Hey, I'm back! Sorry about not being here in months, lets just leave it to 'Family Problems'. Anyway, I'm not here to unload my troubles, so here we go.......again! Chapter 12: When the tough get going.Laoshi sat tied up by the wall. He had been trying to get free and to get the sphinx hair out, but it was no use. He had to admit that the Dark Dragon was not stupid. He had used metal ropes. Strangely, it wasn't the fact that he was tied up with no dragon powers and no means of escape that bothered him, it was more to do with the persistant itching in his neck where the hair had gone in. He had just started a fresh attepmt at freeing himself when the Dark Dragon came in and with one hand picked him up, paying no attention to his protests and saying to no-one in particular, "He is coming. The young fool, so predictable." Laoshi knew that it was going to be either Sam or Jake, but whichever showed up, it would not be good. Struggling feebly against his bindings, Laoshi growled "What do you want with them, you know they will never give it to you!". The Dark Dragon chuckled softly. "It is not them I want, It's Sam, and for reasons I will keep to myself." he replied in a steely edged voice, then added "Anyway, I think he will see it my way in time.....without my persuasion." Laoshi, for once, looked confused. "If it is only Sam you want, why did you summon for Jake?" The Dark Dragon's face contorted into a small snarl. "I have unfinished business with Jake." he growled. At that moment, the door crashed open and Fu bounded in, closely followed by Jake in dragon form. The Dark Dragon, with lightning speed, swept he claw up to Laoshi's throat and snarled fiercly, "Stay where you are!". Jake skidded to a halt and tried to think of some way to free his grandpa, but the Dark Dragon had left himself no room for error. There was no possible way of a rescue attempt. He would have to comply with the dark Dragons orders. A voice from outside completely derailed his train of thought, and he whirled around. It was Trixie's voice! She was yelling at people to get out of the way. A moment later Trixie pushed open the door, accompanied by Spud. Propped up between them was Sam, and he was in a bad way. He looked as though he'd been attacked! The Dark Dragon smiled, showing nothing but evil. "Good. Now that we are all here, we can get down to the business at hand. Sam, you will surrender yourself to me or..." he pointed at Laoshi, Jake, Fu, Trixie and Spud, "...they will all die, right here right now!". Jake saw Sam raise his head weakly, and despite the pain that rippled across his face, he managed to snarl and mutter a few strange, unrecognisable words. What ever they meant, the Dark Dragon didn't like it. He had began to snarl something back when Jake saw Sam raise his hand. He gasped. A shape, some sort of ancient rune had appeared like a scar on his palm. The shape radiated silver light and just before the light exploded outwards toward the Dark Dragon, Jake saw something he thought he would never see....fear on the Dark Dragons face. The light hit him and a roar eminated from somewhere within. Then it dissappeared, faded away like mist. The wall behind, the floor and Laoshi were untouched, but the Dark Dragon was gone. Sam lowered his hand, then sighed gently and slumped against spud, exhausted. Fu was the first to break the silence. "What the...." he said, amazed. Jake simply looked to Laoshi, the kind of look that expects an answer to the problem but knows that there won't be one. But he couldn't have been more shocked when Laoshi, looking at Sam, then Jake said "First of all, untie me, then I will tell you what I know...." --------------------------------------------- I will post the next chapter once I have rewritten it.....I lost the original. Once again, sorry for not posting for ages. Have I missed anything good?

Chapter 13: The Truth & The Deaths
About twenty minutes later Jake sat down in front of Laoshi, awaiting some explanation of the events that had just taken place. Since then, he had noticed that Laoshi had begun to look very tired and worried, but he did not comment on it. After the Dark Dragon had disappeared, Sam had fallen asleep out of sheer exhaustion, and had been laid on the sofa to rest. When everyone was quite, Laoshi began. "As you know, there are dragons like us, but there is another sub species of dragon, a very rare kind that before I met with the dragon council I thought to no longer exist. They are the Draconian’s. Each draconian could wield mighty amounts of power, and use it at their will. That is what destroyed most of them. There was a colossal battle between them, and there was an almighty flash of light. After that they were all dead. They used more power than they had, and it killed them. There was only one known draconian still in existence.... the Dark Dragon. That is why he is so powerful. Draconian’s were often a lot stronger that regular dragons.". He paused to allow this new information to sink in, then continued "There are certain...links... between Sam and the Dark Dragon, and that is why the dragon council want him protected. If the Dark Dragon managed to convince him that he is right..." he paused again and shuddered slightly. “.... the two of them could destroy dragon kind. That is why the Dark Dragon wants him. One draconian is stoppable, but two..." he left the rest unspoken.
Jake stirred. "How come you never mentioned about all this before?" he asked in a quiet voice. "There was no need for you to know." came the simple reply. At that moment, Sam stirred on the sofa, and groaned. He mumbled something about his head, then sat up and looked around. For a moment he couldn’t figure out where he was, then his vision slowly cleared and everything snapped back into focus. He still felt tired, but his sleep would have to wait. He noticed that everyone was staring at him, and they had good reason. He had unleashed a blast of magic that made the Dark Dragon disappear before their eyes. As he stood up. Laoshi asked, “How do you feel?”. Sam had to admit it was not the question he thought he would be asked. He nodded briefly, still not ready to talk. Jake suddenly stood up. “What did you do to him? Did you…kill him?” Sam leaned against a counter and took a deep breath. “No, I didn’t kill him. I used my power to transport him somewhere else…for now.”.
Jake was about to ask something else when he noticed Sam’s head twitch slightly, and he became more alert. He ran over to the TV and switched it on. The news was on, and the presenter was saying, “…airport staff are saying it was a tragic accident. At 9:30 this evening flight BA6998 from London Gatwick Airport was struck by lightning and consequently crashed with the loss of all passengers and staff aboard. A CCTV camera caught the last moments as the British Airways Boeing 747 was on final approach to New York City Airport.” The screen displayed an aircraft, lit up against the night sky. As it approached, a bolt of silvery gold light struck the starboard engine, causing an eruption of flames. The screen lit up as an explosion ripped the fuselage in two, and the inferno that was the remains crashed to the ground. “The manager of the airport, after calling the emergency services ha….” Sam had switched the TV off, a look of shock on his face. He gestured at Trixie, who handed him his mobile phone. With slow deliberation, he scrolled through the list of received text messages until he came to the last one from his parents: “We are boarding the flight now. Make sure to look for BA6998 on the arrivals board! Love Mom & Dad”. He dropped the mobile and hung his head in his hands. Laoshi picked it up and read the message, then looked at Sam. “I am so sorry, young one.” Sam raised his head. He was barely keeping it together. “No, don’t apologize! It’s not your fault, it’s….”. He stopped, staring into space. Jake knew what had happened. Sam’s parents were dead. The silence was total, no-one knowing what to say. The silence was broken by an almighty explosion from the roof. Dust and the remains of the door rained down the stairwell, accompanied by the harsh voice of a man. “Find the Dragons! I want this one….” There was a rustle of paper that sounded like a photo being unfolded, “…alive!” The sound of footsteps descending the stairs was heard. “I don’t need this! Why? Why me?” Sam yelled into the dust before transforming into his dragon form and unleashing a barrage of fireballs. Screams of agony sounded within the dust and the sound of people falling to the ground. Sam was ready to fight, but Laoshi’s dragon hand grabbed him and hauled him away. “There are too many! We must go!” The sound of more people entering the front of the shop interrupted him. More Huntsclan poured in. They were trapped.

Chapter 14: The getaway
Jake transformed into his dragon form, ready to fight. The huntsclan had really planned this one out and made sure there was no escape. He saw Sam out of the corner of his eye. He too was in dragon form, and looked as though he was ready to tear the world apart. His head snapped back round when he heard a loud war cry amidst the dust where the huntsclan had come in. There was a howl of rage from the huntsmaster, and Jake squinted to see what had caused it. He could see someone coming towards them. Laoshi was ready to jump at it.
"No!" yelled Jake, "Wait...".
The figure came closer, and the features became clearer. Jake couldn't stop a smile forming on his face. It was Rose. She stood at the ready, she even had her old huntsclan outfit on. Sam had his hand on his face, wiping the dust away, and asked
"Who is that?".
"That," replied Jake "Is Rose."
Rose stood for a moment then shouted "What are you standing there for, don't you know a getaway when you see one?"
Jake stood speachless for a moment, then ran after her and gestured for the others to follow. As they ran up the stairs towards the roof, Sam noticed the hunched bodies of unconcious huntsmen. Rose had been thorough in her work. Jake and Rose were further up than Sam, Laoshi and Fu. This was because they were pulling the bodies into the stairway to block it and because he had not quite fully recovered from the previous events. As Jake and Rose rounded the corner, Rose could have sworn she felt Jake's tail stroke her backside gently. this could have been because they were trying to run side by side in a corridoor meant for one, but looking at the small smile on Jake's face, she doubted it. She smiled gently to herself. Jake would pay for that one later. They reached the roof and looked around.
"What now?" asked Jake.
Rose looked at him as though it were the most stupid question he could have asked.
"You are the one's with the wings, you can carry us....can't you?"
Jake looked at her. "I could fly, but he can't." he said, pointing to Sam, who was looking over the side of the building.
Rose looked puzzled. Her plan seemed to have been based on the fact that they could fly away. "What do we do then?"
The sound of the huntsclan sounded from within the staiwell. Laoshi ran over and shut and bolted the door. Sam darted over to then all and pushed them toward the edge of the building.
"New plan." he announced as he jumped down onto the roof of Laoshi's white van. Jake climbed into the back, along with Rose and Fu. Sam got into the drivers seat with Laoshi next to him. He leaned forward and tapped Sam on the shoulder.
"Do you know how to drive this?" he asked, then taking Sam's grim nod as a yes.
Sam put the key in and revved the engine, then put his foot down, accellerating and smashing through the wooden side doors into the crowded street. he dodged a petrol tanker and three taxis, driving on the wrong side for a moment before mounting the pavement. They were never going to get anywhere on the road during the city rush hour. Laoshi seemed to be yelling something about how to turn properly. Jake noticed a look of stress pass over Sam's face before he turned to Laoshi and yelled back,
"I KNOW, I KNOW! WILL YOU JUST LET ME DRIVE?!?"
At that moment, there was a thud from the roof, and Sam thought the huntsclan had caught up with them. But then a dark head appeared by the passenger window and he knew now it was a lot worse.
It was a Shade.
