I understand the overcrowding of prisons is a problem, but I doubt that it would result in having to have to build a prison every ten miles, that's a slight exaggeration, neh? Besides, not all prisoners are necessarily going to be trialed in their own country. In the cases of being caught trafficing drugs, you could be denied entrance back to your own country and simply be trialed where you were caught with the substance.
But if overcrowding is a problem, I don't see why they couldn't be shipped over to other countries to finish their sentence. Hey, it was done centuries ago when British convicts were shipped over to Australia.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is there are several countries out there that don't enforce the death penalty, yet don't seem to experience any of these problems you're mentioning.

Hey, if you (or another country) wants our prisoners, go right ahead! That's fine; we've got far too many in this area as is, believe me. ;D

I'm shocked nobody's sent them straight off to Alaska; we could go from population one to population -uncountable- But then again, we're a barren wasteland. =D

lol Well, it sure helped put Aus on the map. =D
Anyway, hile were on the matter of the death penalty being bad because it causes the prisons to be overcrowded, let's look at some of the ethical issues of keeping it enforced.
For example, the death penalty is irreversable. If the judicial systems make a mistake (which they all do), an innocent life is taken for now apparent reason. Also, the death penalty is incredibly discriminatory and often utilised unfairly against the poor, powerless and people who repressive governments want out of their way.
Plus, did you hear the about the woman in the Middle East who was gang raped and then received the death penalty for 'commiting' adultery? Seriously, you can't tell me that was justified.

^ true this wasn't. But against terrorists I think that it's more than justified.

But terrorists go and kill themselves to make the civilised world recognise they exist (And scare us). Doesn't the death penalty to these terrorists (which will be spread all over the world's media) achieve the goal all the same?

^ true this wasn't. But against terrorists I think that it's more than justified. But that's the problem, so long as the death penalty exists there are going to be people that abuse their use of it.

I think that if you KNOW 100% that the person committed the crime (nothing based on assumption, or saying "I did it" without evidence, or things like that) it should be used. Otherwise, like stated, there would be much overcrowding.
This mostly pertains to murderers, though. Nobody should live if they have killed another person.

^ yeah true. I'll agree at a reasonable using of Death sentence. If it's not that horrible ( stealin stuff & co) only prison but murder & rape & all these thing ==> Death
