Second Punic War
Narrator: The time is dire for the Romans. One of the Carthaginian generals, Hannibal Barca, is on the march. He has obliterated every single army he has faced, after making a promise to his dying father on his deathbed. The Romans outnumber the Carthaginians by fourteen thousand men, yet they are afraid. Hannibal has under his command many elephants, which will wreak havoc on the unsuspecting Roman Legions. The Legions are tricked into marching over the river Trebia into the Carthaginian army's part of the battlefield, and rush into the phalanx of Poeni Phalangites. Little do they know, they are surrounded on both sides, by bloodthirsty Carthaginian cavalry clamoring for Roman flesh.
War story.
My name is Meharbel. I am one of the horsemen surrounding the Roman Legions. B*stards, they are. I forgot how much of an enemy they are to me. My father died in the first Punic War, killed by one of Rome's finest generals. Huh! Rome has no finess. I watched their Legions trudge through the snow. Perfect. How much pleasure it gave me to watch them struggle, many being slaughtered by our javelineers. Fools. They should use their shields, but no! The idiots. General Mago looked at me, his second in command. I respected him greatly. He was almost a replacement father, caring for me, giving me many promotions.
Soon, the horn blew, and we charged at the romans, slaughtering many. But the battle was far from over.....
LOOK FOR CHAPTER 2
this is part of the War Stories series. It will feature many battles, several of them famous like Somme or Verdun, or Stalingrad, or even some fictional ones like star wars and Lord of the Rings.
Right Now I am working on the War stories series called the RISE OF ROME. The second will be skipping to the Crusades, the third one to be presise. Then The American Revolution, the War of 1812 between Canadian Colonists and Americans. And then I will work on the WWI and WWII series, called the Rise of Modern Warfare, and to top it all off, a series called the Nuclear Era to finish it off. And I might do some others like Alexander the Great, Troy, Napoleonic Wars, the Hundred years war. etc
