn’t come. The storm was far too vicious to allow sleep. Shinsei wondered if Her friend had gotten to sleep through all this. She got up and out of her bed and tip toed to the small room. She quietly opened the door. It was dark but the constant flashing of lightning illuminated the room enough for her to see that he was sound asleep. ‘I wonder how he sleeps through this?’ She thought as she quietly closed the door and tiptoed to her bed. She lay down and sighed. Damn storm. She decided to move her focus away from the storm onto the gently hypnotic hum of the Air conditioning unit. Slowly she began to feel herself getting drowsy. She closed her eyes and within a few minutes, she fell asleep again.
“Shinsei” Someone called. She awoke with a shock.
“Shinsei wake up” repeated the voice. Shinsei was tired from the lack of sleep she got last night. She looked at her alarm clock and groaned.
“Argh 7:00AM” she groaned aloud.
“Shinsei, you must come, it is very important, you must follow me immediately” The voice continued. It was her grand father.
“Ok Ok” Shinsei replied, “just let me get dressed.”
“Ok replied her grandfather. I want to see you up the stairs in 5 minutes.”
Shinsei drowsily got dressed as quickly as she could, she was still a little tired. She had forgotten about her friend in the adjacent room. When she was finished she stumbled up the stairs.
“Shinsei, come, I will explain on the way” Her grandfather said picking up the house keys. The house looked more locked up then it usually did.”
“But” she started.
“Now” he replied sharply.
They walked out the front door and he locked it. He then started walking down the street.
“Shinsei” he began. “You remember the Magical Ambassador to California a Ligeress by the name of Miss Shelf was on her way to see the dragon council?”
“Uh vaguely” Shinsei replied.
“Well it seems that a tragedy has befallen her”
“In short Murder” her grandfather replied coldly.
“The Magical Ambassador to California Murdered? Who would do such a thing?”
“Witnesses say they saw…. Saw a huntsclan member” her grandfather sighed.
“How can that be?” Shinsei asked.
“It means they must know where the entry points to the magical world are here in L.A. They have ordered a full lockdown only authorised personnel can get in and out. Luckily that includes us. It seems that the time of the brethren and betrayer is now at hand. Much sooner then I had hoped.”
They began to pick up speed as they walked towards the transition point between the magical and human world. “We must oversee the investigation. Apparently they have a fairly promising lead.”
“What is it?” Shinsei asked.
“As of yet, I still don’t know, we will have to go and see.”
They continued down the street, then walked next to the fence at Disneyland.
“The land of magic and dreams, but Humans just don’t know how literal that is” laughed Shinsei.
Then they got to the ticket entrance and walked straight to the VIP line. They pulled out their wallets and flashed their Magic cards. The elf attendant then let them through into Disneyland. They walked through till they found Pirates of the Caribbean. They went round the back and entered the through the maintenance door. They were now in a room with 2 doors, One unlocked door on the right and one locked door with a security keypad on the left.
“You remember the combination Shinsei?”
“1646853 If I were a maintenance worker, 8558217 To access Draco island and 7894653 to access Draco island under duress” Shinsei replied.
“Good” replied her grandfather. “Enter the code.”
Shinsei walked over, it was almost too dark, to see the keypad but the numbers were lit up so you could see them. She shivered as she thought that this could have been the same place that the hunts clan member entered through. “8558217” she said aloud as she entered the code. The little red light above the panel turned green and a small buzzer sounded.
“So If we have a duress code here, that must have meant that the member not only knew how to get here alone, but also knew the code. Wouldn’t that indicate the brethren and betrayer rather then huntclan?” She asked.
“But witness reports stated it was a huntsclan member who ambushed them” her grandfather replied. He must have gotten the info from the brethren and betrayer.
Shinsei opened the door. There was a lift with the lift attendant waiting for them inside.
“Hold on tight” he instructed, but Shinsei already knew that since she had been to draco island once before. The lift started its plummet down to draco island and although Shinsei knew what to do, it was still a little startling to be in the feeling of freefall in her human form. The elevator took about 5 seconds to hit the bottom, where it stoped suddenly creating high inertial forces on them. Everyone seemed to manage it fine though. The elevator doors then opened and Shinsei and her grandfather stepped out. They began walking along a long winding path through small grassy hills. Occasionally there would be a dragon or another magical creature training. Eventually they came to a clearing, which was taped off, there also seemed to be quite a crowd surrounding something. Shinsei’s Grandfather showed his pass and they were allowed to proceed. Shinseri felt a little nervous as they approached the murder scene.
They walked past the crowd of media and detectives, to get a look. 3 Bodies lying there did Shinsei see, and another man named Bellows moving around mysteriously.
“Hey I’m detective Bellows, of the magic police squad.” He greeted Shinsei. She was still transfixed by the brutal carnage that was presented in front of her.
“You alright?” he asked.
“Uh… yeah” Shinsei replied after a while, she began to feel sick.
“Who would do such a thing. That looked very brutal” Shinsei whispered to her grandfather.
“Calm down” He replied. “Don’t let the blood distract you.”
“I want my team to accompany you two” Detective Bellows ordered. See on the ground, there is a trail of blood leading away from where Miss Shelf and her guards were murdered. I want you to follow that for as long as it goes.
Shinsei looked at the blood trail. It went back the way they came. Shinsei was surprised she hadn’t noticed it before. With that, Shinsei and her grandfather, along with a few others started following the trail of blood. Back over the paths, through the hills, it even led into the same elevator she came down on. ‘Damn’ Shinsei thought as she realised she had gone the same path the elevator took. She went back up the elevator, there didn’t seem to be any blood in there, but she noticed there were a few drops here and there when she got out again. By now the blood trail was beginning to thin out a lot, Shinsei and the rest stepped out of the elevator. It was getting harder and harder to find blood spots.
“We might be able to find the hunts clans lair” Shinsei’s grandfather reported excitedly, looking at the trail of blood. It led to a fence at the side of Disneyland, where they discovered a small hole cut into it. They climbed through the hole and looked at the blood. Shinsei got a bad feeling when she saw which way the blood trail led. By now the blood drops were so small that it seemed that they had to look very closely, but it was hard as they were next to a busy street and they also had to try and act casual in order to avoid any attention. As they followed the blood trail, Shinsei’s feeling grew. It got worse the further they followed it, and to make it more agonising for Shinsei as they got further and further, it took them longer and longer to move on, cause it was getting very hard to find the bloodspots. Luckily one of the team had special vision which allowed them to pick up the blood spots but even with that it was difficult. They continued to follow the spots and it led straight to where Shinsei thought it would. To her House. She looked at her grandfather who looked very puzzled.
“Whats going on?” He asked no one in particular. Shinsei just looked down.
‘It couldn’t be’ She thought, but continued following the blood trail. It lead around the back of her house, to the back door. ‘No!’ Shinsei thought to herself again. Through the door, down the stairs. Shinseis heart really began to sink as she walked down the stairs.
“Shinsei, what’s going on?” Her grandfather asked demandingly as they were led into her room. “You look very pale.”
Shinsei didn’t respond. She didn’t bother looking for anymore blood. She just walked over to the door in the far room and pulled it open. She gasped and took a step back. There was blood everywhere. In the middle of the room, there lay her friend. Alive. That is what she feared. He woke up at the sound of everyone there staring at him. He looked at Shinsei
“Shinsei, I had this really weird dream.” He stopped when he realised a lot of people were staring at him ”Wh…Whats going on?” he asked.
“Shinsei, I thought I told you to give him a memory potion!!!” Her grandfather yelled pointing at her friend.
“Im sorry but…” she replied feebly.
“BUT NOTHING!!” He yelled.
“Whats going on?” Her Friend repeated again.
The agents stormed into the room.
“Put your hands up into the air” they yelled. “You are under arrest for the murder of Miss Shelf The Magical Californian ambassador.”
lol Have I been spelling Shensei wrong all this time? XD
If a few more people decide to read and review I might consider a sequel when ive finished this story.
Chapter 11- A matter of faith
The hand him bound and handcuffed. Shensei looked at him with questioning eyes.
“Shensei” he said softly. “You know this is BS. You know I didn’t do this.”
Shensei just stood there and hung her head. She didn’t know what to believe.
“You know Shinsei.” He called out.
Her deep thoughts were interrupted by her grandfather. “I thought I told you to give him a memory potion, and instead I find you concealing him? Now look what you have gotten us into” He yelled. “We are in deep trouble, this is very embarrassing for the dragon council.”
“Very embarrassing indeed” Came a voice. It was a dragon High court marshal, one rank below councillor.
“Im sorry Court Marshall Argent” Her grandfather started stammering as he knelt before the High court Marshal. “I..I can explain.”
“I don’t want you to explain a thing” The Court Marshall Argent replied. “As you know, this is very embarrassing for the dragon order. Under dragon law, you would be severely punished. But in light of these circumstances that the knowledge of this event has been contained to a collect few, I have a way which will ensure that the council is not embarrassed and it means n one shall be punished. You are aware of our ‘Plan B’ are you not?”
“Yes sir I am” Shensei’s grandfather replied.
“Good well you know what must be done then.”
“Yes sir” he replied.
With that the court Marshall summoned all his men to leave, leaving their prisoner in the room with Shensei and her grandfather.
“What did he mean by plan B?’ Shensei asked after a moments silence.
“Coverup” he replied.
“Yes. All witnesses involved sign a pact that they will never tell anyone and the perpetrator must be killed.”
Shensei’s heart sank. Even if he was the killer, she didn’t know if she could stomach the idea of having this guy killed. She struggled for words.
“No speaking Shensei, Might I remind you are the one who got us into this, you must get us out of this.”
“You want me to kill him?” Shensei asked, shocked.
“Shensei you know I didn’t do this” her friend broke in.
“Shut up” yelled her grandfather who walked over and smacked him in the sde of the face sending him sprawling over.
“You know what you have to do Shensei, do it now. I am very disappointed that you disobeyed me. The Dragon council may not wish to press charges, but we shall have a long talk when you get home.”
That made Shensei feel really scared. Not only would she have to kill the boy she fell in love with, but she would be yelled at and punished harshly upon her return home.
“Take the hunts scum to the abandoned dump and finish him there. I want you back in less then half an hour.” He growled.
Shensei slowly walked over to him and grabbed his cuffed hands and pulled him towards the stairs.
“Alright, alright I’m coming” he complained and Shensei let go of him and climbed the stairs. He followed closely behind.
They walked in silence for a few blocks. Shensei couldn’t bare to talk to him. She had no idea whether he had done it or not and she did not want to do this. Shensei scaled the fence into the abandoned dump and helped him up and into the dump as well. They walked into the middle of the dump. Then her friend gathered the courage, grabbed her arm and made her turn around and he looked into her eyes.
“You know I didn’t do this Shensei. You know me.”
“I don’t know you, that’s the problem. I know nothing of your past.”
“I would never do anything to hurt you Shensei.
“Im sorry but I have to” A tear formed in Shensei’s eye. “Turn around and face this wall” she said pushing him back against a brick wall.
“No” he said in sort of defiance. “You do this, you do it to my face” he replied.
Shensei looked into his eyes. They were not the eyes of a killer. She searched her thoughts and feelings, once again she was torn apart as to what she should do. She began to really feel that he was innocent, but she did not know what her grandfather would do if she let him go. She closed her eyes and then transformed into a dragon. She looked again down into his eyes. She lifted her dragon claw. Once again she shut her eyes, then made up her mind. In one swift moment she swiped at him. He had to close his eyes as well. He felt the claw come closer and the claw swipe at him.
Then he felt nothing. He put his hands up to his face and slowly opened his eyes. The cuffs, were broken. Then he saw Shinsei, in her human form with tears in her eyes. She had severed the handcuffs. He smiled at Shinsei, then with one powerful movement he threw his arms around her and embraced her in a hug.
“My grandfather probably sent someone out to spy on me, but few magical creatures dare step into this tip. They will be watching me as I leave and I cannot leave with you. Stay here for 10 minutes, then leave through the other side of the tip. Ill meet you tonight just outside California adventure where the large Ferris wheel is at about 7:30 PM ok?.”
“Alright” he agreed.
He stayed next to the wall as Shensei walked out of sight. He didn’t know if he should tell her his dream after what had just happened. It was cloudy in his mind, but he dreamed of some sort of cult. Everyone was in balaclavas, they were doing some sort of ritual. He was sure that was the first time he saw it, but it somehow also looked familiar, a sort of déjà vu.
Shensei walked past a pile of garbage. Towards the exit, when suddenly a swift movement caught the corner of her eye. Suddenly a huntsclan member jumped out from the garbage with his staff fully charged and fired a beam straight at Shensei. Shensei just had enough time to dive and roll forward. She then turned around and faced trhe huntsclan member.
“Wh..Who are you and what do you want?” she lied pretending to sound scared.
“Don’t play dumb with me” the huntsclan member replied bitterly. “I know who you are, don’t try to pretend your not” he hissed charging up his staff.
“How could you possibly know that?” Shensei asked.
“We have a little informant which tells us. He told us your human identity.”
“Damn it” Replied Shensei as she transformed dragon.
“Prepare to die dragon” The huntsclan member taunted as he fired an energy blast at her, which she jumped over and it hit the pile of garbage, causing it to collapse a little. Shensei tucked her wings in to dive at the huntsclan member who jumped to the side at the last minute, but Shinsei got him as she spread her wings in order to fly again. He was knocked over, but jumped back on his feet again.
“You cannot defeat me Dragon” he yelled, jumping high onto a pile of garbage but it was unstable so it collapsed beneath his feet.
“Argh” He yelled jumping off that and onto the ground. “Its time to turn things up a little bit” he smirked. Shinsei prepared as he ran at her, but then he suddenly seemed to disappear.
“Hey, where did you go?” Shinsei asked, but her question was soon answered the hard way, as she heard him say “Right behind you!!!”
She began to turn around, but it was too late, the huntsclan member blasted her with a strong energy blast and she went flying into another pile of garbage, causing it to collapse.
“It ends NOW DRAGON!!!” he yelled as he quickly caught up to her lying in the garbage. He charged up his staff. She had nowhere to go. She was still a little shcked by the last blast he hit her with. Then suddenly he yawned.
“Feel so tired…” He began to say, dropping his staff, then falling onto his knees, then onto the ground asleep. Before Shinsei could work out what was happening, a small shrill voice spoke up.
“Sleeping powder” She said. “Gets them every time.” It was her pixie friend.
“Hey” Shinsei greeted excitedly as she noticed her. “What are you doing here?”
“Your grandfather sent me here to spy on you” The pixie replied nervously. “I refused to enter the tip, but when I heard this commotion, I made myself overcome the fear and came in to see what was going on.”
“Well thanks” Smiled Shinsei.
“So is it done? Is he dead?” The pixie asked.
Shinsei sighed. She struggled whether she should tell her friend the truth. Then she decided against it for now.
“Yeah he is dead” she replied glumly.
“We have to be more careful” The pixie said as Shinsei began walking towards the exit of the dump. There have been more and more reports of Magical creatures being attacked by the huntsclan all over the city. Its almost as if they know where we are, where we will be and all our hang out spots.” The pixie said nervously. “Now that he is dead I expect we should have little more trouble from the huntsclan.”
“I certainly hope so” Shinsei replied nervously.
Shinsei got it bad from her grandfather upon returning to her house. She was told that as punishment she would be required to dedicate twice the amount of time each week to her dragon work. It would also be a lot tougher. She didn’t worry about that too much. She had other pressing things on her mind. She was convinced that the murderer could not be her friend and therefore she was thinking that the real one was at large. That worried her more now that the hunts clan knew exactly where to find her. It was the first thing on her mind as Shinsei was forced to do work late into the night, so she missed her meeting with her friend.
