As some of you know or may not know, I already saw Magic Enemy #1 on Disney On Demand, and not to give the episode away, when I saw what Brad did to Jake in this episode, I thought to myself I could see Bonnie doing the same to Kim if she had the opportunity on Kim Possible.
And it reenforced a thought of mine that I have had for a while, and that Brad and Bonnie play the some role on the two respective shows. Brad the AD:JL Bonnie Rockwaller, while Bonnie is the KP Brad Morton, they both are the social antagonist of the main characters.
However they are so different, and parts of them are complete opposites. (No not the obveous one is a boy, the other is a girl)
For some reason I think Bonnie has some character depth, is a sympathic and redemable character, and I don't despise her. While I just plainly think Brad is a jerk, and despire him. And Brad has shown no character depth.
Why is that? Is it because one is a boy, the other is a girl? I don't think so.
For me the difference are, occasional Bonnie's critcism of Kim has a valid point, Kim once in a while prevokes her, and I kind of feel sorry for her. She tries her best, but Kim most of the time, is one step ahead. And Bonnie is not a jerk to everyone.
While Brad is a jerky spoiled rich kid. He always prevokes Jake first, and picks on everyone. For some reason, he doesn't get the sympathy, I give Bonnie. Unlike with Kim and Bonnie, he has everything he wants, money and popularity. Jake is not keeping him from anything he really wants. The only thing Jake is keeping from him is Rose's love, and I don't think Brad really cares that much about her.
For him, girls are just an object. Especially now that she is gone, the Jake / Rose / Brad triangle history erased from Brad's memory, and he is still a jerk to Jake and everyone else.
I could see why Bonnie could be an identifiable character, when it comes to her rivalry and frustration with Kim. They are many people that have a sibling, cousin, classmate, etc. that is just a little better than them at almost everything. The old Jan Brady syndreme, and feel for Bonnie. While very few can identify with a spoiled rich kid.
And apprently many fans agree with me. On Kim Possible fan websites, there quite few Bonnie fans. A lot of them feel sympathy for her, idenify with her, and feel she has redmable traits. There are also Bonnie haters too, and I think it is equal between Bonnie fans and haters.
On the other hands, as you guys probably know, on American Dragon: Jake Long fan websites, pretty much everyone dislikes Brad.
