I NEED HELP!! While I was on my main computer, a message saying that SPYWEARE WAS DETECTED ON YOUR COMPUTER. If this was a small message, I would deal with it but this message came up and covered THE WHOLE FREAKIN DESKTOP! ALL BLACK WITH WHITE AND RED WRITING!! and I'm really freaking out right now! IT SAID THAT ANOTHER COMPUTER HAD ACCES TO MY COMPUTER!!
I my computer has been getting viruses everyday for about 3 weeks! AND there have been popups every 5 mineutes D8 I keep telling my mom to get a software that destroys spywear BUT SHE KEEPS IGNORING IT!!! NOW LOOK WERE IT IS!
I think it was because I went on a website that said it "showed avatar episodes' and planted a virus on my computer WHY THE F*CK DO PEOPLE DO THAT!
When The message came up, the first thing I thought of was to cut off the source. So I shut down the computer and shut off the internet for a couple minutes. The main computer is still off ( I'm on my lap top) and I don't know if I did the right thing or I just screwed it up more.
Please.. anyone who has computer skills HELP!!!

OH NO! Thats the same virus I had on my old laptop. I kept getting popups. Ok, first go to Control Panel ---> Add Or remove Programs----> Remove Program. If theres anything that doesn't seem familiar at all, google it first and if its a virus or spyware REMOVE ITS SORRY BUTT!!!! (be careful, one time I made a mistake and removed the sound codec and it was a pain in the butt to get back) Then get a spyware remover. The best free one out there is Windows Defender ( www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx ). Hope this helps! If it said someone was in you computer, turning it off was the best thing. If you left it open it could get all your families personal info (credit card numbers, website passwords etc.) and/or destroy important files.

First, you should run antispyware stuff and try to get rid of it. If you can't and you've tried everything, go to restarting your whole computer/hardrive. But really, that's only what you want to use on a last resort, even if I currenly have a virus and am probably about to do that. ;>

What is he name of the program that pops up in the pop-up adds. Google that software name. There are a couple of tools that can help with the removal of the pests. Also, try a system restore. I know that helped me when I got infected (Same type of virus). Try Spybot S&D if you want free anti-spyware. I also use Ewido, which iirc got absorbed with AVG.

Spyware destroyers such as Spybot S&D and Lavasoft's Ad-Aware are good, I used them both at the same time. Moreover, I did install a spyware blocker to prevent the future of them from getting inside again, but their function is only blocking, not destroying it, they are SpywareGuard and SpywareBlaster, both are from Javacool.

I think, you're computer get an ad-ware at first. It is something like to say "YOu're computer Infected by BLA BLA BLA, JUST USE oUR SOFTWARE" or anything similar. Is the pop-up force you to use their software? Is the pop-up ask for free internet cleaner? If they do, they just an ad-ware (not a big deal). Use process explorer, use it search soft feature, find it, and try to end the process. If it come from windows (it is under system tab, not explorer tab), then you must be careful when end task the application. To get rid of it, use the software given up there (Spybot is good, I personally use it) and let it find out the rest. DON"T CLICK ANY LINK GIVEN BY THE POP-UP, IT iS ANOTHER VIRUS! If you have found the process in the process explorer (you may use other task kill software such as jamilah), try to access msconfig and find the same process. Then, untick it, it suppose to remove the pop-up. When it say to download the spyware remover, You actually has been infected by ad-ware. Then, because you don;t donlod their software, then it become spyware, which is irritating and dangerous. Oh, try to use this software called ccports to check any incoming and outcoming port (ussually spyware giving out information, so they are internet connection from anonymouse application or even windows application such as svchost.exe). LASTLY, CHANGE ALL YOUR PASSWORD (by now, all the data suppose has been logged and sent to the spyware maker). Try to use safe mode if can;t (safe mode, press F8 on booting process). THat's all i can help, hopes it work
Hopes this help

If you see a popup that says "Click here to get rid of Spyware", CLOSE IT IMMEDIATLY. That is fake spyware. If something downloads itself to your computer, best wipe it clean.

Hmm, from what your mom thinks that she wants to go for a reformat, well, go ahead, it can completely clean the entire computer again. But if you don't want, I don't know, but you decide for the whole thing and see what's best for you. If you want to go for the reformat, make sure you backup your stuff first. Put them into an external hard disk or keep those important files of yours away from the C drive, you must have at least 2 partitions. Because the Windows systems are mostly going to store is in your C drive. Overall, never neglect backup.

Oh, and hey, next time install an antivirus (one), anti-spyware (one), firewall (optional) and an anti-spam. It is good enough for you're protectione (not all, i mean just some of it). Oh, before backup, make sure you've installed security protection on other media, coz virus can copy itslef to other media, even cd (when you burn it), or else you will meet the same virus again and again (actually i sugest to have weekly backup, though). For safety, try to use boot cd to backup (virus can only active on windows i suppose, except for some like NoBron.w32), so your backup media won't get infected. That's just some sugestion, anyway, you can search on google on how to recover formated data using third party software (it is not perfect duh)
