i don't know where you get your numbers on the CS player basin, but its still one of their most played games, only reason why TF2 beats it right now is because TF2 is free. up un till TF2 went free CS was the most played game on steam.
prabibly the biggest cause of the lowering up updates was because of the age of the game and the fact that people are strewn about on 3 different versions of it right now. hopefully CS:GO will correct that dilution of players.

Before TF2 was free, it's a lot more fun. As for my numbers, I forgot where I got it from, but I got that news of it from last year, it's not valid alright, but that might be something.
As for the update wise, we'll see how it goes. Currently L4D2 is expecting to get a Midnight Riders comic, that's all I heard recently. Even still, TF2 still has a lot more.
Anyway, the phasing out I said can be a good reason, because if I were a game company, having my dev team to multitask multiple games is very very stressful. Although I'm not sure about Valve, but we'll see. But luckily, I have my high respects for them, second is to Blizzard. But don't bother on EA, they're no good and money wh0res anyways, even after acquiring PopCap (The guys who worked Plants VS Zombies), many gamers hated that move because they know EA is still nothing but an empire who only buys out competition, despite their CEO already forgive that move, gamers and myself don't buy that excuse. Remember how my favorite C&C franchise turned out in C&C4? It's all down to the EALA executives themselves, who are a$$holes to nothing but money and luckily I'm glad the original developers already moved on and establish their own companies.

for a time i was against the move to F2P but then i realized that i can blame everyone who sucks balls at the game as being a free loafer and i was happy again. =)
well i cant argue about splitting recesses not all ways being the best however i must say Valve dose a pretty darn good job with it. only flop/'not fantastic' game in 15 years from them was L4D2 and that was still a lot better than most stuff that releases.
also EA:LA's been known to do some stupid things, however in the past EA's European branch wasn't known for being stupid. however Crysis 2 and the omissions/requirements for BF3 recently have me questioning their logic.

I did that too LMFAO. Before I was going like "Hey learn to play you c*nt !", and now I got like "Go back to your mama F2P baby !" Concerning the rest I doubt that there will be a drastic decrease in updates for TF2 or L4D. TF2 keeps on getting new goods and stuff, and L4D wasn't a game who had a lot of updates already. They will indeed be a tad bit focused on DOTA2 and CS:GO but except that I doubt that there will be a lot of changes.

TF2 still stays strong and still fun to play, if the community likes it so much, Valve won't dare to abandon the game, they learned their lesson since the boycott.
Anyway, DOTA 2 may come first so let's see how it goes, if not, let's see if CS GO comes first.

Well on my side I had fun during Halloween on TF2 fighting Monoculus and collecting costume parts, even if the lack of helping romoother players has seriously toned the things down on my side >.>

Well, not me, my non-Steam edition of TF2 for some reason stop updating, so I don't have much to play with. But it's no point either as I saw the game was a little very addicting, so I have to control myself from playing the game. I can still wait until CS GO.

As according to some, TF2 is as overrated as Halo, so all the hats and costume are just for fun. And usually the youngsters will love them. Not to say I hate them, it's just I have more common sense to know is that it's only for show rather than doing any real function.

it doesn't take an intelligent person to know that half the reason why TF2 is good is because the hats are pointless. but it dose take an intelligent person to realize that they make the game more entertaining. the day i find something better than TF2 at eating my life, then maybe i will start to entertain the idea of it being over rated. till then. i should make this a spray

I remember the gameplay was awesome as well and it was quite addicting, as fun as Left 4 Dead itself. But I have to control myself since I'm now working and those games can make you go off course when it comes to time management.
