It’s time to start my holiday fan-fic! Like my other ones, it’ll just be a one-shot, because I’m too busy with CU to make a longer Christmas fan-fic, even if I’d like to. Enjoyness! Oh, and this takes place before CU and before Hong Kong Longs.
Christmas One-Shot: Starry Night
“So you don’t want anything big for Christmas?” Jake asked Shade. They were all meeting up at Trixie’s house for a little event and Jake and Shade had to save an elf, so they were late.
“Two more days!” Shade breathed out before answering, implying that it was the 23rd, “Oh, and nah. As long as it snows soon, I’ll be fine.” They walked into Trixie’s home now.
“Hey guys!” Spud greeted.
“GET OUT OF THE WAY, TURN ON THE WEATHER!” yelled Shade, pushing Spud out of the way and sitting next to Florence, who was glued to the screen.
“Come on, at least snow the day ON Christmas!” pleaded the girl with the TV. They both sat back when the weather came on, making the others roll their eyes.
“Tomorrow should be cloudy and cold temperatures and look for a nice and sunny Christmas day!” the reporter announced and Trixie quickly turned off the TV before Shade and Florence would go crazy, but tears started streaming from Florence’s face.’
“I HATE GLOBAL WARMING!” she screeched before speeding off, making Trixie groan. Jake looked over at Shade.
“Are you crying?” he asked him.
“No, you are, shut up…” Shade muttered angrily and controlled his tears to go off his face and into the nearby sink.
“You know, you might be able to get the snow back.” Jake suggested to Shade after this weird comment he had made to him.
“Oh, how’s that?” wondered Trixie.
“Well, I know where Jack Frost lives and you can ask him to make snow here. But, you have to do something charitable to get the prize.” the American Dragon explained while writing Jack Frost’s information on a piece of paper and giving it to Shade.
“Oh wow, thanks, Jake!” he said with a smile, “Hey, tell Florence to come by my house at around 8ish.” with that, he left and ran into an alley before turning into his dragon form.
“Alright, I’m gonna check my mail.” Jake told Trixie and Spud before he went outside and got the stack of letters from his mailbox.
“Hey, look at all the mail!” pointed out Spud at the large stack of mail. Jake pulled out one letter that was red and green colored all over the envelope, addressed to Jake.
“Why did you only take that one?” Trixie wondered.
“Oh, I can tell what letters are Christmas cards from the family, this one’s new.” answered Jake and opened the letter. It read,
Dear American Dragon:
“Hey, don’t kick us out. We’ll just leave.” Spud quickly said with his eyes closed. He started walking to the door and smacked into the side of the door with his eyes still closed.
“Alright, Spud, we’ll take you to the doctor’s and then spend the rest of today together, maybe Christmas Eve too.” muttered Trixie as she rolled her eyes. She took the dizzy Spud’s arm and pulled him out of Jake’s house, waving to Jake as she left.
“North Pole, Santa’s Workshop please.” he told the pixie dust and threw it on the ground. It was actually kinda cool because the dust wasn’t the usual lime green color, it was green and red with holy pictures all around it. Very festive.

At the address on the list, Shade knocked on Jack Frost’s door. A snowman answered and smiled at the young dragon.
“Please, come in!” he greeted and let Shade walk into the nice cabin that was in the frozen area at Magus Bazaar, “Hot chocolate?” he offered.
“No, thanks, I’m actually here for a favor. I’d like for you to make it snow in New York on Christmas Eve and Christmas. I’ll do anything in return.” explained Shade. Jack put his twig hand on his chin and snapped the two ends of his right ‘twig’ hand.
“I think you’ll need to drive around a few senior women (old lady seniors, not high school). And don’t worry, you’ll be able to drive since it’s at Magus Bazaar and they’re dragons, you’ll get to drive a carriage around the area to where they want to go.” Jack Frost offered Shade.
“It’s a deal!” he quickly answered, shaking Jack’s hand, but accidentally pulling it off, “Uh… I’ll get you a new one.”
Shade believed this would be easy, since they’re old women and would probably be asleep, but of course, he was wrong. He had to drive around old women still, but they weren’t REALLY old, but they were REALLY drunk.
“My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and they’re like, it’s better than yours, d*mn right, it’s better than yours, I can teach you but I have to charge!” they kept singing. Shade had stopped them at a fast food place and going through the drive-thru.
“ALRIGHT!” Shade yelled, “I’m sorry, you were saying?” he asked into the clown-head that was used to talk into and take the orders.
“How can I hel you?” a Mexican voice answered with all the women trying to contain their laughter in the background.
“I’ll have a milkshake and a cheeseburger.” one of the old ladies said into Shade’s head, “Oh wait, I was ordering to the wrong clown head!” she yelled and all of them started laughing, making Shade groan.
“We’ll take nine cheeseburgers and a shake…ez.” Shade ordered after the old ladies got quiet in the background.
“You like a fren frine?” the Mexican voice asked, making all of them laugh (except Shade) and Shade look at the clown head in an odd way. Fren frine obviously meant french fries.
“Sorry?” asked Shade, wanting the voice to tell him again.
“Fren frine, fren frine!” he answered in a little bit of an annoyed tone.
“Uh, these aren’t my friends… and ain’t none of them are fine.” the blue dragon told the clown head. Shade could hear one of them go, “I am” in the background.
“FREN FRINE!” the order person said one more time. Shade moved around to ask if they wanted fries and they all started talking in agreement.
“OKAY, OKAY! I’ll take nine french fries.”
“Now, now, hold on, what kind of fountain drinks do you have?” a different old lady than the one talking into Shade asked.
“Escuez me?” the voice asked, not understanding. The old lady asked again and talked very slow, “One moment, plea.” in the background, you could hear the man asking someone else about ‘fountain drink’ before going back to the clown head place, “E-soda? Why you not say e-soda, e-stupid?”
“Okay, we’ll take nine e-sodas, I don’t care what flavor, supresa me.” Shade simply said with a shrug.
“Now, hold on, I’m not in the mood for a cheeseburger,” the old lady who asked for a soda began, “I’m in the mood for a little Mexican. What time do you get off?” all the old ladies in the back seats started jeering and calling.
“Gina, there are some jobs even Mexicans won’t do.” answered Shade and started pulling up to the next window.

Jake appeared in front of a giant workshop in a frozen wasteland. Like on the TV shows, ‘North Pole’ was written on a candy cane out in front of his workshop.
“I guess this is the place.” Jake shivered, even if he was wearing a heavy jacket and pants that were very thick. He walked to the front of the door and opened the giant chocolate door, “Hello?”
“Oh, the American Dragon is here at last!” yelled an elf, running off to a large room to tell Santa. Jake looked around closely and saw two familiar elves.
“Josh? Toph?” he realized.
“Hi, Jake! We’re here to serve elf duty for this year.” Josh greeted, putting down a toy train.
“I hate elf duty…” Toph groaned, putting down her screwdriver and the toy that she was working on, making Jake laugh when he saw what she was wearing.
“I can see why.” Jake said, holding his mouth and trying to contain his laughter. The same elf that saw Jake came back and looked up at him.
“Santa is waiting for you, right this way.” the elf said and led Jake to the giant room with gingerbread doors, “Go on.” he ushered, making Jake turn his arms into his dragon form and pushing the large doors open.
“Ho, ho, ho! American Dragon, you’re here at last!” Santa was sitting on a desk, smiling at Jake and stroking his beard.
“Uh… hiya, Santa.” he said a little nervously.
“I’m pretty sure that you’re wondering why you’re here. Let explain: there was this little child who was always evil and got coal from me every single year. That was a long time ago, and he’s apparently vowed revenge and gotten a secret identity, as well as some interesting powers and stuff. He calls himself the Maelstrom, and he will stop at nothing to kill me. I need you to be here as a body guard, that’s also why Josh and Toph are here.” Santa told Jake.
“I see. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you safe.” Jake answered to the fat man.
“Ho, ho! That’s splendid! For the night, you can stay in the room down the hall.” he told Jake, who nodded and bowed as he left.

Shade was still ‘driving’ through the general area of Magus Bazaar until they got to a red light and next to a ‘gangster’ car.
“Oh, great.” Shade groaned. The driver looked at Shade and bobbed his head up and down a little, showing a ‘what’s up’.
“Shade, that kid’s giving you the eye.” the old lady next to Shade said. The gangster guy just bobbed his head up and down again, but now moving his hand in front of his neck for some odd reason.
“Take him, take him, take him!” they all chanted, pushing Shade past the limit.
“SHUT UP!!” Shade yelled at them and turned to the gangster, “You want to race, punk?”
“Yeah, I’ll take you, fool. But the loser takes YOUR women home. HA!” he laughed, making Shade give him an odd look.
“Okay, Eminem, bring it on!” They both got ready for the light to turn green. Once it did, Shade started speeding and beating the gangster that he was racing, “That’s right, I OWN you, punk!” Shade yelled at him and all the seniors laughing. Suddenly, police sirens could be heard.
“I know what to do…” Gina said, taking off her shirt and starting to unbutton… under-clothing.
“I’LL TAKE THE TICKET!” yelled Shade as he pulled over, “Come on, HURRY UP, POLICE!”
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
After a night’s sleep, it was now Christmas Eve morning and they had all had their breakfast.
“Alright elves, back to work. Jake, Josh, Toph, come with me, please.” Santa announced. They all nodded and walked into his office.
“What do you need?” Josh asked. He and Toph were in normal outfits, but not their normal outfits. They were more festive.
“The Maelstrom has been reposted in the area and he will be here any minute.” he told them and sat down, turning to the window behind him.
“Well, we’ll go and get ready!” Toph said in an eager tone and put her fist up.
“I think I should tell you a few things first: Toph, there’s rocks and dirt under the snow. You’re not powerless here. Josh, the winds are blowing in the east for the next 3 hours. And Jake, it will start snowing at noon, so be careful if your battle continues through then.” Santa explained.
“You know, I never noticed how battle-savvy you are, Santa.” the young boy elf gave Santa a strange look and he just held his large belly and starting laughing.
“Ho, ho, ho! Bad children seem to hold a grudge on Santa forever and I need to be prepared for stuff like this to happen.” answered Santa.
“We’d better go out and look for the Maelstrom now then.” Jake said. The three of them waved to Santa and he waved back as they left his office.
Once outside, the three started walking in the deep snow, unaware of what would lie ahead in their battle.
“We’ve met a lot of enemies, what do you think this Maelstrom will be like?” wondered Jake.
“No idea. I don’t technically know what they look like anyway.” Toph let out a shrug as she held both of her hands in her pockets.
“Me neither. We have too many enemies anyway.” Josh’s voice trailed off in annoyance and he looked up in the sky, obvious signs of snow that will soon appear in the North Pole.
“Guys… he’s here.” Toph quickly said, feeling his vibrations. Indeed she was right: a dark figure was staring at them in a clearing with some trees to the side. The best description for the Maelstrom would be a very tall shadow dressed with a black, ripped cloak.
“You’re the Maelstrom.” said Josh to the giant shadow.
“Yes I am, Santa’s little helpers.” the Maelstrom answered and started walking/floating in that direction. His voice was dark, sinister, and creepy. It would send shivers down your spine. Without allowing Maelstrom to go any farther, Toph quickly shot up rocks from under the show and sent them at the dark creature.
“Back!” she yelled, but the Maelstrom put his arm out. A ray shot out and suddenly, the rocks crumbled into ash and fell to the ground.
“I have power and life drain, so this battle will be hard, since I also have those powers of a shadow.” Maelstrom informed them. Josh shot his arms into the air and sent a whistling breeze across the area and used the winds to whip the Maelstrom, but he roared and sped to Josh.
“WHAT!?” the elf was able to yell before Maelstrom put his hand to Josh’s heart and absorbed some of his life, causing him to fall unconscious and the winds to die down to their normal speed.
“Darn it!” Jake breathed and turned into his dragon form. He used his tail to gather snow and started to hit snowballs at the dark monster, but only as a distraction.
“Hyah!” Toph cackled as she punched the air and shot lots of rocks on a cliff at the Maelstrom, also causing the snow on top to fall and create a mini-avalanche. The Maelstrom ducked from the avalanche into a shadow and snuck up behind Toph. After reappearing, she was knocked unconscious by the Maelstrom’s life draining power.
“I can still stop you!” the dragon glared at Maelstrom and he let out a scoff.
“You don’t have to; I won’t try to kill Santa until tonight.” Maelstrom told him and floated Jake. He was immobilized while Jake’s life started getting taken and he fell to the ground like Josh and Toph did before him.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
After regaining conscious, Jake and the others found themselves sipping on hot chocolate with Santa by their side.
“Oh, thank goodness you’re up!” Santa called out. Toph rubbed her head and groaned before taking the blanket off her.
“How long have we been out?” she asked, not bothering to look for a clock since she was blind.
“A few hours; it’s still the afternoon but almost twilight.” answered Santa, “And I think that this time I can help you for the battle.”
“Help us battle? No offense, Santa, but you’re not really the…” Josh began, but cut himself off in case he sounded too offensive.
“Ho, ho, ho, I probably should have told you before…” Santa chuckled and then began to tell them. The three warriors looked at one-another before Santa continued, “I can control water.” He turned around and shot his arms into the air, controlling the remaining hot chocolate in their mugs.
“Wow! Who would have thought?” Jake said in shock.
“Well, it’s one of the main reasons why I’m up here: all the snow and ocean makes me feel at home.” answered the jolly man.
“We should start thinking of a plan for when the Maelstrom comes; it’s very much suggested that he’ll come at night with an appearance like that.” suggested Josh as he took his blanket off his body as well.
“I was thinking, do you think that you could have your elves make us four hearing devices with talking capabilities?” Jake asked Santa, who nodded in return, “I think that we should all take different sides of the building with these devices on the walls so that we can hear where the Maelstrom is attacking.”
“I have to agree with that idea, as long as I don’t have to put the device IN my ear.” Toph muttered, sipping the hot cocoa that was JUST returned to her green mug.
“I’ll take the south, where the door is, Santa, you can take the north, Toph can have the east, and Josh, you can have the west.” Jake explained, everyone else nodding in agreement to this plan.
Meanwhile, Shade and Florence were anticipating the snow that Jack Frost had promised them to occur at midnight. You might be wondering what happened to Shade: well he accepted the ticket and the nine old ladies agreed to help pay off the bill, at least once they were finally sober.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Night only barely rolled in, but the darkness quickly blanketed the sky.
“Everybody in position?” Jake asked into the monitor, but not facing it.
“Check.”
“Check.”
“Check.”
“Okay, good, make sure that you say something if anything suspicious happens.” Jake finished. A little moment of silence came until suddenly…
“Guys, it’s the Maelstrom!” Santa’s voice echoed through the talking system. Jake turned into his dragon form before he sped over to the Maelstrom, meeting Josh and Toph there. Once they got there, they saw Santa using his water powers to create shields with the snow to block Maelstrom’s attacks.
“Stop trying to destroy Christmas!” Jake yelled at the Maelstrom and started to claw at him, but missed a lot. Before he could attack Jake, Toph shot rocks from under the snow to pummel Maelstrom and Josh shot a giant gust of wind at him.
“I will stop at nothing to get rid of Santa Claus!” the Maelstrom yelled at all three of them and shot dark rays at the four of them. Santa and Toph raised barriers of their perspective element, but Jake and Josh got smacked into the snow.
“Here’s let me help.” Santa suggested and shot the snow to make them both bounce back on their feet. Jake had now shot back into his normal form and began to shoot some fireballs at the Maelstrom from his fists.
“I’ll give you cover and you can go for a big attack.” whispered Josh to Santa, who nodded, while Jake and Toph continued to distract the Maelstrom. Josh began to do the same thing while running with Santa until they were behind Maelstrom. Santa had been controlling the snow up and into water as he was running.
“Where did Santa go…?” wondered Maelstrom for a moment until Santa shot a large wave of water over him and froze it quickly, which wasn’t hard in this frozen area. The four boxed in the Maelstrom as he was trapped in the ice with their respective elements being controlled close by in case of a sudden escape.
“The ice is cracking!” Jake yelled and pointed at it. Everyone got ready when the ice shattered with Santa controlling the broken shards to shoot down at the Maelstrom. He shook off most of the shards with his arms, but a few hit him directly.
“You’ll pay for that, Kringle!”
(A/N: Is it Kringle or Cringle?)
Maelstrom ducked down into his ‘quick escape’ shadow and floated behind Santa. Once there, he shot back up and regained his stable structure. Here, the shadow creature used his life drain to weaken Santa’s guard before shooting a darkness ray that gave him a very large injury.
“Santa!” Josh yelled, making them all go into a state of shock. The three of them ran over to Santa, now on the floor and holding his wound.
“My work is done, with Santa in a critical condition, he won’t be able to deliver any of the presents.” Maelstrom told them, “I’ll be back next year, Santa. And as for you three, I will be seeing you soon. People who get in the way of my goal will be destroyed.” he muttered, quickly enough to sound sinister, but loud enough for them to hear. A giant, dark ray shot from the sky and the Maelstrom was gone.
“What are we going to do now?” Toph asked, in an oddly sad way than she usually is. Santa controlled some water to go over his wound and start healing, but the damage would not be able to be completely repaired until a few weeks.
“What’s going to happen to Christmas?” Josh looked down sorrowfully as well.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Shade and Florence were called up to the North Pole once all four of them went inside.
“That’s terrible! I don’t think that anyone could replace what you could do, Santa.” Florence said sympathetically to the old man.
“If only Mrs. Claus wasn’t on that vacation I let her go on.” Santa grumbled slowly.
“Sir, there are some ladies here to see you.” an elf informed Santa and opened the door further to let nine old ladies enter.
“We just wanted to make sure that you were on your way now!” one of them said. Shade gave them an odd look for a moment and then realized:
“You’re the drunkies I had to drive around post-Christmas Eve!” the old ladies started giggling and nodded.
“We are all Santa’s former wives.” a different old lady told them. Mouths dropped low at the realization of this.
“But… you’re all drunks!” Jake yelled out in return to mostly Shade’s comment.
“How do you think I met them…?” Santa whispered to the children, who all gave him a really odd look, like he was really creepy.
“Well don’t worry, Santa dear, we’ll all drive your sleigh and save this Christmas!” the first lady said, all the others agreeing with a loud, “YEAH!” they all sped outside and you could hear Santa’s sleigh taking off and now was gone.
“You didn’t even tell them that they could do that!” Toph called out, making Santa do his usual laugh.
“If they’re saving Christmas and not nagging me, I’m fine.” the old man told them.
“I’ll never look at you the same way, Santa.” Florence glared at him.
“Dang, Santa’s a playa!” Jake whispered to Shade, making them both laugh a little bit. After some talking and such, they returned home for a small nap, until…
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Christmas day; midnight.
Despite the weather, Shade and Florence HAD to meet so that they could see the snow that would soon be falling. They were both standing near Shade’s door and watching the sky until the first snowflake began to fall.
“It’s beautiful.” Florence caught it with the help of Shade controlling the movement of the snowflake.
“Yep, you sure are.” added Shade in a little cheesy comment, making Florence giggle into her free hand. Shade took her arm and took her up to his door and then gave her a kiss.
“What was that for?” she decided to ask, obviously not resenting it. Shade pointed up at the ball of mistletoe.
(A/N: We don’t have a tiny thing of mistletoe at our house, it’s a bit ball of little mistletoes. I thought that Shade would so the same. XD)
“That was for the mistletoe. And this… is because I love you.” Shade grinned a little at Florence, making them both blush for a little before holding hands and kissing. The snowflake that they were now both holding did not melt or get crushed.
Everyone decided to open their gifts from Santa and the family on their own as tradition and then met back at Jake’s house after a good breakfast.
Shade got an iPod nano, the new one.
And forever more, the group of Jake, Josh, Toph, Shade, and Florence would see Santa as not only the joyous present-giver, but the person who dates drunks, a.k.a., The Playa.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Yes, we will learn more about the Maelstrom later. Happy holidays, everyone! Which is technically merry Christmas, which is technically merry Christmas in 3 days.

Yes, we will learn more about the Maelstrom later. Happy holidays, everyone! Which is technically merry Christmas, which is technically merry Christmas in 3 days.
