Graphics: 8 Pretty standard on character turns, but the environment is what really amazed me. From the start of the game to finish nothing about the game repeats, you won't find yourself jumping in the same fashion in every level, something sets the level apart.
Music: 7 Good, but can be better, the music even when turned up fully doesn't always get through when you are blasting enemies, though in cutscenes it tends to do well.
Gameplay: 9 Each breath Spyro uses brings a different element (no pun intended) of combat and has a variety of ways to stun enemies or eliminate them without taking a bit of damage. The levels present a decent challenge to a gamer but does not overwhelm with difficulty.
Voice Acting: 8 The change in Sparx's voice actor took a bit of getting used to, other then that the voices were good. The Chronicler has a habit of making strange pauses mid sentence that kinda makes his talking seem unnatural. Spyro and Cynder are very much on par as are the other voice actors.
Overall: 8 They did a good job with this game, I'm happy to say that I am still playing it to unlock all of the art gallery as well as finish upgrading all of Spyro's abilities. The dragon challenges are not particularly difficult provided you got good practice during the actual game and the reward for completing them all is very worth it.
I look forward to the next game in the series, since he ending to this one clearly shows there will be a third, and perhaps final, chapter in this story.

I remember the days of the OLD Spyro, where you had to run around, and get the talisman's. Or rescue the dragons and deafeat Gnasty. THOSE were the originals, THOSE were the trilogy, but then, they HAD to come out with multiple breaths, and aerial combat, and ruin the series....Kinda like Crash Bandicoot.
But anyways, the game is alright.....as my above said mentions that I hate the elements of the game.

But anyways, the game is alright.....as my above said mentions that I hate the elements of the game. It's worth mentioning that the first couple of Spyro games were developed by Insomniac games, who created the IP. After the first three games they decided to move on and work on new projects (Ted Price mentioned in an interview they felt Spyro as a player character was too limited to add new features to). They sold the IP to other game developers (Traveler's Tails, I believe). Insomniac went on to develop the highly-successful (and very fun) Ratchet & Clank series on the PS2 and 3, as well as Resistance: Fall of Man. (The same thing happened with Crash Bandicoot. Naughty Dog made the first couple of games, sold the license to other developers, and went on to do the Jak & Daxter series (which recently ended with Jak 3 and the side-project "Jak X: Combat Racing"). Their latest game is the newly released "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune".) Different development teams can often do vastly different things with games. It really all is up to how a developer's vision for the game and how they think they can make it better, or make it different to keep the title fresh. Or just to help make it sell more copies. Personally I haven't played Spyro since I was 10 but I remember liking it then! I can't say I've outgrown it though because I play plenty of kid-friendly games (like Ratchet & Clank mentioned above).
