I am posting this here in the spirit of the alliance.
People, it has again occurred to me that perhaps we've missed an important part of this struggle. The television industry is filled with people of shameless ambition. Every job they take is meant to be a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Perhaps certain key people (i.e. writers, directors, artists, etc.) have moved on and there's no one else to pick up the slack. Perhaps it falls to us, the Kimmunity and the ADJL fans, to fill this gap. Yes, I said US!!!
Some time ago, I took up amateur screenwriting. I had always been fascinated by cartoons, comics, fantasy novels, TV shows, movies,...STORIES. I first let a story take me over 13 years ago. The story I began writing then just turned 13 and still isn't finished, but others have been. Things improved recently on this front.
I went to the library and hooked up with the local writer's club. There's one in almost every town that has a library. Every week I go to one of their meetings and test my material against their judgement.
I went to this site: celtx.com/ and downloaded the program Celtx. It's program designed specificly for those who wish to write for professional visual media. Stage, screen, comics, tv, you name it.
Many of you write fanfiction for Kim or Jake. Many of you come up with ideas for episodes.
I say if Disney won't or can't make us more episodes, LET'S DO IT FOR THEM!!!
For those of you willing to take this challenge, don't jump in cold.
Do what I did.
Download the program.
Join the local writers group. They ARE that common.
Download or buy a few professionally written scripts to get an idea of what the final product looks like.
Lastly, if you're going to write for Kim or Jake. Sit down amd watch your favorite episode and literally transcribe it.
NOTE: It is not enough to merely write down all the dialogue. The writer has to write down every action the characters make. You'd be surprised how many pages of direction five minutes of animation takes. It's very complex.
Also, remember you're writing for somebody elses character so you must remain faithful to that character, even if you don't like them that much.
Celtx also comes with a proprietary internet connection that takes the user directly to a board where they may read others scripts and comment on them as well as post their own scripts. If you can't get any proper feedback from anyone else, post there and WE'LL help you out.
Lastly, it's probably not a good idea to mention this in our emails to Disney re: the Fight for Five or Three. If they think we're just doing this to break into the industry, they may discount us as shameless self-promoters and have one more reason to leave the shows cancelled.
Who knows maybe new talent is what they need to push this over the top. The next time any of you talk to the VPs, mention this to them. Maybe with a few more resources, they can get us our shows back.
