I herd not too long ago that the V-22 Osprey VTOL aircraft costed thousands of lives and is already on its way to Iraq. That doesnt make sense. I hope I remembered that article right. A new plane from Boeing came out too. A replacement for the previous 747, with two-store cabin, lengthened wings and engines, and stronger landing gear. You can see I pay too much attention to aviation news

Please remember to put sources for this board, it maintains the integrity of the post.
I am especially interested to hear about this new Boeing, but I cant seem to find any info on it.

I found out this stuff on the news . I don't know really if the 747 replacement is an intirely different model with a different designation or just another version of the 747 with a different designation and other stuff. All I know is that it was the first story on the news channel, whatever channel that was . About the V-22, I herd that on the news and Time Magazine (2007). I cant find that darn issue anywhere! The same thing happened to my International Combat Arms magazine. I think my house is haunted or something. Oh, and does anyone know if the International Combat Arms magazine is still around? You know, still active? .

2009 ?! I hate waiting long times.
You know, I also herd in Popular Science that the Sky Hotel is comming around that time. The Sky Hotel is a big hotel/transport 10 times the size of the Airbus. It is the worlds biggest aicraft that hovers on strong but soft air cussions. It is said that it will replace previous sky transports, and rides will cost A LOT MORE than regular 747 flights. Cant wait to see the prototype!

It's a new aircraft design that takes advantage of the advances in carbon fiber technology, and new engines to greatly decrease its fuel usage. There is also a new variant of the 747 cargo aircraft, but that is not designed to carry passengers. The 787 specs can be found here. Also, the V-22 has killed a total of 30 people so far, not the thousands that are claimed. That design is too much too fast.

I knew that a new cargo variant was coming out, but wasn't aware of the 747-8 passenger variant.

About those aircrafts, hmm, interesting. But sorry for the crash. Somehow, I wish carrying cargo would be like the C-130 Hercules, but it's only used for the military.

The Groen Brothers are coming out with a new heliplane design. It is the Gyrodine Firefighter. A heliplane is sort of like an autogyro (half plane half helicopter). Here is a picture:

Wow, more like a design inspired by the A-10 Warthog.

I found some info on a Russian project by the Mil company, the Mil Mi-32 flying crane. A project of the heavy flying crane helicopter with a take-off weight of 140 tons intended for transporting civil and military technics in Siberia. Not built. -- V.Miheev "Mil MVZ - 50 years", 1998There is no info yet on wheather Russia re-opened the project or perminantly ceased it in the late 1980s.

3 rotors? That's beating the American Chinook already.
