The topic of this thread is to discuss the postings in the blog, not why Disney wants to cancel AmDrag...

But the latest blog discusses that Disney said no to a 2 part episode of ADJL. Previous blogs also said that Homecoming is not the first 2 part episode idea shot down.
In the 3rd paragraph of "Inside Homecoming," Matt writes that in order to have a 2 part episode, "it would have to be comedic and have nothing to do with the mythology of the show." The comedic requirement is understandable, but the second requirement is not.
As such, I was on topic on this thread. The episodes could be fixed to be less dark, but there is little reason to limit imagination.
The way Matt and Eddie are discussing the show is like there are higher executives that are okaying production, but they leave it to lower executives for resources and editing who do not like how the show works.

Well, the Channel Executives decide what goes on their channel, so they have the final say in the end. S&P are also all powerful in deciding what goes into a show.

Well, the Channel Executives decide what goes on their channel, so they have the final say in the end. S&P are also all powerful in deciding what goes into a show. In such a system, Channel executives give the show the ok, but the managers that control the shows like AD:JL and Kim Possible may not agree to the show. It is sad that AD:JL can't go too far into mythology while they provide a series to Disney's animated movies. But now thinking about it, how many of those series go into the mythology and history of their story settings?

It is sad that AD:JL can't go too far into mythology while they provide a series to Disney's animated movies. But now thinking about it, how many of those series go into the mythology and history of their story settings? It's not so much that they're forbidden go into their show mythology more than it is that it's just kind of difficult squeezing that in with what the channel wants. Take for instance: "Family Business" (since your avatar brought the episode to mind). It looks like a good place to reveal some of the more detailed information of Dragon Training, and how Dragon Masters and students are chosen (since, obviously, Haley had to get a master at some point) -- which would be a good chance to reveal some mythology of the show -- while also demonstrating a more familiar sibling rivalry storyline that is pretty kid-relatable, which is what the Channel would want. But it's hard balancing all of that. They would have to include some a fair amount of story, as well as a fair share of action, along with good jokes, and as well as keeping it friendly for a children's TV network. It's hard, and often they can't get everything they would want into an episode, and usually what the Channel would want would take priority over what the producers of the show would want.

when has DC been targeting young girls?? For quite a while. Have you seen any show on Disney Channel outside of AmDrag? Kim Possible. But your point is taken. If you look at ARA's merchandise threads, you'll notice the number of complaints about how all the KP stuff is pink and such, instead of the more "guy-friendly" black and olive...

At least they're showing the final episode last this time. It's just kind of a shame that the show might be subjected badly to the big channel schedule change coming up soon.
