Emily Haines has a progressive music career, she's the lead singer in the band Metric and has does a couple of back vocals for the band Broken Social Scene. This year, Emily release her second solo album titled "Knives Don't Have Your Back".
The "full" artist name for this is Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton. Soft Skeleton is the group that plays the instruments in the songs.
Emily's songs have powerful meaning about death, depression, a shaky world full of disappointments and everything else that relates to a lot of people. With a soothing voice and wonderful piano work, her songs are relaxing and yet painful in a way that makes you think.
Of course, Emily's genre is "indie" but don't let that fool you. If you like a soothing soft voice with the background of piano, violins and much more then you'll love this album.
As for a favourite song? Most all of them are my favourites. If I had to choose three though I'd choose "Reading in Bed", "Crowd Surf Off A Cliff" and "The Lottery".
