I always wondered if the show still can be saved. I know its been 6-years of since the last episode, but is it still possible for it to come back? What about Xiaolin Showdown, that show aired in 2003 but is returning in 2013 with the same type of animation style with only a few new voices. I really hope people dont give up that easily on it. Also, does anyone think this show should have been on cartoon network instead?

There's about a 0.1% chance of it coming back. To my understanding, Disney executives never liked it and had problems with the producers of the show. I've also heard that Disney likes to end stuff after 52 episodes anyway. In addition, the program was apparently not really wildly popular enough to warrant continuation, unlike ADJL's contemporary, Kim Possible. I think the "bad taste in the mouth" left from the bad animation and story lines of Season 1 probably didn't help the image of the program.
Should Jeff Goode have taken his pitch for the show to Cartoon Network or Nick? I think definitely. They wouldn't have gotten the flak from the producers for the violence, and they could have made it TV-PG for better action if they wanted to. Maybe he did pitch it to another network but they didn't accept it. Who knows.
The story arc for a continuation is definitely there, but I don't think anybody is interested.

*sign*.. i guess your right. It really sucks that the fact of it never coming back is true. I still really want a season 3 though.

In retrospect, I think Noble's right -- taking the show to CN or Nick probably would have been an ultimately better decision, ESPECIALLY if it was done now, with Nick's good track record. Who knows, it might have ended up more of an epic on Avatar levels.

It's good to have hope and I do for this show but I highly doubt it will ever come back. I would like to see it though maybe as suggested on CN or Nick but the story did end good with the last episode.

Noble hit every point i was going to write.
the last note that should be made though is the size of the fandom. in general its a good indicator of the popularity of a show, however what that tells me is that this shows dead. these forms are like a goast town and the YouTube channel that hosts all of the episodes isn't posting very good numbers... (as the owner of it, i get aces to some really good states on the fandoms health)
while we haven't hit rock bottom yet, not even HD is saving the states...

Noble hit every point i was going to write. You (and this forum) have tought me well on the study of ADJL's extinction. the last note that should be made though is the size of the fandom. in general its a good indicator of the popularity of a show, however what that tells me is that this shows dead. these forms are like a goast town and the YouTube channel that hosts all of the episodes isn't posting very good numbers... (as the owner of it, i get aces to some really good states on the fandoms health) while we haven't hit rock bottom yet, not even HD is saving the states... Maybe if we had more than up to 201-205 and 207 lol ^^. J/K But yeah, not much people are going to be tuning in to watch it, but I say that's fine because having it available and preserved in it's original 16:9 ratio in at least a decent 720p resolution is what's important. As long as mine and Clone's HDD's don't spontaneously die, that should be able to be accomplished.

well just polling the states, of the episodes up in HD and not, the SD copies are pulling 4x the views of the HD ones even though i added annotations to the SD ones saying we now have them in HD plus a link to them.
also the episodes are stored on 3 hard drives so it will take a fire or worse to rid me of the episodes.

It's weird how so many people never pay attention to the description and/or annotations on YouTube videos. Fireproof safe time!

As much as I hate to say it, I agree with the majority - I doubt it will come back. Which is a shame, really, given it didn't exactly end on a high note. IMO, the finale was rushed and lackluster, with a lot of things being left unresolved.

yeah, i almost feel like i might have been happier with the shows end if it had been Homecoming rather than Hong Kong Longs. maybe its just nostalgia or something talking though, the build up to Homecoming was epic while Hong Kong Longs was quite average.

Yeah, I too feel I was biased due to nolstagia. This was the first fandom I really got into. To the extent that I was joining forums, regularly posting speculations about the latest episode, and even making fanfiction and fanart devoted to it. I started watching it at about the age of fourteen or fifteen, and ultimately grew through my adolescence with it, making a lot of great friends along the way. Consequently, I was pretty disappointed by the way the show was just so abruptly ended.
I guess its also possible that my expectations for the final were too high for anything to live up to them, but even so, I still feel the effort put into it was pretty minimal. Especially compared to past episodes, or even the Season 1 final, which had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. It just wasn't even in the same league.
Hong Kong Longs had the potential of being a great episode, but they tried to cram in too many ideas that had been left to the last minute and couldn't fit them all because of time constraints. Maybe if they'd cut some of the unnecessarily filler episodes in Season 2, they could have made the transition work a bit more smoothly, and even explored a few areas that were barely touched upon. Did we even find out anything about Rose's twin, or was that plot-point just kind of ditched altogether? It's been awhile since I've last properly watched the show, so I can't really remember.
I became really attached to AD:JL after watching Season 1, almost religiously on a weekly basis when new episodes came out. As much as I hate to admit it, I was pretty upset by the inconsistencies brought about by the change of art style in Season 2. Even with the quality of episodes, in terms of plot, remaining more or less just as good as Season 1; if not, better; I still longed for the show to return back to these roots. So, I guess I can understand how that may have affected the show's popularity. I mean, I realise a lot of people actually grew to prefer the newer art style for different reasons, but personally, I was never really that fond of it... To each their own, I suppose.
EDIT: The Lilo & Stich series got picked up for an anime adaptation not that long ago. As unlikely as it may seem, I can't help but entertain the possibility that that could happen to AD:JL. It'd be pretty cool, IMO... Thinking about it though, Stitch also only had two seasons, so there may be a chance... Although, it did also have movies... Eh.

It is still very disappointing, because SuperRTL have shown the two seasons of American Dragon until today again. American Dragon is still promoted on Super RTLs advertising block and associated with Disney. I have originally planned to save the show with a combined petition websites capped with general informations and pictures for fans and maybe a discussion forum. But I am currently not able to pay the costs for programming this website. Maybe we can collect the money together when every fan who like is spending a part of the orginally planned 500 euros? Or what do you think of a film or DVDs?

The things is that due to the fact that ADJL is very mythology-based, it could go on for virtually forever, due to the vast amount of mythological material available in oriental and occidental countries. I also feel that it should have went on more because a lot of questions were left unanswered. The first ones that come to my mind as of now are as example : - Who created originally the Huntsclan and how did it become a such powerful organisation ? - What turned the Dark Dragon Evil ? -Who are Spud's parents ? -Who is Jake's grandma ? -Who are jake's paternal grandparents ? -When did the World Dragon Council first formed ?
I could go on for a freakin' long while about this, and it shows how much is left unanswered, and it could potentially be covered in several additional seasons, probably growing in maturity, kinda like in Naruto where he starts as a huge derp, but ends up being a pretty smart and wise guy, and IMO ADJL was going in the same direction.
So yeah, tl;dr, there's still a parcload of potential.
