Wow, Awsome review Kel! Thank you for much encouragement in the story, and for showing me that these last 15 chapters have been worth the time writing ^_^
This new part may possibly be the shortest chapter yet, but it is needed and really helps move the story along. You get to start to see some of the mystery characters skill, and mind set, as well as some of his history. I hope you will enjoy it as much as the rest ^_^ -------------------------------------
Mercenary Ch. 16 Survivor?
Jake walked down the sidewalk with Trixie and Spud after another day of school, “Yo Dudes! Rotwood don’t know what he talking ‘bout when it comes to magical creatures!” “That maybe Jakey, but you know’n da truth about em aint make’n you pass the class.” Spud turned to Jake, “Yeah man, your passen that class about as good as a semi passes a dump truck in a one car alley… or somethin like that.” Spud started to scratch his head. Jake looked down irritated as he walked. “Yo Jake boy, you wanna hit da skate park wit us?” He looked at the both and smiled, “Sure, I don’t have to go to the shop till tomarrow.” They jumped on their boards and started down the side walk.
As Jake skated he suddenly got the feeling that every thing was moving at an incredibly slow rate. The noise of the traffic, of the city, and of the world seemed to quiet as he skated past a young man dressed in black, wearing an odd smile upon his face, then he heard the voice which seemed to speak straight to him in his mind, “I have viewed you with Haku.” Jake continued to move in what seemed to be slow motion, “What? How are you talking to me?” The voice seemed calm and low spoken, “I wish to know where Haku is and that is all.” “Well, to bad. I don’t know where he is.” The voice in his head gave out a slight chuckle, “Well Mr. Long, you have not been much of a help to me after all. I am sure that we shall meat again.” The voice stopped and the world seemed to flash back to normal. Jake quickly stopped and turned around. The dark dressed boy walked slowly down the street smiling, and walking with his eyes shut. “Trixie walked up behind him, “Yo Jakey, what up?” “Noth’n.” He jumped back on his board and they continued on their way.
Rose walked to the front of a large building, her new home, and Huntsclan lair. She reached for the door handle but then heard the noise and commotion of the world cease. She looked around and saw everything moving slowly, then she too heard the soft kind voice, “Huntsgirl, do you know the whereabouts of Haku?” She looked quickly around her, wondering how this voice knew her true identity, “Who is this!?” “I am an old friend of Haku’s and have been looking for him for sometime.” Rose looked down the street and saw a boy in all black, with long tied back black hair walking away from her, but not in slow motion as every thing else moved. “I do not know where Haku is, nor would I tell you if you did.” Another chuckle came from the boy, “I guess I shall track him down myself.” The world went back to normal and Rose watched as the boy disappeared down an alley, “Should I follow him?... No, I should tell the Huntsmaster” She ran inside and shut the door behind her.
Lao Shi and Fu were the next to have an encounter with the mysterious character. They sat in the shop looking through some magical books and manuals. The chim on the door rang signaling a customer had come into the store. Lao Shi didn’t look up from the book, “Sorry, we are on lunch, come back in 30 minutes.” He then felt the same effects as had the others as the voice began to speak in his mind, “Would you please tell me where I can find Haku?” Lao Shi slowly looked up as the voice spoke. The boy stood in front of him, smiling as he kept his eyes shut. He rested his left arm on the handles of a katana and wakizashi. Lao Shi slightly opened his jaw in shock. “I ask again Lao Shi, where is Haku?” “We do not know where Haku stays. He appears when he wishes.” The young man bowed slightly then turned around ready to exit when Lao Shi spoke up, “I can not let you get into a fight with him, not at this time.” He stopped, “Lao Shi… You know what happens to all which oppose me.” A flash of the boy instantly slashing apart Lao Shi shot through his mind and he shut his eyes, “I may not be able to stop you, but Jake will.” The boy smiled blissfully as he walked from the store, “That is what thousands before you have though, and that was what Haku thought the day he destroyed our clan.” ----------------------------------------------------
Yeah, it was short, I know. I hope you did enjoy it though. I would again love to hear and comments, and or criticisms. I would love some more reviews like Kel's as well, and if you would like to see the story grow, spread the word of it ^_^ I love to have larger crowds read my fics, or well ummm, fic. lol
But anyway, I hope you enjoyed the newest chapter, be sure to check back for when more of the new characteris revieled. Though some of you may know some about him if you have read my other story Assassin <.< >.> hint, hint...

Well, here it is, the newest chapter! I hope you all enjoy it!
---------------------------------------------------
Mercenary Ch. 17 We Meet Again.
The next day Jake jumped off of his skate board as he got to the shop door after school. He walked in and threw his stuff to the side, “Yo Gramps! You in here?” Lao Shi walked out of the back room and went to the counter, “Jake, I must tell you something” “Yo Gramps, me first. Yesterday I was like going to the skate park with Trix and Spud and this guy, he was all like, you know where Haku is, and I was like” “Jake, you must listen to me. The same boy of which you speak came here as well. I fear something terrible is going to happen young one.” Fu walked in and tossed an old book onto the table, “Hey, I finally found something about this guy, well… Kind of. I got this book from the market, kind of an old one.” He opened the book up and dust rose from it’s pages, “It says here that the cause of the Dark Mountain Clan’s civil war was due to a split between the members of whether the destruction of all creatures was the only way to bring peace to the world or not. All of the clan members dressed about the same, the only difference was that the leaders of the clan had the black spike markings under their eyes. The leaders were the most ruthless of the clan.” Jake looked at Fu, “Both Haku and this new guy have the claw markings under their eyes, so were they both clan leaders?” “Yeah, my guess is that they were both leaders of separate halves of the clan during the war, and now their about to settle things in the NYC.” Lao Shi looked solemnly at Jake, “You have defeated Haku once and I feel that that was only due to his mental state at the time. I feel the power of this new arrival may even surpass that of Haku. I do not know if you will have the power to defeat him, or them both if you must.” Jake laid his head down on the counter, “Aw Man!”
Rose bowed down before the Huntsmaster, “Master, there seems to be some one in the city looking for Haku.” He looked down at her, “What do you mean? What did this person look like?” She continued to bow, “He dressed almost the same as Haku, though he acted nothing like him.” “How did he act differently?” “He seemed… to happy. He had a smile across his face the whole time he talked to me.” The Hauntsmaster got a bit upset, “What do you mean, he talked with you?” She looked up at him, “Well, not really. He spoke to me… in my mind.” The Huntsmaster put his hand to his chin, “Hmmm… It seems that this boy has quite a bit of power to him, maybe we can use this to our advantage.” He smirked slightly. “If we get this boy to destroy Haku for us, we may be able to get rid of him at the same time. He would probably be very weak from the fight. We could crush them both at once, then we would have only to deal with the American Dragon!” Rose bowed back down, “Yes my master!” She stood and walked from the room.
Huntsgirl and six other huntsmen stood on the roof of a building. The sun had just set but the sky was still glowing from it’s hidden rays. Huntsgirl stood on the roof holding her spear tightly knowing the Haku would soon be there, he always was. The Huntsmen patrolled the roof keeping any eye out for him. One of the Huntsmen walked to the ledge and looked off, he thought he had heard something from below. A long chain flew up and wrapped around his neck, he tried to yell but couldn’t. The chain pulled him off the edge of the building and he hit the ground with a thud. Huntsgirl looked in the direction he had fallen, “Be on guard men, he is here!”
Haku jumped up the side of the building and landed on the edge. He stood up and held a kusura kama in his hand. (a kama with a long chainor rope attached to the handle with a heaved weight attached to it.) He looked as the guards cam closer to him, “I do not see the American Dragon here, or any other magical creatures for that fact, so this must be a trap special for me, correct?” The Huntsgirl stood behind the Huntsmen, “You are correct in that notion Haku, but it will not be us which will kill you.” He threw the Kama and swiped it across the guards with the chain, then pulled it back and grabbed it. He had done it all in one smooth motion and now watched as blood dripped from the blade. The Huntsmen fell to the ground holding their wounds. “You are correct Huntsgirl, it will not be you which kills me.” The Huntsgirl stepped back slightly as Haku took a step towards her.
Haku held onto the chain of the Kama and swung it in a vertical circle to his side. He then threw it towards Huntgirl quickly and slashed both of her legs. She dropped her spear and fell to her knees holding onto the cuts. Haku walked up to her holding the kama by its handle, “You will not escape this time.” He raised the kama into the air as he stood in front of her. She shut her eyes tightly and looked down, awaiting the deadly strike of the blade. Haku swung down quickly but stopped millimeters from her neck when he heard the voice.
“It is just like you Haku, to be distracted before giving out the final blow.” Haku turned around quickly with a look of shock on his face as he saw the young boy standing before him, dressed in the attire of the Dark Mountain Clan. “You! How can you be here!?” The boy stood on the ledge and smiled with his eyes closed, “I have been looking for you for quite some time my dear friend Haku.” He gave a slight laugh. Haku got a look of anger in his eye, “Kashi” The boy smiled as he took a few steps forward, “And here I thought you may have forgotten about me after all of this time.” Haku held the kama up in front of him as he watched Kashi, “I could never forget one such as you. You are the scourge of the earth!” Kashi continued to smile as he drew the katana at his side. “What do you intend to do with that? Would you really attack a long lost friend such as I?” Haku threw the kama at Kashi with frightening speed. The kama dropped to the ground as Haku got a look of surprise on his face. Kashi stood directly to his side and held the blade of his sword to Haku’s neck, “You always were incredibly slow my friend.” Haku jumped back and away from the blade as Kashi laughed again.
The Huntsgirl grabbed her spear and watched the two, “Now I let them destroy each other. Though, I can not finish the mission with these wounds.” She used the spear and teleported from the roof. Kashi looked over to where she had been and then looked back to Haku, “You should have finished her off Haku. You should have spilt her blood across this very roof.” He continued to smile.
Haku looked around and then grabbed a smoke bomb from his kimono, “Though I would take great pleasure in destroying you now, I must decline this fight for the time being!” He threw down the smoke bomb and disappeared. Kashi watched and made no attempt to stop him, “Yes my friend, have one last day of life. I shall meet with you again, and this time I will make you feel the pain and suffering which I owe you for my childhood.” He laughed again, and never lost his smile.
-------------------------------------------------
Well there you have it! I have put Kashi into the story. I am basing him off the character from my story assassin, the character which I have aquired my name from. Yeah, he is kind of mad at Haku for some things, and he maybe just a bit to happy for some one with his kind of past, though don't let his happy apperence and blissfull attitude fool you ^_^
I hope to here some comments about the newest chapter. Anything I need to change? Any criticisms? I just want to hear what every one thinks about the story so far!

Mercenary Ch. 18 Psychotic Mind.
The following day was sunny and warm out in the city streets. Birds were flying about the skies and the sounds of life were all about. It was just shortly after noon as Kashi sat in the shad of a tree in Central Park. His swords lay next to him on the soft grass as he leaned his back against slightly rough bark. He held his dark blue grey eyes shut and wore a soft smile on his face. The gentle touch of his hand slid slowly across the dark green grass as a bird fly past his smiling face. His shut eyes slightly followed the bird as it glided in the air. Kashi then reached out his left hand allowing the bird to fly forward and perch upon his finger. He brought the bird closer to his shut eyes and mysterious smile and watched as it chirped and tilted its head sideways at him. Kashi then released it into the air and stood slowly after picking up his blades.
Kashi walked down a path through the park, his zori sandals scuffing the dirt as he walked. He kept his head tilted down and continued to keep his eyes shut. The smiled stayed plastered upon his face as he walked towards an exit from the park. Kashi walked through the black gateway and across the street to an alleyway.
The tall buildings blocked the suns rays as he proceeded, slowly darkening his path. After several turns he came across three ogres rummaging through a dumpster. He looked up with his shut eyes just as the ogres stopped their task and turned towards him. He continued to smile as two more ogres approached from behind him. One ogre gave a crooked smile and walked up to him. He looked him over and spit off to the side, “Hmmm… Looks like we got a wimpy samurai wannabe here.” He gave a slight chuckle and looked to one of the ogres behind Kashi, giving him a slight nod. The other ogre came up behind him and pushed him, causing Kashi to stumble past, who seemed to be the lead ogre. The ogre calling the shots reached into his pocket and pulled out a switchblade, clicking the button and flipping out the blade. Kashi put his hands into the air, the smile still on his face and his eyes still shut, “Whoa, no need for this my friend.” The ogre walked up to him with the same crooked smile, holding the knife up at Kashi’s eye level, “Those are some nice swords you’ve got there. Seems like they should be payment enough for us to spare your life.” The others laughed as their leader moved the knife from side to side.
The leader walked up to Kashi and held the knife up to his eye level, “You just took the wrong turn down the wrong alley in the wrong city.” He laughed to himself and reached out towards Kashi’s swords, “A young guy such as you won’t be needing these, you might cut yourself.” Just as he was about to touch the sword handle he stopped and Kashi placed a hand on his shoulder with a smile, “The others shall meet the same fait as he which leads them.” The other four ogres looked at each other in confusion before looking back at their leader, his hand still out as if grabbing for the blade. Kashi looked at them with his kind face as the ogre before him fell to the ground. Kashi stood smilling, the heart of the dead ogre resting in his hand, removed quicker then the eyes of his opponents could see.
The others looked from Kashi, to their boss, then back to Kashi. He gave a kind and innocent chuckle, “There is no need for a sword to be used on those such as you. I shall now take your life energy and use it as my own.” He continued to smile as he pulled the heart to his mouth and bit into it. Screams rang out through the alley, but only for a few seconds.
A few hours later Kashi sat silently upon the ledge of a tall building, blood lightly speckled his cheerful face. He watched with his shut eyes as another bird flew past, “Do not worry my dear friend Haku. We shall meet again soon enough, and soon enough you shall be killed.” He leaned back and watched as the sun set, it’s rays setting the sky ablaze in orange and red fire. “Hmmm… your friend Jake seems to be a curious oddity as well. I can’t wait for my chance to fight him!” He laid upon the roof, arms behind his head and eyes shut, smile across his face, “I shall bring good to this world, and shall set free all those which oppose our clan, by liberating them from this deep well of chaos known as life.” Kashi lay there as the sun set, his swords resting next to him, “The American Dragon Jake Long… How I wish to see you…”
------------------------------------------------
Well I hope you have enjoyed this most recent of chapters. I know it was a bit dark, but I hope you enjoyed it none the less. I hope to hear all of you wonderfull feedback, and I hope to come up with chapter 19 soon. What will happen when Kashi and Haku battle? What will happen between Kashi and Jake? What plan will the Huntsclan conspire upon next? Will the rabbit ever get some Trix!? Find out the answers to some of these questions in chapters soon to come ^_^

Awesome! you are really building the character of kashi quite well. And, there is the classic (yet somewhat stereotypical) muggers trying to kill someone much more eviler and powerful then them. Classic. Lol i haven't seen one of these since I watched an Indian black and white movie.

It's been a long time since I've visited these forums, but have recently once again started to. I sat and re-read my entire story and feel a need to add more to it, add more untill it's finished. It may take a while, but I really want to see this through. So for everyone that's still out there, here is the next chapter in my story Mercenary, enjoy ^.=.^

Mercenary Ch. 19 They Meet.
The sun rose slightly into the sky as Jake’s alarm went off. He batted at his dresser for a few moments until he found his clock and turned it off. He sat up and yawned while stretching out his arms. “Man, I’m so tired.” Jake slowly got out of bed and took a shower before getting dressed and going down to breakfast.
He sat at the table and chatted with his parents and Haley while he ate. “Hey mom, I’m going to go hang out with Trixie and Spud for a while at the skate park after school, ok?” His mom smiled at him. “Okay honey, just don’t be late for dinner this evening.” Jake got up and grabbed his backpack. “Don’t worry mom, I won’t be late.” He grabbed his skateboard and went out the door before jumping on it and heading down the street.
“Man, seems like it’s starting to get cooler out these mornings.” He turned a few corners and then had a slight eerie chill run up his spine. “Hmmm… something just doesn’t feel right…” He began to look around and then stopped and jumped off of his skateboard. He stood still for a few minutes while he continued to look and listen to the streets around himself. “Yo man, this is kind of creepy now.” There where cars on the street, but nobody in them. There weren’t even people on the sidewalks. Jake yelled out, “Hey! Yo, is there anybody out there?” He waited and listened to the silence that responded.
Jake was starting to get worried and pulled out his cell phone. “I’ll call Gramps, maybe there’s some parade or something I’m missing. Maybe some kind of holiday.” He started dialing Lao Shi’s number but stopped midway through. He had a strong feeling that he was being watched. Jake looked up at the sky which was quickly clouding over with thick black storm heads. It was at this point that he heard the voice in his head. It was soft, and calm, and almost nice, “So you are Jake Long, the American Dragon.” Jake spun around and started looking out in all directions but could see nobody else anywhere. “You were able to defeat Haku… and just a boy… You must have some tremendous power, have you not?” Jake turned one last time and saw the new comer walking slowly towards him in the middle of the road. Jake yelled out to him, “Yeah! I beat him before, and if you want to start some trouble with the Am Drag, I’m sure I can do the same to you pal!” The figure continued walking towards him slowly as he laughed. “There is no doubt in my mind that you are strong young dragon… but there is also no doubt in my mind that you would have no chance in a fight against one such as I.” Jake clenched a tight fist before yelling again, “Well why don’t you come over here and put your money where your mouth is, huh?” The voice continued speaking in his mind calmly and happily, “Would you like to know what I think young dragon? I think that you have your own doubts about the battle you had with Haku… I think that you don’t think you could have won unless Haku was in his unstable mental state at that time… As a matter of fact I think you were pretty sure he would have cut you… and all of your friends down if he had been at full capacity.”
Jake tightly clenched his fists as the figure of Kashi stopped walking just feet in front of him. Jake looked right at Kashi’s smiling face, right into his softly shut eyes. “Heh… you don’t seem that tough, definitely not like from the stories I’ve heard about you... In fact, you look kind of scrawny.” Jake gave a slight chuckle, “What, a few centuries not enough time to work out in?” Jake walked up to Haku so that they were almost face to face. “I already defeated one of you, so don’t think that I can’t do it again my friend. Jake smirked slightly to himself. Kashi spoke to Jake once again in his head, “Young dragon… I admire your fortitude… Though the way you talk could have very easily gotten you killed in centuries past.” Jake continued to smirk as he talked, “Yo, but this aint the past no more, and the are strong people like me around to make sure that things like that don’t happen, ya hear!”
Kashi gave a slight bow to Jake, “So… you aren’t going to cause any problems then Kashi?” Just after Jake ended his sentence Kashi rapidly drew his katana, hitting its handle into Jake’s gut and then cracked him in the back of his head with an elbow strike. Jake’s face smashed into the asphalt before he collapsed on the ground for a few moments. Kashi held his sword out and down at Jake, he never once lost his cheerful appearance or attitude. “Young dragon… I am going to do all I want to this Earth, and this city, and especially to Haku… If you wish, you can try and stop me… but it would be an absolutely grave mistake…” Jake coughed up blood onto the ground while Kashi sheathed his blade. “Look around at this street young dragon… there are none of the inferior human species here… this is how we could make the entire world.” Jake slowly looked up, blood and tears of pain running down his face. “What… did you do to the people here Kashi…” Kashi walked close to Jake and whispered cheerfully into his ear. “I did to them what any animal higher on the food chain would have done… I ate them…” Kashi then kicked Jake in the ribs, causing him to fly backwards from the road, down an alley, and finally smashing into and denting a large city dumpster.
Jake lay hurt and bleeding in the alleyway as the sky continued to darken and rain. He spit out some blood before looking up at the falling rain. “I think the NYC is about to see some dark times… Awww Man…”
------------------------------------------------------------
I'll try to update again later, but hope everyone will enjoy this new installment in the series. That you everyone for all of the fee back I've recieved through out this writting. Things now seem to be building in the NYC for Jake.
