fun fact, counselor Chang was at one point intended to be Jakes Grand Mother. however this was changed/removed per Disney channels request and some congruency issue that was never explained.
to the full topic... ADJL was the first show i had ever obsessed over on any level, and as can be attested to by my parents, i watched an episode every day, even when there were only 4 episodes total. (still have those HVS tapes) but while the first season got me to watch the show, the second season is honestly the only portion of the show that i can actually still stand to watch due to the writing of the episodes. I tend to bill the show as two separate entity's when talking about it as season 1 and 2 have two completely difference vibes from them not to mention season 2's phenomenal story lines and writing compared to the first seasons.
from where i stand, ADJL's popularly was already a whoping 0 out of 100 where i lived when it came to season 1. to be short, people hated it's writing. but in season 2, all the annoyances of season 1 were now no more, we weren't hearing "dragon up" 4 times an episode, the voice acting was better, the writing had vastly improved, and the animation vastly improved in fluidity. but because the show was still "American Dragon Jake Long" in title for its second season people never gave it a chance.
i do highly agree, my expectations for that last episode had skyrocketed to somthign that could never have been achieved. however it was still quite shoby compared to other episodes.

Darn, I'm not sure if I can remember way back to 2007 when the finale aired. I at least remember watching Season 1 episodes when they were coming out new, and I remember when season 2 came out with the different animation.

Man, I actually dismissed this show at first but decided to give it another chance and got really into it, only to find out that it's cancelled. The second season was such an improvement, it's such a shame we didn't get to see more. It wouldn't even be as bad if they'd used the filler episodes after "Homecoming" for plot development instead I just don't get Disney, cancelling the show just when the show actually gets better and better. I understand canceling a show when it's getting stale and tired but ADJL was just getting started I even tried looking for petitions or something but the best I could find was this It sucks because there's a lot of people who love the show, for example on forums I frequent, whenever there's a poll on favorite Disney cartoons, ADJL ends up high. Sigh But as someone said before if even fan forums are deserted there isn't much hope. I wonder if the people behind the show are even interested at all, after all these years. They're airing reruns on Disney XD in my country atleast, so it's not completely gone, in a way .

I just don't get Disney, cancelling the show just when the show actually gets better and better. I understand canceling a show when it's getting stale and tired but ADJL was just getting started Disney was canceling ALL of its cartoons at that time and was moving to an entirely slap stick comedy line up targeted at pre teen girls. (even a lot of their good live actions were ended) I even tried looking for petitions or something but the best I could find was this their were more, however they have fallen to utter obscurity or were taken down. But as someone said before if even fan forums are deserted there isn't much hope. I wonder if the people behind the show are even interested at all, after all these years. the best indicator of the health of a show its its fans, and ADJL, despite what i want to beleave, was always anemic. if you take the total registered members of this forum, the epicenter of fan activity, and compare it to other cartoons of the time. we were small... (even more so when you consider that only 1/10 of those were active throughout its life time)

In terms of registered members on our forum... while we were still small regardless, do bear in mind that some of the old staff found it necessary to delete inactive members and posts (still annoyed by that... ), so a lot of the members we had back in 2005-2007 that had stopped posting were deleted, making that number a lot smaller. Back while the show was going (especially 2006, as you might recall!), we were actually doing pretty well. I was over at one of the Kim Possible boards and we even had a little more activity in terms of show discussion than they did for awhile. Still suuuucks we had to go out after two seasons.

Well hope for the show might be dying out but I know I'll always have hope and enjoy this show. Disney always screws up with stuff, and ADJL is one of their major ones is ADJL being cancelled.

yeah, the deleting of old stuff was one thing that really bunged me about the old admins, didn't know they were deleting accounts too though.

Yeah, Floridian Dragon claimed it would make the forum go faster, or something like that. I was on a leave at that time so I didn't have the chance to be all, "What, REALLY?" I mean, plenty other Proboards forums bigger than ours never did that and go just as fast.
But whatever. Past is past.

I'm starting to obsess over this show again. haha. It was great. Ended way too soon. I will say Matt Negrete faved a tweet i sent him the other day. It was only the 4th tweet he has ever faved. I sent him a gif of Rose kissing Jake and tweeted "Jake and Rose Say Hi" twitter.com/MattNegrete/favoritesHe was hired to be a writer on The Walking Dead season 4 but at least he hasn't forgotten the Am Drag. If your curious. Here was the GIF. I have made a ton recently on tumblr.

Yeah I've heard Rose was supposed to stay in NYC with her memory erased. Damn that would've been amazing. Instead we got filler after filler until the last two episodes Disney did this show wrong By the way, my country stopped broadcasting reruns They've been airing the reruns for months so I'm not surprised. I don't think the show was ever popular here anyways, and it was also aired at an awful time slot (6 am). Can't believe the forum is actually somewhat active atm, who knew,

Hey I'm new here, but I think even after 6 years, the show can still be saved.
Scrolling through previous posts, it is easy to see not everyone here believes it can be done, but I'm a guy who takes the longshots against the odds. The only thing we really need to get the job done is some people, and I think I finally found some. (Believe it or not, a fanbase can be really hard to track down after 6 years)
I have a plan, but I need help. Right now I am working on phase 1, I do not plan on this working, but who knows. The main point of it is to gain everyone's attention, so if I could get help spreading this to other fans, it would help move things along. wh.gov/lgjmc

The fact that all 52 episodes are available on itunes tells me that there will always be a shred of hope left that if enough people download the episodes from itunes (I've already got 5-The Academy, Breakout, Dreamscape, Homecoming, and Hong Kong Longs) then maybe we might get a limited run 13-episode final season to wrap up whatever unanswered questions we have left. It's a long shot, but its worth a shot.

The thing I hope for and it is a new thrend going on now, but giving Disney is not on board with this thrend who know, is to coninute in comic form. I heard a bunch of 80's NBC shows are getting comic book adaptions. Why can't AmDrag. Look at the stuff that is on IDW, and Dark Horse Avatar comics. Disney did this once before with Gargoyles.
Our most realistic hope is continue in comics, I also hope similar contiuation for Sym Bionic Titan, which is actually more realstic since is not a Disney property.
