recently, i saw an artical on the (i belive it was FOX, im not entirly sure) news. this REALLY upset me.
a make-shift boarding stable in philladelphia was recently shut down, due to complaints about the care of the horses by the neighbors. apperently they have been complaning for decaides.
the horses were keept in neglected conditions. the area where they where keept was never picked out (been cleaned of manure), and since there were too many horses in a small space, the manure never got a chance to decompose befor the grass could grow.
the water and hay was never changed, the hay gew moldy, and the water was infested with algie and misqueto larve. these horses have not seen a ferrier (a person who cares for the horses feet, a horses hoove is like a fingernail, it constantly keeps growing, and needs to be trimmed every 4-6 weeks, otherwise, they start to curl upwords, witch can cause the horse to become lame. ) in a matter of years, nor have they seen a vet. these horses where obviously not wormed, and very skinny.
a horse carcus was found on the property. with the other horses.
the ASPCA sezed these horses, and shut down the stable. yet some people trusted the caretakers with there horses.
Quote form one of the boarders at the stable:
"well, my horse is fine! hes about 1200-1300 pounds, hes in fine condition!"

Z's PERSONAL rant about this starts here: (fyi, i have been riding for over 5 years, and discussed this with my trainer. she was appauled, i know what im talking about, ok?)
OK, first of. i would like to point out that the boarder witch was qouted earlier, was a black (im not racest, belive me) Philladelphian from the "getto", and honestly knew NOTHING about horses.
a horse dose not weigh 1200-1300 pounds, unless you have an over-weight 16.3+ hands high horse (horses are measured in hands, 1 hand = 4 inches).
My horse is 15.2, and only weighs around 950. and just because the horse "appears" to be at a good weight, dose not mean that they are healthy.
second, if theses people where to keep these horses, they should learn some god damn resposibiliy, i cannot tell you how angry that makes me! this is comming from a horse owner, you guys might not understand my love for these absolutly grougous creatures.
when i purchased my horse, i came up as much as i possibly could. when she got injured. i came up everday, even twice a day, to give her her medication. sometimes late at night, around 11:00, so i could space out her time between doses.
i STILL go up everyday while shes lame, just to make sure shes OK. if im unsure, i cant sleep at night. shes my life <3
seriously, if I can take care of my horse like a queen, other people should too. these animals are just to amazing for words, and abusing these animals really hurts me.
*sigh* ok end rant.
what do you guys think?
