After I read through the various news of TF2's free to play mode, apparently I got the feeling I might play. But I'm still skeptical if there would be any bots to play with. I heard there are tutorials you can play with where there are some bots for you to practise with, but playing in a match with bots? Not sure, I need a confirmation about this one before I'm willing to risk my hard disk spaces to download this now free game.
And no, NOT gonna install Steam just for that either!

For the last time why I hate Steam, it's because I need to login online in order to access to those games! As for the offline mode, can you guess which one comes first?! Login online first, obviously! And then when restart as offline mode, now that can be quite annoying that I have to start again and again, if that one is a one time shot, no thanks either, I rather go back to the traditional ways of playing my games just like back in the 90s, no digital distribution of some sort, only via the simple ways of DVDs.
I'm already one of the many haters out there who hates Steam and I'M PROUD OF IT! There are more non-Steam servers out there too, if I were one of those online players, I'll pick Garena.
------------
Ok, I managed to get a copy of Team Fortress 2, but it's all thanks to EPC Gaming, another non-Steam service provider. Yes, the place over there provided me a clean installation and not to mention away from Steam. But then again, it comes with an emulator of their own as well as latest patches.
I'm happy and ready to play it once I patch up the game, but first things first, try to spawn the bots. If the latest version of TF2 still cannot spawn bots (via the user-friendly way like CS Source did, NOT console commands) for offline playing, then I know I already wasted my time downloading it.

eh, don't get why you hate digital distribution. its parc loads cheaper than buying the games in a store or even second hand half the time. i will say i do miss having a disk that guaranteed play after the service vanishes. (that's why i still insist on disks for some games)
i seriously don't get as much problems from steam as you with the off line mode. just ran TF2 yesterday from offline. got me though why you can be proud of hating the thing that's making gaming not cost a fortune. (and the developers actually get a good cut too)
seriously you speak of it like its a virus. And if you want to to auto launch in off line mode just make a text document and write BootStrapperInhibitAll=enable ForceOfflineMode=enable and then save as steam.cfg in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam.
before inserting it though make sour to have your log-in password set to save/autologin and have your games completely updated. then exit, insert the file i told you to create and enjoy every single steam game you own running flawlessly in offline mode. (even the pesky L4D2 ran just fine) ------------
i've never known how to spawn bots so i'm not even going to try.

The coding you gave me seems to be something that I didn't encounter, that's why I hated it. Anyway, I've already downloaded the game, no point installing Steam when I already got what I came for.

Well, wish I could do it. But I rather not because I already got what I came for, so there's no need for those codes. Thanks but no thanks.

Oh, sorry about that. But let's give it a rest, it'll never change a thing, I'll remain a Steam hater forever. Some things just don't just change.
-------
Right now, Valve still got nothing to show us yet, doors still remain closed.

ya i'm fine with letting it be.
-----
well they did just make 2 big changes, TF2 Free and Portal 2 released just 3 months ago. i would give them some time before anything new is announced. (still confused as all hell how their going to do a Portal 3 with out Chell, and i'm just assuming a 3rd portal as both portals have been immensely popular)

TF2 being free is something major and that's what I know and now it's old news. That's why I downloaded the non-Steam version earlier in the first place.
Anyway, still no news for any of the L4D2-converted L4D1 campaign maps either. And woo, Portal again? Are you sure? I better not do that project if I were the Valve project managers, people are aiming in not only the next Half Life, but our biggest leap will be Counter Strike 2 instead.

Hohoho! Clone, awesome TF2 game I've played, there's tutorials (Although sadly only available for Soldier, Spy, Engineer & Demoman) and including the skirmish offline gameplay I'm looking for. Although sadly there isn't a lot of maps & not all modes are available to play with, but my guess for the reason why is because pathfinding is very difficult to do, that's why Valve can only make a few for offline gameplay. And of course, the game was meant for online playing, not a whole lot meant for offline such as they did with L4D.
Hopefully you got some more maps which can be for used offline gameplay (which the waypoints made are good rather than buggy) including any remaining tutorials. Although I wonder if you install maps yourself, will the game itself study the waypoints and pathfindings like it did with the past Valve games such as Counter Strike?

dought the game will generate AI markers. this game is running on a old engine after all not to mention the AI in all source games are highly questionable as is.
