I decided to make my Halloween one-shot! And it’s a little early to post it, but ah well. I figure this would be something very good, so enjoy! AND NO POINTLESS POSTSSSSS. This is set after SoP and before CU.
Halloween One-Shot: Heaven’s Darkness
“Happy Halloween!”
“Enough already.” Jake groaned to Elaine, who was in a cat-type costume in front of Jake, who looked like a knight.
“I need to practice my chipper tone for when Shade arrives.” sweetly smiled Elaine at Jake. He grumbled a little and walked away. Spud and Trixie were next to walk into the area in front of Elaine.
“I’m being a werewolf! I think that it’s perfect because there’s a full moon tonight, which is rare on Halloween.” explained Spud, scratching the back of his left ear with his furry hands.
“Even though when you see on TV for Halloween specials, it’s always a full moon.” Trixie chuckled with her arms crossed. She had on a ‘bride of Frankenstein’ costume.
“That’s true!” the pink-haired cat realized and giggled, “So, have you two seen Florence or Shade?”
“Uh… I saw Florence and she was a princess.” said Trixie with her hands on her chin as she thought.
“And I remember Shade saying that he was going to be a pirate.” Spud added with his right hand up and his index finger out. Right at that moment, Florence walked onto the scene with a green dress that fit her princess design.
“Very nice.” Elaine complimented to Florence with a nice and calming smile. In return, Flo let out a curtsey and looked around.
“Any sign of Shade?” she wondered. The three who were there shook their heads. A while of waiting led to Shade arriving at the school in front of them.
“Hey, guys!” greeted the ice dragon. Spud and Trixie waved a little while Elaine and Florence shot to hug him. Shade laughed once the whole ‘greeting’ scene was over and yawned.
“Are you going to the school party tonight?” Trixie asked.
“Sorry, I can’t. Bartholomew is making me take lessons from someone important: a person who knows many different ways of controlling water. Honestly, I think I’m going to be enjoying it.” explained Shade with a smile.
“Oh. Well, have fun with that.” Florence added slowly.
“You know, you can come too.” laughed Shade in a reply, “It’s interesting too, it’s in a place where the Huntsclan used to rule, but now it simply has ancestors, relatives, and children of the Huntsclan members who are no longer there.”
“Wow,” began Florence, “I wonder who to bring then…” she muttered slowly, putting her gloved hand on her chin. Spud and Trixie were already gone at this point.
“Well, you two can come and invite one person each, I guess.” Shade shrugged. Elaine and Florence nodded and walked off to start the school day.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
After school, Shade met with Florence, Toph, Raffi, and Kevin after school. Elaine decided not to go and baby-sit her little brother and give candy to trick-or-treaters.
(A/N: I just HAVE to add the only people who read my fan-fics.)
“So who is this lady that we’re meeting?” Kevin asked as the five of them slowly went along through the trail.
“Bartholomew wasn’t all that specific, but he is going to be there with us at where she is.” answered Shade with his hands in his pockets.
“Look, the village is up ahead!” Raffi called out, pointing ahead. Bartholomew greeted them when they got into the front of the town and started walking inward to the town area.
“The woman who will help us is an innkeeper, but we have to be careful: people have been vanishing under full moons.” Shade’s dragon master told them. The five of them nodded and got into the area of the inn and Bartholomew knocked on the door. An old lady answered the door with a kind and gentle smile.
“Hi, Hana.” Bartholomew greeted and bowed to the lady, who bowed back, “And this is where I leave, I’ll see you all later.” the dragon walked off.
“Hello, children, my name is Hana. Please do come in.” Hana greeted and let them all in. Once they were all in, they sat around a table with empty bowls and plates of bread.
“You have a nice inn, thanks for letting us stay.” Florence said kindly as she took a bite of her bread.
“Thank you and you’re welcome. Would anyone like five-flavor soup?” asked Hana, watching all five hands go into the air. Hana moved her arms and controlled the soup to move into all five bowls.
“You ARE the water controller! I’ve never met anyone else near North America with the same powers as I do!” Shade gasped happily.
“That’s because the Huntsclan wiped them all out. I was the last one.” Hana said sorrowfully.
“So how did you end up out here?” wondered Kevin. Hana just looked up at them and began a flashback…
“I was stolen from my home.”
A young Hana was walking through a town in a snowy region and met up with a friend and they both smiled at each other for a greeting.
“It was over sixty years ago when the raid started.” narrated Hana as it showed dark soot falling from the sky. Hana and her friend ran to the icy border and saw numerous Huntsclan ships, each of them shooting a green laser attack at the snowy town. Many Huntsclan members walked into town and started attacking, many people with water powers attacking back. Nets were capturing some of the water controllers from people in the Huntsclan.
“They came again and again,” Hana continued, shooting snow at a net and ripping it before it hit her, “each time rounding up more and more of us who controlled water and taking them captive.
“We did our best to hold them off, but our numbers dwindled as the raids continued.” people helping Hana were all gone and she was alone, circled by many members of the Huntsclan. She lowered from her battle position and showed that she had to give up.
“Finally, I too was captured. I was led away in chains; the last person to control water in our part of the world.” led away onto a ship, the door of the ship closed as the young Hana’s face slowly vanished.
“They put us in terrible prisons here in Huntsclan territory.” Hana said as the flashback finished, “I was the only one who managed to escape.”
“How did you get away? And why did you stay here, in Huntsclan territory?” Kevin asked more questions.
“I’m sorry… it’s too painful to talk about anymore…” Hana shook her head as her voice trembled. Florence was next to her and coddling her calmly.
“We completely understand, we’ve all lost someone important in our lives.” the girl said to them. Shade was now up and next to her, helping Florence be nice to her.
“I can’t tell you what it means to meet you, it’s an honor… you’re a hero!” said Shade with a nice smile on his face.
“I never thought I’d meet someone who’s a dragon and can control water like I do, I’d like to teach you what I know to continue the tradition of our powers when I’m gone.” Hana told Shade. He had a shocked look on his face, but then shot back and had a nice smile on his face.
“Yes! Yes, of course! To learn about part of my heritage, it would mean a lot to me.” Shade bowed after stating his comment to Hana. She smiled back at him.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Hana and Shade were walking to the trail to the forest.
“Growing up in a place with snow, ice, and seas would make it seem easier to just control everything around you, but you may have realized that in your travels, you are very limited to this.” Hana said.
“I know. I am able to conjure ice, but with my power slowly expanding and getting older, I can’t do it so well.” answered Shade as they stopped at the border of trees.
“That’s why you have to learn to control water wherever it exists.” the old lady continued, “Did you know you can even pull water out of thin air?” Hana’s right hand went up. She moved her hand around a little and water covered her fingers, “You’ve got to keep an open mind, Shade. There’s water in places you never think about.” the water on her fingers froze over and she threw the icicles at a tree.
The others were out and trying to find out why the ‘spirit’ was haunting the town.
“This is a great natural setting, I don’t see anything that would make a spirit mad around here.” Raffi said as she turned to Toph.
“Maybe the moon spirit just turned mean.” she suggested, turning to Kevin, who was smelling some autumn flowers.
“I really doubt that.” Kevin muttered. A man walked by as Florence ran over to him.
“Excuse me sir, can you tell me about the spirit who’s been stealing people?” Florence asked him.
“Only one man ever saw it and lived: and that’s Old Man Ding.” the man told them. Toph was now pulling on his sleeve.
“Where does Old Man Ding live?”
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
It was still bright, but it looked like the sun would be setting soon. Shade and Hana were now in a place with many yellow flowers all around them.
“These flowers look nice.” Shade said as they walked through the field of flowers.
“They’re called Sun Lilies. They only bloom a few weeks a year, but they’re my favorite thing of living here. And like all plants, and all living things, they are filled with water.” Hana explained to Shade.
“Oh, right! I learned one time that you could control plants by controlling the water in them!” said Shade.
“You can take it even further…” Hana moved in a circle and stole the water from the plants and shot the large amount of water she now had at a rock and sliced it into slabs.
“That was incredible!” Shade gasped. He turned down and saw that the flowers had been absorbed of their vibrant color and life, “It’s a shame about the lilies, though.”
“They’re just flowers. When you’re like me and in a strange land, you do what you must to survive.” Hana said, “Tonight, I’ll teach you the ultimate technique of controlling water; even more powerful than controlling a person by their blood. I’m sure you know how to use that, anyway. It can only be done at nighttime and first learned during a full moon.”
“But, isn’t that dangerous? I thought people have been disappearing around here during the full moon.” the frozen dragon muttered to Hana.
“Oh, Shade. Two master water controllers under a full moon? I think we don’t have anything to worry about.” reassured Hana as she walked away.
It was now nighttime while Toph, Kevin, Raffi, and Florence were headed to Old Man Ding’s place.
“Old Man Ding?” wondered Raffi. The old man was holding a hammer and accidentally hit his thumb.
“What is it, what do you want?” the guy asked angrily.
“Um… we would like to know about the spirit you saw?” Florence slowly muttered.
“Oh, no, I didn’t see a spirit, just felt something come over me, like I was possessed. Forced me to start walking toward the mountain! I tried to fight it, but I couldn’t control my own limbs. It just about had me into a cave up there and I looked up at the moon for what I thought would be my last glimpse of light. But then, the sun started to rise, and I got control of myself again! After that, I ran as fast as I could.” explained Old Man Ding in a long way.
“Why would a spirit want to take people to a mountain?” wondered Kevin.
“Oh no! I knew that I did hear voices in the mountain when we were up there!” Toph called out.
“You heard voices?” wondered Raffi.
“I didn’t tell you because they vanished quickly after. The missing villagers must still be there!” Toph finished. They all looked at the mountain worriedly.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
The five of them were running quickly through the forest-covered mountain and Toph felt the ground.
“I can hear them, they’re this way!” Toph led the way through the whole confusing area.
Hana was leading Shade through the same general area.
“Can you feel the power the full moon brings?” Hana asked Shade, stopping and embracing the moonlight. Her arms were now held out and she relaxed, “For generations, it has blessed others with its glow, allowing us to do incredible things!” Hana’s arm was shooting out some of her veins and her fingers went tight, like a werewolf’s, “I’ve never felt more alive...”
Toph was still leading them until they got in front of a lower-elevated cave.
“This is the place.” Toph said.
“I can’t see anything down there.” Kevin muttered.
“That’s why you have me. Let’s go!” Toph grabbed Kevin’s wrist and jumped down with Raffi and Florence jumping in after them. After running a little through the dark cave, they came up to a metal cave. Toph jammed her right foot onto the ground and them fisted the door and controlled the metal to shoot away and make an opening. With torches in their hands, they ran though and saw the missing Huntsclan people chained up against the wall.
“We’re saved!” a man said, watching them. Toph secretly controlled earth into a key and started opening some chains.
“Why would a spirit want to build a prison?” wondered Kevin as he looked closely around with his torch in hand.
“It wasn’t a spirit, it was a witch!” an old man who was chained up told them. Raffi turned and looked closer at them.
“A witch? What do you mean?”
“She seems like a normal old woman, but she controls crazy things, even our own bodies, like some dark puppet master.” the chained up woman explained, rubbing her wrists once she was free.
“Hana.” Kevin gritted his teeth as he said this comment.
“Yes, the innkeeper!” a trapped prisoner said.
“I knew there was something creepy about her!” Kevin called out.
“We have to stop Hana!” Florence looked at Kevin and said this.
“I’ll get these people out of here, you go!” yelled Toph. Kevin handed Toph his torch and started running off with Florence out of the cave.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
“You know, the first werewolf was a water controller with a DNA mutation.”
“How interesting…” Shade muttered, seeing Hana turn her back on Shade.
“What I’m about to show you I discovered in that wretched Huntsclan prison…” began Hana, starting another flashback. Young Hana was sadly looking out of her cell in a cruel and evil place that was her prison.
“The guards were always careful to keep any water away from us. The piped in dry air and had us suspended away from the ground. Before giving us any water, they would bind our hands and feet so we couldn’t control it. Any sign of trouble was met with cruel retribution.” Hana explained as it showed her bind and eating food on a bowl tied to a string.
“And yet each full moon, I felt it enriching me with its energy. There had to be something I could do to escape.” muttered Hana slowly, “But then I realized that the night brings cold and this vast coldness surrounds the universe. With it, I knew that I could control the cold to move something from space. For years I taught myself to control the cosmos and used this skill…” young Hana is seen controlling a small star to come down and shoot through her cage and right through a rat in her cage.
“But I had to get out of the cage, which is when I learned how to control a person to move and open my cell. Once I was able to perfect both moves, only needing one full moon for both, since you have to know the basics every full moon, I was ready to finally escape. As soon as I was out of my cage and the prison, I controlled the cold air of night and crushed the prison with a water star.” evilly answered the old lady.
“Once you perfect this skill, you can control the skies; the entire universe.”
“But… to control the entire world and beyond? I don’t know if I want that kind of power.” Shade muttered as he turned away and half closed his eyes.
“The choice is not yours. The power exists and it’s your duty to use these gifts to win any battles with enemies you face. Shade, they tried to wipe us out, our entire culture!” Hana tried to reason with her in a slightly angered tone.
“I know…” his voice mustered.
“Then you should understand what I’m talking about! We’re the last dragons who control water like this, we have to fight these people and any others like them whenever we can, wherever they are with any means necessary!” the wind was blowing through their hair, clothing, and moving the leaves.
“It’s you…” realized Shade as he darted up to look at Hana, “You’re the person whose making people disappear on the full moons!”
“They threw me in prison to rot, along with my brothers and sisters. They deserve the same; you must carry on my work!” Hana’s dark face lowered as she glared at Shade.
“I won’t, I won’t use any type of cosmic powers and I won’t allow you to keep terrorizing this town!” Shade pointed his left finger at Hana, but let out a call of shock when a star shot next to him and he stopped moving.
“You should have learned the technique before you turned against me! The radiation from stars can keep you in place while I control your body!” the evil lady moved her arms around again while Shade struggled being pulled back and forth by Hana’s powers.
“Stop… please!” begged Shade after being pulled down to his knees by Hana’s powers. Slowly, Hana chuckled a little, which turned into a wicked laughter from Hana. Shade looked up to the full moon and slowly got to his feet.
“You’re not the only one who draws power from the moon. My power is more powerful than yours, Hana.” Shade watched Hana move to a different position and prepared to fight.
“Your technique is useless on me!” Shade called out before moving his arms and drawing the water from the grass below and shot the large water chain at Hana, who returned the attack with force. Shade simply shot the water attack back at Hana, but she stole water from two trees and tossed them at Shade, as well as the water stolen from the grass. After the trees died from losing water, all three water blasts mixed into one. The frozen dragon took a step back and pushed his right hand at the water and it blew up into many small water particles that floated around Shade and Hana’s faces. Quickly, Shade controlled all this water and used two blasts to hit Hana down to her back.
“AAHH!!!” she yelled as she fell. Footsteps could be heard as Florence and Kevin entered the scene.
“We know what you’ve been doing, Hana!” barked Kevin at the woman.
“Give up, you’re outnumbered!” Florence got into a battle position with Kevin.
“No! You’ve outnumbered yourselves…” Hana muttered as she slowly got up. Stars shot and froze the two in place while Hana controlled their blood to move them and attack Shade. He saw the two flying at him and kicked Kevin and Florence out of the way and controlled the grass below to steal its water and shoot at Hana. In response, the evil woman stole water from a tree as it disassembled and she made the water circle her like a wheel and the water blasts both exploded on contact.
“Shade, look out!” yelled Kevin, pulling out his sword and swinging at Shade.
(A/N: Yes, you get a sword Kevin.)
“It’s like my brain has a mind of its own! Stop it arms, stop it!” Kevin continued to complain. Shade simply controlled a circle of water from the grass to surround him. Shade moved around in a twirl and pushed Kevin out of the way with the water.
“This feels weird!” added Florence as he was trying to hit Shade. He ducked and hit Florence into a tree, covered Flo’s body with the water, and froze it over.
“I’m sorry, Florence!” Shade told her.
“It’s okay!” Shade looked back at Kevin, who was swinging at him more. He controlled water from a tree to come out and hit Kevin’s wrist that had the hand holding his sword. The water froze over Kevin’s wrist on another tree across from where Florence was stuck on the spot.
“Don’t hurt your friends, Shade, and don’t let them hurt each other!” Hana yelled as she moved her arms across from each other, breaking the two out of their ice trap.
“AAHH!!!” Florence and Kevin both yelled as they flew at each other.
“NO!” called out Shade, but suddenly the two stopped moving and turned to Hana. On her back was a water star that kept her stuck in place. The old lady started groaning slowly as Shade looked at her with wide eyes and he controlled Shade into a rested position. Toph, Raffi, and the villagers who were stuck inside the mountain cave were now running up and putting chains on Hana.
“You’re going to be locked away forever.” one of the men said.
“My work is done…” Hana quietly said to him, “Congratulations, Shade. You are a star controller!” Shade shot his hand to his mouth and small tears streamed down his face, “Hahahahahahah, hehe hahahaha…” was the final and very evil laugh of Hana. Florence was holding onto Shade as he started to look up at the cursed full moon that shined bright in the night.

I tried to do a Halloween fan-fic that wasn’t like other ones and had kind of a creepy ending. Either way, please leave nice comments, I spent a lot of time on this and it was fun for me to work on. *I love being mean to Shade* XDD
