This is probably a mistake posting this, given the closed-mindedness of a lot of the people on this forum (more specifically the ones who don't know how to correctly form a proper sentence), I also know that this is probably a little premature since the presidential elections aren't being held for over a year, and I'm sure a lot of peoples' opinions will change, buuuut..... Let's get a presidential thread going, mk? ;D I won't be old enough to vote by the time the elections take place next year (I'll only be 17) but my opinions on this election are VERY strong, and if I had the opportunity to vote in this election you bet your sweet behind I would. Who would I vote for? A man in the running for Democratic candidacy named Dennis John Kucinich. There is nothing about this man that I don't like. He has the most...unbelievable platform I've seen out of all the (democratic) candidates for the 2008 presidency. I have nothing against Hillary and Obama, but they just don't appeal to me very much. (I'm not mentioning any Republican candidates because I haven't been keeping up with any of them, not to shove my beliefs down anyones' throats, but I would never vote for a Republican.) Here is part of Kucinich's platform, taken from an article on him from Wikipedia... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_KucinichThe main points I like are.... Pulling the troops out of Iraq.I'm 100% behind this. He has a 12-step plan for it, which can be seen in the Wikipedia article Legalizing same-sex marriage. Not only do I believe it should be our RIGHT to be able to marry who we want, but...what kind of gay guy would I be if I didn't like this? xD Strengthening gun control.I go both ways on this subject. He wants to ban the sale and possession of all handguns, which I totally support....but quite a lot of crooks get guns illegally anyway, so this wouldn't effect them unless they got caught with them. Environmental renewal and clean energy.Eco-friendly. I love that. If I still smoked weed, I'd be behind him and his fight to stop the war on drugs (by legalizing marijuana), but since I HAVE stopped, I don't really care about that. If it happens, it happens. There is nothing I don't like about him. He is a vegan, is desperate to change the environment, and judging by his platform I'd say this guy is all about world peace. I can't wait till he comes to St. Louis for a campaign rally. I'm so there ^_^ So what are your thoughts on the presidential election of 2008? Discuss them here :D

Wow! Both extremes. I would love to vote for Tancredo, but he just doesn't have the necessary name recognition to beat the pantsuit. My priorities are (In order) Borders, War on terror, sensible health care, pro 2nd amendment (as intended by the founders), and constructionist interpretation, and minimal government. My most likely vote will be for either Romney or Fred, but the water's still muddy.

Hmm, since I'm not from the US, I'm not familiar with them except Bush and Kerry. Since Bush cannot continue (And near to receive war crime fines from many other politicians, such as I know from Castro from Cuba and Mahathir from Malaysia) in a 3rd term, and Kerry is no longer eligible for it, so, game over, no votes from me.

Sorry for being off here, well, in the newspaper I read, Bush has committed war crimes for the invasion in Iraq that is. Castro said he may spark WW3 (Yahoo! News), and Mahathir said he committed war crimes for the invasion that is (Malaysia's The Star). Bush is more like a madman to me, even blaming the Congress won't make much of a difference as many blames the President rather than the Congress.

We did go to Iraq for war, but not to win, but simply to help the Iraqi's, and this country was formed not by kicking Britain's ass in the Revolutionary war, but by declaring independence, and taking ideas from the Magna Carta, and creating the Constitution. THAT'S how the country was made ;D

God may say that, but there are people who don't believe in god or what he says, if it is a sin, then it's a sin to those who follow him. Not to the one's who want it.There's no problem with it, it's just how people want it to be. People have defied god since Adam and Eve, if it were true.

*clears throat* PEOPLE WITH GUNS DO NOT SHOOT WILLY-NILLY.
If people with guns are illegals, then me and my dad are illegals? Thanks a million....

Everyone deserves an education, nobody should be deprived of an education. People only work for a education when they go to college, or a private school, or some fancy prep school. So, if you don't really work for YOUR education, then you don't deserve one....right?
Anyone even READ or Listen in history class? And what America is about?
1. History class = crap that happened a while back. You want Social Studies.
2. Yes, I do pay attention.
3. America is about democracy, and how everyone has the free will to do what they feel, it gives many immigrants the chance to begin a new life, away from communism and other governments they see unfit. The way YOU think of america is that no illegal deserves to be here, yes, they may be here ILLEGALLY, but what difference does it make? They can get a job, and work, and live, like everyone else.
Those are just my [glow=red,2,300]OPINIONS[/glow].
My view on the presidentail election is leaning more on the Obama side, he's a good man, and he's making the right choice to get the soldiers out of Iraq, they did their job of cleaning up, they just need to come back.

My view on the presidentail election is leaning more on the Obama side, he's a good man, and he's making the right choice to get the soldiers out of Iraq, they did their job of cleaning up, they just need to come back. Just a couple of points. First, since when did the US become the world's frikkin' sugar daddy. My tax money not only goes to support our self-serving bureacrats and politicians, but a host of people who feel that they deserve to be in the US, but not have to follow any customs or laws that are made. Immigration is controlled for a reason, namely that uncontrolled immigration results in increases in population that does not desire to contribute to the fabric of american society, but merely attempts to leech off its side. (I am not stating that all immigrants are leeches, but a large percentage desire handouts that IMHO, should not even be given to most american citizens. You know, those people who have shown their willingness to work with America. Also, where in the constitution is it stated that there is a right to free (at its face) publik educashun, or even worse, health care. Public education has been a farce over the past 40 years, and nothing that has been enacted to supplement this education has helped. There is a huge amount of reasons that this is the case, ranging from the fact that public education is forced on everyone to the fact that even the most incompetent teacher takes a lot to get fired. Do Not get me started on health care. No man in the US is without access to medical care. Life saving procedures do not require preapproval from the insurance company if you need them immediately, and insurance will often cover procedures after they have been performed if they were medically necessary. Lack of health insurance (read "free" health care) is not a crisis. I am an EMT for my town. If someone wishes to be transported to a hospital, we will transport them, no payment related questions asked. The hospitals are also legally required to see them. Finally, I thing I can clarify what Star2b said re: gun control. I think they were bringing up the fact that outlawing guns has not decreased handgun crime. Criminals do not purchase and register their firearms, and if one desires to kill a person, there are a multitude of methods that can be used to kill them. Try reading John Lott for a more in depth view of the true effects of gun control and CC permits.

Personally, I'm all for McCain. Some people complain that he's to old but I find that an important aspect. With age one becomes wise. He himself has been in war, even a prisoner of war. For the was on Iraq i feel he will make a very good choice since he knows what it feels like to be a soldier in battle, but also how it feels if someone dies with nothing to gain.
Wow, I can't believe I'm not chanting Nader right now, WHY LORD IS HE NOT RUNNING XDDD

While I am not old enough to vote yet, I fully support republican candidate Rudy Giuliani. Compared to the other candidates, he seems to be the only one "down to earth." He already has experience in a leadership role; He served as the mayor of New York for two terms. He was one of the main driving forces that helped organize firefighter and rescue teams during and after 9/11. Here are three reasons why I like Rudy: [li]He understands the importance of border security. [/li][li]He understands the importance of education for our youth. [/li][li]And he understands that we need to remain diligent in our efforts on the war on terror. [/li][/ul] Those are 3 of his 12 commitments. Hes proven that he can do what he promises when he was Mayor of New York. If I was 18 he'd get my vote. XD PS: Hillary Clinton is the anti-christ. XD
