Okay, originally I just planned to scrape this idea all together because "Homecoming" aired and the original premise for this story was right after "Love Cruise" and "Homecoming" never happened, but what the hell. A little AU never hurt anyone.
So anyway, here's a little spoiler: a short passage from "Moonrise". It's the early version, so the final appearance in the story itself might be a little different. But whatever.
Enjoy.

Rain fell to the earth, pounding against the grass and bathing all it touched in an alien silver glow. Thunder rumbled briefly overhead, and lightning cracked across the sky, illuminating everything in the clearing in a blinding flash of white.
She was on her knees, her body trembling as she supported his own. Blood stained her hands, her face; her eyes were wide and dazed as his chin rested on her shoulder. Her fingers shook as they gripped her Hunts-Staff, plunged into his chest at the last possible moment.
A soft cough escaped him, and her eyes widened.
"Rose..."
She tilted her head slightly to look at him, her whole body beginning to tremble now. "No, don't talk," she whispered. "You'll just lose your strength... please..."
He laughed tiredly, his hand gripping her shoulder. "I'm already dying; a few words won't change it."
"No... please..."
He laughed again, blood dribbling down his chin to run down her back. "So kind," he murmured, closing his eyes. "You always were, even to me. Hell if I know what I did to deserve it."
She gazed helplessly over his shoulder, the rain dripping through her hair, down her back and neck, into her eyes. Her clothes clung to her skin; her mind refused to process correctly. "Why?" she choked out. "Why did you...?"
"I'm sorry." His voice was weak. "You... must have been scared." His hand tightened briefly on her shoulder, went limp. He turned his head slightly, so he was speaking directly into her ear.
"Thanks. Now... I can die... knowing I was human." His breath was warm against her ear, so warm. "I can die... knowing that the wolf in me didn't win."
A choked sob escaped her.
He sighed softly. His hand went limp, falling from her shoulder; his body suddenly felt heavier against her own. He was dead.
Tears welled in her eyes and streamed down her face, to mingle and be lost in the rain; an anguished scream tore from her throat as sobs racked her body.
"NO!!!"

Again: early version. Might change, especially since the characters are never mentioned.
Be on the look-out for "Moonrise"! I'll post it soon.
