Yushhhhh... Raffi is the biggest dork in the world and likes updating late in the night time and stuff like that. *_* Hah... anyway, this was like... what? Seven pages again? XD It's not really that much, again, but I hope it's decent. Just to let you guys in, this story will have more than ten chapters but probably less than twenty. We'll have to see how it works out. ^^
I knew I said I'd work on ROTY but LAAB is fun for some reason... And it's a Christmas fic, so I'll work on it the most while the month of December lasts. XD Anyways... here's the other sucky chapter six and I stole the chapter title from Ewan's veryveryvery old fan fic that was soo awesome. :K
Jake and the rest were having a pretty smooth flight up to the North Pole. Things started to seem colder for him as they progressed north, though. Tinker was the first to notice that he started to feel uneasy as the temperature dropped nearly ten below zero. He started to think that Alaska was a better place to be in- and that’s saying something. “Can we guys like… stop… or… something?” He said, blinking slowly and taking short breaths. “It’s getting kind of… cold.”
“Well, actually… there’s one way we can help you out with this temperature.” Sher said.
“Please tell me!” Jake said all of a sudden. “Anything it takes!”
“Erh… well…” She said. “You kind of… erh, sort of… have to…”
Florence eagerly looked around while she watched Shade do some packing and walking around from one place to another. She seemed excited and already thinking about what they’re going to do once they get other there. Flo softly hummed “Everytime We Touch” just for fun, but she tried to make it so Shade couldn’t hear her. Erh, well… apparently, it didn’t work.
“Is that you?” He asked as he walked over to his bed. “Cause I think I hear something.”
“Umm… no… it’s nothing,” She lied. “I’m just… bored… that’s all.”
“Yeah, I know that you already have your stuff with you since you’re staying here with me and out of the lair for a while.” Shade said. “Sorry if I’m taking too long.”
“Oh, no! It’s alright!” Florence said. “I was just thinking about what we’re gonna when we get there.” She grinned then got up and continued humming the song even softer as she couldn’t help but fix some of his belongings. Well, she couldn’t really help it if she was bored.
“Me too.” Shade said, pausing to stop and perceive the supposed silence. “And are you sure you don’t hear something? I think I keep hearing the sound of humming.”
“I’m sure it’s nothing,” She grinned nervously. “But anyway… what do you we think we should do?”
“Well, we haven’t been there for a while,” He said, “So we might want to take a look around.”
“But where are we going to stay?” Flo brought up. “It’s not like we still have our old houses and they’re still vacant.”
“Good point,” said Shade. “But… you know, we could probably stay at some hotel or something. I mean if we pitch in together, we could probably have enough to stay somewhere decent and still get something every night.”
“And if not, we could always come back here,” She said, pointing at the bag that Shade had set on top of his desk. He nodded. “So, I guess we can just plan out the rest when we get there, right?”
“Of course,” He said. “We’re gonna have a blast!”
“Oh yes we will!” Florence said.
“I have to what!” Jake exclaimed.
“You heard me,” Sher said, “You have to turn into an elf. Besides, you said you’d do whatever it takes.” After hearing that previous sentence, he admitted defeat and they flew down somewhere that had land. Jake could feel himself shivering and shaking. Tinker and Sher got down from Vixen while Kimper stayed on him. “So, you ready?” She made sure.
“Yeah… I… guess,” He was still shaking.
“Hold still,” said Sher as she flicked a powder-like substance of magic at him. A small cloud of dust appeared, causing Jake to cough a few times. He noticed that he was a foot smaller than his usual short height.
“Hey! I’m an elf!” Jake said, his voice a little more high-pitched. “AH! My voice is girly!”
“HEY!” All three of them exclaimed all of a sudden. “At least you’re not freezing anymore!
“Yeah true,” He said. “Now let’s get going!”
“Mmhmm,” They all agreed and Jake converted to his dragon form again while Sher and Tinker got on Vixen again.
Shade was almost done getting his things all done and Florence felt that she could no longer entertain herself by just walking around, so she pulled out her CD player and put her headphones on while listening to her usual favorite song.
“Are you listening to Breaking the Habit?” Shade asked as he walked around, “for like the millionth time?”
“It’s a cool song!” Florence said proudly. She felt like blurting out a line but tried to make it so she wouldn’t sound as great as she normally would- not horrible, but as if it were usual. “I don’t know why I instigate and say what I don’t mean! I don’t know how I got this way! I know it’s not all right! So I’m breaking the habit! I’m breaking the habit! I’m breaking the habit! Tonight!”
“Nice.” He complimented, assuming that it was her real singing voice. “I love that song too, you know. But… I always thought you liked Hips Don’t Lie… or that one thing.”
“Well yeah, that too.” She said, closing her eyes as she tapped her fingers to the beat of the Linkin Park song. “You done yet, Shade?”
“Yeah, yeah, just hold your horses. I just got to get something real quick.” He said as he went over to the other side of the room. “But don’t you think we should go in the morning? I’m kind of tired, you know.”
“Now that you mention it, I think I am too.” Florence said as she looked at the wall clock that ticked continuously in his room. “And it’s only quarter to nine in the evening. Kind of awkward, you know?”
“Hey, you know what they say; early to rise, early to fall… erh, sleep.” Shade said. “Or… something like that… I really don’t remember.”
“True…” She said, stopping to yawn a little. “I guess we should go tomorrow morning.”
“What if the time zones are different?” He remembered. “Wouldn’t it be awkward going there at a time when it’s, say, probably early here but late there?”
“Yeah… But I’m tired.” She said, stretching a little as she leaned back at the head of the bed. He knew that she was by listening to the tone of her voice. “At least a half hour?”
“I guess.” Shade said. “That sounds good… I mean… it’s not that long of a nap, so we can head off whenever we feel we’re ready.”
“Sounds good to me,” Florence said, starting to doze off as she leaned her head on her hand. Shade shrugged and just sat next to her. It was funny, just looking at her started to make him feel a little sleepy himself. He got up and turned off a few of the lights that were on so that they could feel a little more comfortable. Shade then set himself next to her again, letting Florence lean her head over his shoulder as they both fell asleep. (A/N: That moment made me yawn… now I’m even sleepier. Darn myself.)
Eventually, Jake and the rest had finally made it to the North Pole. Nobody said a word or complained a single whine, so it was less trouble to worry about. Everybody landed near a place where sparkling glaciers were laid across the barren, icy atmosphere.
“Erh… is this the North Pole?” He asked, expecting the place to be a little more crowded or full of lights and… well, houses and people.
“It is,” Sher said, “But this is the starting point of it. We have to walk around less than half a mile to reach either the village or the Candy Cane forest. But trust me, it won’t take long.”
“That’s good.” Jake said as he reverted to human form. “At least I can take a break with flying.” Sher and the twins still rode atop Vixen as they all proceeded through. Suddenly, he was the first to spot a flash of red and green lights. “Hey! I think we’re here!” It had been around ten minutes until they knew that they were all in a place called Christmas Town. Walking up a little more to the north was where Santa’s Workshop would be. Everybody progressed even further as they finally reached the front steps. Sherlyn got off of Vixen and opened the door, with Jake wide-eyed at the devastating scene.
“Santa?” Sher looked around to see if he was there. Sure enough, she spotted him over at a door that lead to his house.
“So, you’re the American Dragon,” Santa said, making a skeptical look at Jake.
“Erh, c-call me Jake.”
“I hear that you’re a non-believer, are you?”
“About that… I… I’m sorry.”
“At least you know that we’re totally real now, right?” Tinker said. “That’s what’s important; and that you know why you’re here.”
“Yup.” He nodded. “So… what exactly happened here?”
“You can go around and ask the other worker elves.” Santa replied. “They should have a certain say about it.”
“If you say so,” Jake said, jumping down from a ramp and going around to a nearby elf.
Cat had gone through Manhattan and finally made it to New York City, remembering the streets where she once roamed in. She could feel snow falling in her head as she wandered through the street where her house was. “There it is!” She said to no-one-in-particular. Seeing as she had spotted her house, Cat carefully made her way up to the front porch and rang the doorbell.
She only had to wait for a few seconds until the door slowly creaked and saw her little sister in the door, putting her hand on the knob. “YAY! You’re here!” Cat grinned and came over to lift up her sister softly then give her a big hug. “I thought you’d NEVER come back!”
“Of course I was going to come back.” Her big sister replied as she closed the door behind her with Jazz in her arms. “So, how’s everything been going here at home?”
“Great!” She replied cheerfully. “Only… it’s not that exciting without YOU here.”
“Aww, don’t say that.” Cat said, putting her little sister down and petting her on the head as if she were a dog. “I’m sure you had fun with everyone else, right?”
“Maybe a little but… not as much.”
“Face my wrath evil monster!” called out a familiar voice. It was her little brother Kevin who was running down the steps and nearly tackling Jazz down in the ground. “Mwahaha!”
“Why is it that you remind me of someone familiar?” Cat teased, giggling at her own joke.
“So… do you know what happened here?” asked Jake, who was questioning the first eyewitness of the scene.
“Umm well… there was this sudden flash of light then everything was pitch black.” The elf said. She had the name of Krysta, who had a unique light blue, sparkly santa-like hat on her head, which seemed to be a little like the one Jake noticed that Florence was wearing. “Then there was this monster of some sort, wrecking the whole place. We all felt defenseless and couldn’t do ANYTHING about it. It was just sad to see him breaking all of the machines… but when I looked over with my friend, I saw the creature taking specific things. There were a lot of very valuable gifts meant for the best people in the nice list Santa had, but he didn’t seem to steal that.”
“Do you remember what they were?” He asked, taking mental notes on the story he was hearing.
“Actually, I think you might have a better understanding if you talk to my friend, Jan. She saw the rest of it.” Krysta replied, pointing to a specific person.
“Alright,” Jake nodded as he thanked her then walked over to one of Krysta’s closest friends. “Hey… I… um… I’m the American Dragon. I’m just here asking if you know anything about what happened earlier?”
Jan nodded slowly, feeling a little shy to someone who was a complete stranger to her. “Umm, well… I guess Krysta told you about the first part, right?” Jake shook his head up and down gradually. “So… after the creature guy, who we had no idea about, started attacking the place, he started taking a few presents. I saw some of the specific ones he stole. I saw that there was some traditional and commonly bought items that most kids get a lot; you know, like dolls, teddy bears, and all of the many stuff that the machine had. See, we always get a lot of those because we know a lot of children who like them.”
“Uh huh…” Jake said. “So, I heard he wasn’t taking anything expensive… is that correct?”
“Mmhmm,” She replied. “Normally, the most priceless things here are like game systems and… stuff like that. But he didn’t take any of that.”
“Did you happen to catch the name of the villain?” He asked.
“No, I’m sorry.” Jan responded politely. “That’s pretty much all I know… so I hope I can be at least a little bit of help.”
“Thank you very much.” Jake expressed thankfully.
“It’s no problem, really.” She said. “Just ask the other worker elves if you need any further information.”
“Alright…” He said. “I’ll do that.”
It had been probably an hour or two ever since the two had fallen asleep. Florence was the first to wake up and realize that they had dozed off even longer than they had anticipated. She used her free hand to rub her eyes, trying not to wake Shade for a second. She grinned a little, knowing that she had been leaning on his shoulder the whole time. She then understood what she had to do and shook him gently to see if he would awaken.
“Huh?” Shade said in a sleepy tone with his eyes half closed. “Is that you Florence?”
“Erh… y-yeah.” Flo said, softly shook him a little more. “We’ve been asleep for two hours… it’s time to get uppp.”
“Noooo.” He just moaned sleepily. “I don’t want to get up from bed.” Shade blinked his eyes slowly, trying as hard as he could to stay awake.
“Shade, don’t be stubbornnn.” Florence said sounding groggy as well, still shaking him. “We better get over there soon.” She thought for a moment. “Hey, here’s a thought! Since we can get to Scotland in no time, why don’t we just go there now and go find the nearest hotel and call it a day. How’s that?”
“That’s… good.” Shade said slowly. “The sooner the time for sleep, the better.” After he was able to get up from bed, they both got themselves ready, putting a knapsack on their backs. The two of them also thought like Jake and Cat; packing light gives you an easier way to travel.
“Let’s do this.” Flo said.
“Yeah!”
They both fixed themselves a little as well, and then Florence held the container that held magic as they both joined hands after she flicked a pinch of the enchantment that had made a dusty cloud appear. They had both closed their eyes and when they opened it, they found their selves in the place they never expected to be in.
……………………
“Wow…” Florence said softly as they both looked around. “This place is… kind of different.”
“I agree.” Shade said as they both walked around near a familiar monument of some sort, which was probably the City of Chambers. They both noticed how different the sky seemed to be than when it was seemingly pitch black outside in Draco Island. (A/N: Sadly, I don’t know the time difference between East Coast America and Scotland or something like that… me not smart. I need to learn more about the country. @_@)
“Say, didn’t you think that this place was probably a little more… erh, crowded?” Flo wondered after they had gone through Edinburgh. Which, to them, seemed a lot more beautiful and exciting to see in person… and especially since they hadn’t been there for so long.
“Yeah, I always thought there was more people than this.” Shade agreed. “Strange…”
“Maybe it might not be like Glasgow, I suppose.” She said. “It might be the capital, but you never really know, right?”
“Erh, I guess.” He said. “I still think something’s up though… but I’m too tired to think.”
“Yeah, same here.” Flo said. “You want to just go somewhere where we can crash and call it a night? Erh… well, I mean… day?”
“I suppose,” Shade said. “I just think that people would find it weird how we’re napping in the afternoon.”
“That’s time zones for ya,” She said as they both walked over to a nearby place.
“Say, don’t you think it’s kind of weird how some villain would just come in and ruin everything that makes toys?” Sherlyn said.
“Yeah…” Jake agreed. “I mean… Santa’s sleigh is still working and nobody in the village appears to be hurt; and apparently, nobody’s houses seemed to be destroyed… erh, at least… not yet, I suppose.”
“True,” Tinker said. “But could this be a sort of resemblance? I mean… if he’s out to destroy the most significant part of Christmas… then… what could he possibly want?”
Yesh... I make very crappy cliffhangers. I know you can tell that I'm trying to make it suspenseful when it's really not in your guys's eyes. @___@
Mwahaha... well, I'm going off to bed pretty soon... I'll probably be a dork and get up at seven or eight. Don't count on me getting on until like twelve or one though. I'll be playing my friend's DS... I guess I forgot to mention that I borrowed it from him for the weekend. It's sooo cool. Now I want one. x.x And he's getting a Wii this year... I HATE HIM SO MUCH. *envyyy* XD
Anyway... ummmm... keep up those requests on stuff coming... because I got only three people who I'm giving stuff to so far. Liek I says, don't be shy or embarrased by how sucky my drawings/stories are, just gimme something to do. ^^

OoOoOoOoOoO
“Say, don’t you think it’s kind of weird how some villain would just come in and ruin everything that makes toys?” Sherlyn said.
“Yeah…” Jake agreed. “I mean… Santa’s sleigh is still working and nobody in the village appears to be hurt; and apparently, nobody’s houses seemed to be destroyed… erh, at least… not yet, I suppose.”
“True,” Tinker said. “But could this be a sort of resemblance? I mean… if he’s out to destroy the most significant part of Christmas… then… what could he possibly want?”
End Chapter Six
Later guys!
