Regardless of whether or not, Jake's S1 dragon form made sense in terms of how long he'd been training or how much he'd matured, I think it was a pretty odd decision to completely change the proportion of his dragon form. Something like that to me just doesn't make sense.
And regardless of his age, Jake is the American Dragon and is supposed to be viewed as an image of authority and power amongst the magical realm, which is pretty hard to buy when he looks the way he does in S2.
And let's be honest, in comparison to a number of the foes Jake was fighting in S1, he wasn't really that big. Sure, he was a few feet taller than Rose, but was basically equal height to the Huntsman, and a number of the wrestlers he fought in the episode "Ring Around The Dragon", which I'm guessing puts him somewhere around the 6-7 ft mark. Now, considering the dragons I've seen in movies like LOTR and HP, I don't really consider him that big at all.
Granted, those dragons were probably adults, but even so, Jake's 13-14 over the course of the show and going through puberty which means development in things such as growth and muscle development. Besides, if a dragon form's size is supposably dependent upon the person's age and levels of maturity, why weren't any other adult dragon forms changed to be much larger?
I was only referring to his height as a human... I do like your explanations though on the things.
(In general I’m old-School too... but for some things I like the changes that have happened)
lol Well I wasn't really aiming my post at anyone, just sort of generally saying my thoughts on the issue.
And yeah, I enjoy change as well, but I think it's a lot better to introduce change gradually rather than make everything different all at once.
The S2 animation probably would've had a much greater reception if the animation artists had made changes gradually rather than just changing everything and shocking everyone like they did when it first came out.
